Speaking of the 90's shows. I remember Shanti and Saans. Mature topics, but they were dealt with very well.

In terms of comedy,tu tu main main and hum paanch were classics ! I loved tu tu main main more though

Historicals were class! BR chopra's mahabharatha and Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan were so good, people actually used to touch Arun Goyal's feet coz he was so impactful as Shri Ram.
And my dad keeps telling me about this show-Chanakya. He used to love that show!

Also I dont know how many of you'll remember but zee had a show called "Rishtey" which featured telefilms. Some really nice stories.
Even this kind of show with new story was also on Star plus and just remember with Niki Aneja . Stories were from famous writers , And Sahara also had this series of new story show .

If it may interest you,Imtiaz Ali's Highway,he had first directed as a telefilm and it had aired in Rishtey.

Speaking of recent times,I maybe a bit biased towards this show, but this show was very well researched by the Sagars(10 years),and the first 100 odd episodes were brilliant-Prithviraj Chauhan. The screenplay and execution was class. And this show gave quite a competition in terms of TRP to the saas bahu shows when kyunki and kahaani were peaking! even though it was a just weekend show. But yes the TRp baaba caught them too,the last 50 odd episodes were a dragfest.

Chandragupta Maurya was another good one in recent times. it abruptly ended though coz of channel shutting down. Very intelligent script.

Even Jhansi ki Rani was quite good! Sarabhai of course can never be forgotten.

First Chankya was very powerful show and that time we had Shayam Benegal also directing the shows . and many more famous directors .

Yes i have seen and was trying to find on You tube with Sudeah Berry and Malvika Tiwari. Kind of M&B kind of stry and ended with just 13 episodes . Even Zee had many progressive shows in those days which were quite with bold themes . So can not say that creativity is dead , problem is no one bothers to take risk . And same goes with movies . Rarely comes any which is worth watching .

Agree...Sarabhai and Dekh Bhai Dekh are all time comedy classics...
Most of the YRF shows that came in 2010/11 on Sony were quality shows...special mention required for Rishta.com which is a personal fav...the others Kismat, Khotey Sikkey etc were also pretty good...they are all available on YT...unfortunately TRP audience did not accept those as usual and they never came back with new shows/seasons :(

I would recommend Sarabhai vs Sarabhai ,Mahi Way and Radha ki Betiyaan kuch kar dikhayegi all these 3 shows are available on Youtube ...First two were pretty popular among young viewers and Radha ki betiyaaan ,specially the initial episodes were outstanding and any show that comes close to freshness and feel good factor to ZGH is RKB for me

Don't know if you guys noticed this, but most of the really good shows were those with limited episodes!

Be it old ones like Hum Paanch, Office Office, Dekh Bhaai Dekhi or Hip Hip Hurray or new ones like Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Love Story, Mahi Way and many others... All had a crisp storyline and limited episodes.
Despite fan requests, the CVs did not extend the show ruthlessly without making sense and hence we don't have even one useless, or as we call, filler epis in them!
I don't know how many of you remember the other shows Star One started with apart from Remix and Sarabhai!
I really loved Guns and Roses, Bluffmaster, Special Squad and Dil Kya Chahta hai!
