My dearest Mandy,
Don't fret, there is my good girl! I am not giving up on Yudh, regardless of whether 12 people read my posts or 412 or 712. I will do all the 20 episode analyses; what I wrote to Sandhya was in a fit of unaccustomed disappointment. I do feel let down by our young friends, and that is a fact, but I should know better than to let that spoil my mood!
While everything you have said is correct, and I had the earlier experience of the complete flop of Powder, which was almost flawless, the fact is that I expected better results for Yudh because of the Amitabh Bachchan factor. I was wrong. The marketing of course was very poor, but that is Sony all over. But the real problem is that the audience that should have flocked to Yudh simply stayed away.
Why, even intelligent people will not make the effort to watch Yudh. It is, admittedly, a demanding show, but Mandy, there are no children around between 10:30 and 11:30, dinner is over by 9:30 pm and the kitchen would have been cleared up by time Yudh starts. And people do not call other people after 10:30 pm unless it is an emergency. So none of those excuses will wash.
The thing is that the very people whom I would have expected to delight in Yudh do not want to make the intellectual effort to comprehend it. I have no problem with those like Adiana who watch 2 episodes and then say they do not like it. My
khunnaas is against those who will simply not bestir themselves to watch it at all , and then voice fake complaints that Jodha Akbar is puerile. My admiration for Ekta's understanding of her audience goes up all the time. She knows what her audience REALLY wants, as distinct from what some segments of it profess to want.
Mandy, I am flattered beyond belief by what you have written in the end, but dear, I do not see our group together here. Do you? So how are we united? And where? I used to do analyses of episodes of Jodha Akbar that I had decided to skip, at nearly 5 pm, because one or the other young friend demanded it, and at times several of them. But see now! I asked them so many times and in so many ways, and hardly any of them is here with you and me and the very few who did show up. So all this so-called solidarity is imaginary, created by a confluence of interests, which is by its very nature temporary. So, I see no reason to exert myself any more re: Jodha Akbar, which is in any case barely watchable these days.
So my dearest Mandy, let us stay together here and enjoy the remaining 12 episodes of Yudh.
Uske baad, Allah maalik!

shyamala dearest, you cannot leave us like that, we knew from the beginning that yudh will only attract limited people and we few are the lucky ones! did we ever expect a huge response, no! even the chugalkhor aunty says in her annoying shrill voice which is worst than jodha's bhashans that amitji tikk nahin paye tvpur ki bahuyon ke samne, and i felt like giving a tight slap on her face at least talk with some respect, we are talking about the great legend here and not some xyz actor! such is the mentality of the viewers of india, what to do?
shyamala the major problem is that for this show one needs to sit alone and watch with full concentration..just imagine when the whole family sits then there are kids crying phone ringing food cooking on stove and if they miss one dialogue or even one episode the connection is lost! and the sbs crap says one dialogue repeatedly for almost whole week, u watch them anytime the senseless story is still lingering on the same topic!
and as far as JA is concerned i am done with akbar's character and have started calling it BMC, for me he is dead and buried..i am still hovering around for the sake of my dear friends and RT..and i honestly want RT to quit because there is nothing left for him to do in the show..he is held back by ekta with a pay hike but i think he might leave most probably when the real leap starts...now by the end of this year the leap will focus on salim and anarkali..and if ekta brings a mind blowing couple with crackling chemistry and the female lead has no objections in doing passionate scenes then u wait and watch they will take the center stage and the actual jj will be sidelined and it will become more or less like mughal-e-azam! i think i will see how salim anarkali perform and then start rewatching it if its worth giving a try!
please shyamala, do not leave us we are like a lost flock of sheep without you! please do stay in touch and do not leave like this, its my request, in fact i do not want any of our group member to leave, please lets stay united!
