shaheen@mid-day.com | In: Smita Bansal | Poornima of the Sony daily Ye Meri Life Hai has a new face. Sheetal Thakkar, who plays Poornima, is on a holiday abroad — that's the reason her character went missing from the show.
But now producers Optimystix have decided to revive her track. With Thakkar still away, and unreachable, Smita Bansal has been roped in to play the new Poornima in the show.
Thursday's episode had Bansal making her entry. "I received a call from the producers to be part of the show," says Bansal, who began shooting immediately.
"There is a bit of a guilt trip in Poornima's character, as she has married Ronit (Amit Jain), the man her sister Pooja (Shama Sikander) loved," says the actress about her role. Track recalled
It is learnt that Poornima's track had to be recalled suddenly as Ashmit (Rahil Azam) was unavailable for shooting.
"He has developed a severe rash on the face and was not in a position to face the camera," says Vipul D Shah of Optimystix Productions. As Ashmit needed time off for treatment, the focus will be on Ronit (Amit Jain), Pooja (Shama Sikander) and the Poornima triangle.
"The show will show Poornima pregnant and Ronit still in a dilemma about his past love, Pooja. There's also the track about Akash (Ajay Arya) accepting Reema (Simple Kaul)," adds Shah.
Thakkar was earlier seen in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki and Swabhiman, while Bansal plays Aditi in the Sony weekly CID. Out of Kkusum
In January, Bansal was slated to appear in the Sony daily Kkusum as Aarti, Sohan's (Ejaz Khan) love interest. After shooting for two days, she was no longer part of the project.
As Bansal was in the party special episode of Kkusum (which had characters from various Sony soaps), she could not play another character on Kkusum again!

Ashmit's skin problem
Rahil Azam, who plays Ashmit, Pooja's hubby on the show, has been seen with severe p***le-like eruptions on his face recently. It is learnt that Azam has a skin problem for which he is undergoing treatment.
"He is not shooting for the soap as his condition has worsened. He asked for some days off for treatment," says Vipul D Shah of Optimystix, the producers of the show | |
