More than being For or Anti a ship, the story has to make some sense. The problem with this whole story is constant incomplete loops which they've justified in the form of this leap! The character's have behaved so off for a while, specially the level of abuse on display that it makes it difficult to root for any character at this point.
As for the charm...for me the leads definitely have crazy chemistry ...but the whole thing is TRP driven for this gen coz overall the ratings are at an all time low everywhere..every show, every channel. Channel has some other goals, they do not seem to be in it to show a story anymore; it's like whatever clicks will be on display.
The ship also matches or is popular maybe because it has multiple typical romance tropes that many people may like:
Strong guy-demure girl physically but emotionally it's the opposite
Childhood trauma, Mental abuse connection
Soul mates or unexplainable infinite love
Twin flames (new for me)
Puppy love with minimal understanding
Mythology connects (Personally joote padhne chahiye for the depiction)
At the end of the day it's a story and ITV is one of the worst platforms to sell any story in today's time...any iconic pair they create if happy winds up in months or after a few months the toxicity sinks in. Mini series or limited timeline shows are the only ones to give a try if one wants to watch a non toxic love story to a certain extent.
As for Abhira, I don't know how they can redeem all the abuse; that is something I personally dislike when pushed into a story that is projected like a classic love story or something! Akshara-Nav in real life would probably have been the endgame.
They're also playing with very touchy social subjects like Adoption, shared paternity, mental abuse, miscarriage, bad omens etc etc...none of which I've the confidence they'll close with dignity.
So now, I'm rooting only for baby Abhir; all others can go to hell if not redeemed ...and so I watch in bits and pieces with a pinch of salt on selective daysđ
Abhira are a long way away from being rooted for in the current story sensibility wise!
