They are all soulful songs with meaningful lyrics. Love them. And I never get tired of the title track Yeh moh moh le dhaage.

Thanks Radhe and cooldreams. The songs that I have listed are just a small number...I did not specifically mention older songs considering the forum members, especially the younger lot might not be able to relate with those songs at all...but since the time Hindi film music emerged...this Raaga remains an eternal favourite of the music composers. And yes Cooldreams...all these songs as you mentioned are just so time-less...anyone can be transported to a different world...and you never get tired.

Debo, absolutely ball parked every point is bang on !! its such a soul soothing raga... though i am from typical south carnatic background... these ragas are something that makes north and south cousins in music i say.

The song, back ground they use in the show are true to their theme and soul soothing... there are many such unique roll outs in this show which make it more closer to hearts...

feel happy to be the fandom of the show
love

Thanks AD...it is the standard and quality of the forum members that I could post about something like this. This forum is extremely welcoming to all kinds of things and every post finds equal and adequate discussion...I initially thought...there would not be many people who would want to read about Classical Music...but then see, how I found people like you and others contributing your bits. These Raagas definitely bridge all gaps between the north and the south undoubtedly...and their use in popular music can definitely instill a taste for good music among the new generation. Lovely to hear from you...😊

Deb, first of all, let me give you a standing ovation for this post. 👏I do enjoy music and know a few raagams but not the level of detail that you have enlightened here. No wonder the song just captures the mood of the situation. Such soul reaching kind of a tune. And no wonder when ever it comes on, we feel nothing else will suit what they are trying to convey. That there is so much of science behind this is amazing.
Do you know of any south indian songs that we southerners can relate to?😳

And like you say, once again a warm forum response to your post. It seems obvious that this show is attracting a kind of audience that really really appreciates the finer points in life... like our story !👏

Raag Yaman is my favorite too. It has the quality of expressing the unspoken emotions which you can't express in words. Every song based on this raag has the ability change your mood and elevate and elate your soul. It's like you are filled with love when you listen to these songs. Pick any song you mentioned in your post and you'll know what I am trying to say.

This song Moh Moh ke dhaage is my all time favorite. I have even made a cover of this song. I must have literally heard and sung this song a million times but it's still fresh for me even now. One of the best creations of Anu Malik!!

Vidi...you made a cover of the song..!! please post it we would love to hear it!!

@ Debashri.,
Lovely lovely post..and was thrilled to see this dimension in you and some other forum members here...
I play the hindustani harmonium and sitar myself , and also am trained in carnatic vocal...I can get lost in the world of Bhup and Des , Yaman and Malkouns..Jeevanpuri for days.
And the best part I enjoy is to translate those raagas to carnatic music...the base sapt swar in carnatic is Kafi...Ga Ni komal ..."Kharaharapriya" .
Malkouns is Hindolam and Yaman Kalyan has versions like Mecakalyani or YamanKalyani.
Yaman and Kalyan are slightly different but the songs that come out of their amalgam are something else!!!

Bhairav- that is Mayamalava gowla and Malkouns- Hindolam and two of my other favourites...

Coming to moh moh...I will admit I liked the song but was not so happy to hear the sharp turn the song takes at " hai rom rom ektara"...the song jumped the base I felt. But after listening multiple times I have grown to like it. And I still feel the lyrics should have been better for the Starting mukhda.

Love the antaras of the song though-- tu hoga jara paagal tune mujhko hai chunna...perfect.

And about the show - the Bg music with Gujrati words is really praiseworth--Marvalida hopefully means - she is going to kill me?? Someone please correct met if I am wrong. The sad Marvalida that comes on is awesome!
And there was that bg they use when there are gentle convos between ArMu where Mu is pacifying her..like after the fire accident he lets her talk it out and makes her sleep.
Love that bg too...

Nice topic Debashri and do please keep posting on it.👏

Thanks dear Blue...for your rich addition to this post...yes, besides, Yaman...my favourites are Raag Desh, Tilak Kamod (Aaoge Jab tum o Saajna from Jab We Met) Raag Kedar, Raag Khamaj...even Raag Kaafi...there are others too. I feel just when the Indian Independence Day or the Republic Day is nearing...I start humming Raag Desh...I can literally visualize the Tri-colour in front of my eyes...I can visualize in Sepia-tone...men and women in 1000s...marching to the Red-Fort...I get very emotionally charged with Raaga Desh as well... Sujalam- Suphalam- Malayaja sheetalam... what a beautiful Raaga this one is as well. Any way, since we are in Yaman at the moment...I would not take you to the other Raagas...
As far as the line "...hai rom rom ek taara.." goes...that is when Yaman merges with Raaga Puriya-Dhanashree...it moves out of the framework of Yaman Kalyan actually...and that is why it sounds different although I love that line as well...it gives me goosebumps and conveys a very passionate and intense kind of emotion...that is mixed with a certain kind of longing...for the beloved!! Anyway, so glad to hear that you also are into music...and thanks once again for responding.
