Chapter 7

His expression changed seeing Akshara lifting a suitcase

"Tum Kahan jaa rahi ho?"

She was startled at the sudden question and dropped her suitcase on the floor but it hit her foot too and she screamed in pain.

Abhimanyu apologized and ran to help her.

He made her sit on the bed and checked her foot and applied balm over it "Akshu tum itni chot lagi hone ke baad suitcase kyu utha rahi thi? Dhyan se kaam nahi karsakti?"

"Woh main bas rakh rahi thi upar" replied Akshu in pain

Abhi enqired "Dressing change ki?"

She shook her head in disagreement "Umm woh…..Nahi"

"Mujhe check karne do" stated Abhi

There was an awkward silence in the room he was checking seriously and then finally he spoke "Tumhare waist par bhi chot hai woh bhi dikhao"

She was wearing a green saree for Mehendi and it made her look more ethereal. She turned to her right.

Inwardly Abhi was enjoying the awkwardness on Akshara's face that hidden blush made him fall more for her.

He slowly bunched the falling pallu of her saree and put it on her shoulder and started removing the bandage slowly. She gulped due to proximity.

He hissed in response after seeing the fresh blood oozing out of the cut

"Tumne stitches kyu nahi lagwaye hain abhi tak??" scolded Abhimanyu

She was speechless because she didn’t want to accept that she was scared…She chose to sit silently.

He shook his head in disappointment and ordered her to lie down on the bed

Her fears became true when he said “ Main khud stitches lagaunga, let jao Chup chaap…”

She wanted to escape but she had no other option...she did a final try “Abhi…manyu tum aysehi bandage kardo na please…”

He tried reading her expression. He realized she was scared and then remembered an incident in college when Akshara was not well once and he took her to a doctor and how scared she was when the doctor said about giving an injection.

She changed a lot but from the outside …she is still the same Akshu. This rough and tough officer is still scared of little needle.

He called house help and gave a list of a few things he needed.

He went back and sat beside her and assured her "Akshu koi dard nahi hoga main hun naa…"

She looked into his eyes… her heart knew nothing would happen to her if he is there but he won’t stay forever …he belongs to someone else now and she can never think of him ever again.

She lowered her gaze and turned her face to another side.

He prepared an anesthesia injection and Akshara gulped nervously seeing it.

“Akshu aankhein band karlo, kuch nahi hoga” instructed Abhimanyu softly.

She like a baby followed his order and shut her eyes tightly.

He started putting stitches carefully.

Akshu slowly opened her eyes and saw his face closely he was focused on doing his job cautiously.

After 20 minute

“Done, Take rest aur dressing Dhyan se change karwa lena aur medicines le hi lena warna infection hua to….. aur Injections lagane padenge ” he teased her to lighten the situation

She hmmed in response

"Ek baat puchun?” asked Abhimanyu

She knew what was coming up so she just looked into his eyes and he took it as a yes from her side and he continued

“Sir ne tumse kya kaha tha Akshu? ”

6 yrs back

In Mumbai

10 days later

Abhimanyu was back in college

He was searching for Akshara because in the last 10 days he only got a reply to one of his texts. He tried asking a few of her batchmates and they informed him that she comes and leaves early. There were 3 more days left in her course completion and he was sure that she will come to college so he decided to skip his lectures to meet her.

He saw her after 12 days.

She looked sad the small smile that she carried with her always was missing

He went and stood in front of her and questioned “ Akshu where have you been?”

Akshu was confused at the unexpected meeting because she knew the timings of his classes and she chose the time to leave college before his class ends.

“Woh ..umm..Main thoda busy hun" She answered without looking into his eyes

He noticed she was avoiding looking into his eyes.

"Okay, Parso free ho we will go to usual hangout place lakeside par bahut sari baatein puchni hai aur karni bhi hai"

She hmmed in response as she never wanted to break his heart...though they never confessed yet they both knew what their heartfelt for each other.

“Goodbye Abhi...manyu “ She gave a hesitant reply. He was confused to see her reaction. He expected her to question him about his mother's health and tell her stories that she usually does.
