That might be dead man talking. Dead characters giving Voice Overs(VO) is nothing new. It happens quite frequently in books, films, comics ,animation, TV series etc. Dead characters do narrate events.
Dead Characters narrate events upto their death, for example, in films like Casino and American Beauty, in anime like Grave of the fireflies , in TV series like Tales from the crypt,in comics like Injustice Gods among us and many more.
Dead Characters narrate events after their death, for example, in the film The Grey Zone, in TV series like Desperate housewives, in comics like Gear
Dead Characters narrate events both upto and after their death, for example in films like The Bucket List, TV series like The Forgotten, in anime like Death Note.
I don't watch Yeh Un dino Ki Batt Hai regularly as you guys do. I wish I could watch it but I can't. If a Sameer Maheshwari who is as old as Naina Aggarwal is actually shown on the screen even once then it automatically disproves my opinion but if a 40 odd year old Sameer Maheswari is not shown on the screen then it is a different thing.
Exactly. Sameer becomes a part of Naina's story. They could have shown both Naina and Sameer getting down from the car but they did not, it was only Naina. They could have started with Sameer and then it would have been Sameer's story not Naina's.
In the opening episode itself she reveals she is returning to school after 30 years. She was 16 in 11'th grade. So she must be 46 years old. Have we seen a 46 year old Sameer ?
Why would you return to the place where you met love of your life alone and not with him or her ?
I am also curious why she addresses herself as Naina Aggarwal in first episode and not Naina Maheshwari ? We can argue to say that she being an independent woman did not take her husband's name. But still it was 90's.
P.S - All this is conjecture and opinion. Most probably they got married and lived happily. A 46 year old Sameer was suffering from a bad case of diarrhea , so he did not accompany Naina to the school.
