It's an unfair comparison because both are entirely different like I've said before. Humsafar isn't supposed to be reality based as it is a fairytale romance. I hardly doubt we've seen characters like Asher or Khirad in real life unlike Zaroon and Kashaf who you've met at some point in life.
Also, ZGH attracting to all age groups whereas HS not is not true. There's many people out there who didn't feel attracted to ZGH like they did to HS and similarly vice versa..
From toddlers that were 3 to people who were older than 60, when Humsafar was on air they all watched it and analyzed it as well. Similarly, when Zindagi Gulzar Hai was on air children, teens, adults, everyone watched it.
I don't think we should generalize... both shows have a strong fan base. Instead of comparing lets just appreciate and be fond of both. Not everyone will be fond of the same actors, the same story line, chemistry, etc. It all depends on your own taste.

I agree.
The comparison is pretty pointless too. I think the comparison should be at a personal level, from the point of view of what an individual prefers.
That said, if I had to choose one above the other based on what I don't mind seeing on repeat, more than the other, it will be Humsafar for me.😊

The comparison just places down the great work Fawad has done in both the shows.. its just similar to ask a parent to choose between his children, similarly as a fawad fan i have no regrets to say that both the shows were best at their genres, i never watched humsafar before, atleast not the way Asher and khirad were portrayed and similarly ZGH was an extravagant experience.
its unfair to compare sanam and mahira also, if mahira wouldnt know acting then ofcourse Humsafar wouldnt be iconic, its her first show as a leading lady, when there was such a humongous success related to that show then how can that show have flaws, esp in the performances ?
and i am so sure sanam saeed or a sanam baloch can never play khirad just how mahira can never play kshaf convincingly, it takes two to tango, and its baseless to say that this jodi is better than that.
Fawad, well the less i say its better, he is my everything, i am biased for him, but yes thats only because till now his work never disappointed me.

Zindagi Gulzar Hai is by far the better show hands down.

Sanam Saeed vs Mahira Khan (Sanam hands down)
Samina Peerzada vs Atiqa Odho ( the latter practically ruins all of her scenes with her over the top acting)
Writing and content - hands down ZGH.
Supporting cast - ZGH had an awesome supporting cast and made a huge difference. People actually remember Rafia, Sidra, Kashaf's dad because they all made a difference. Who actually talks about anyone else but Khirad and Asher?

The only true edge that Humsafar had was Sarmad Khoosat, the director.

Humsafar was not Mahira ' s first show. She did a film and a leading role in this show called Neeyat prior to Humsafar. If anything, Sanam Saeed ' s first role as a leading actor was Kashaf. She was always the supporting actor in all of her shows prior to this...and never received her due.

but HS was her first big show right ? before tht ppl didnt know about her much, whereas i think SS was known for her good work before also.. Sanam saeed seemed to be more experienced during ZGH compared to Mahira during HS ..

its plane ignorance when a love story is compared with a social drama, obviously the latter will have more content . but as i sid, when a project becomes iconic then that must mean every aspect of it has fallen into place, which applies for humsafar also. No matter how much we like ZGH, its a FACT that Humsafar was loved more by the domestic audience of that nation, it definitely had something magical in it, and the cast is a major aspect fo the success...

where Mahira looks suitable to play love stories and sensitive and delicate juliets of Ashers, Sanam S looks suitable to play a daring and self righteous kashaf, its not that they were playing anything out of their comfort zone, so the comparison seems nullified here.

And if only because Fawad is the leading man of both the shows makes it a Mahira VS Sanam , then i am sorry to say that Fawad Mahira shared the better and the more natural chemistry with those fairytalish made for each other romance may be because i love "LOVE STORIES " whereas Fawad and Sanam got to play some author backed roles in ZGH which makes that pair extraordinary and i can never imagine anybody else as ZaShaf

I still feel that ones' preference of any one of these 2 shows over the other is a personal preference.
Its unfair to compare one with the other.
I like Sanam B very much but really cannot compare any 2 of her shows.
Same goes for Sanam S.

Ashar and Khirad, no doubt stole the show, but I have seen people passionately hate Khizer and Sara. I think that reaction was because they did their job quite well.
Personally everything about Khiser irritates me. I disliked him in Maat also, because of his role in Humsafar😆
I liked Atiqa O in Humsafar very much. By the end of it, one realizes that she was a neurotic case all along. She was too good. I liked that lady who played Batul khala also. I feel all the supporting roles were very well done.
I'm not too fond of Mahira, but i feel that no one could have delivered Khirad the way she did. She was perfect in the role.

Just because this is my personal preference, its doesn't mean that it is the final word for everyone else.😊

i loved Atika a lot .. the lady defines class from every angle and frame.. she and fawad actually looked so much like mom-son in the whole show that i kept wondering that how brilliant these two were ... as u said she was a neurotic case and she was supposed to be that much spicy and solid in her portrayal without leaving any stone for affection. on the other hand i found Rafiya in ZGH annoying after a certain stage, she definitely was inspirational, but then i donno what had put me off, infact i liked Hina bayat more as gazala..

Humsafar, the standout perfomers were Fawad and Atika whereas Mahira was just perfect and gave her career's best performance.. i passionately hated khizar, infact i hate dhim more than fareeda, he is the only reason i wanted sara to face a severe end, i swear i just hate him..🥱

Naveen and Fawad on the other hand shared a very good chemistry too ... infact this show had Fawad sharing his best chemistries ever, be it as a son with Atika-Baseerat or as the focal point between khirad and sara, the man looked gorgeosu and shared gorgeous chemistry with both his ladies...

Mahira wasn't known before Humsafar? Mahira is one of the most popular VJs in recent times. She is probably THE most popular VJ in recent years. So, you're wrong she was very popular amongst audiences before she started as an actor. Sanam Saeed was practically unknown. Sanam Saeed started off in a minor role in Daam in 2010 while Mahira started off in a film in 2011. Mahira chooses to do less work. She hasn't had a show air in 2 years, that's her own choice. Sanam Saeed's real big break was Mera Naseeb in 2011 and even then she didn't receive much recognition since she wasn't the pretty character like her cousin in the show who despite acting horrendously was noticed more. Mata e Jaan was then Sanam's next big show but she was the supporting cast and that show didn't fare well. So, I'm not sure what makes you think Sanam Saeed had an upperhand. She was never appreciated up until ZGH. It's not easy for unconventional looking girls to be recognized. Sanam Saeed even gets roles where they have her character has the average looking girl. She had to push the envelope even more. Mahira didn't even read Humsafar's script and said yes because she didn't know how to approach work post Neeyat. She was the main lead in Neeyat and that show bombed. The director of Neeyat was the same as that of Daam, Doraha and Malaal yet Neeyat flopped. Sanam Saeed actually reads her scripts by the way and decides for herself. She even mentioned in an interview that she sometimes wishes she could bag a role like Mahira or Ayeza (who are touted as conventionally good looking) because they easily receive those ideal characters..meanwhile Sanam Saeed does not. So, if anything at all, Sanam and Mahira both had to prove themselves in Humsafar and ZGH..and which one had to work harder and prove themselves even more than the other to get their due? Well that's the obvious. If Sanam Saeed looks more experienced to you by a difference of mere one year and 2 big supporting roles on tv which weren't appreciated enough..then I think that says something the performer's potential.

In terms of chemistry - that's very much arguable. I personally believe it was always going to be harder for Sanam Saeed and Fawad to convince the audiences with their pair. They're the unconventional one for many reasons...Needless to say, they did a pretty darn good job.
