There was a wonderful post recently about how both Naina and Sameer see love etc.

If anyone can link it up to this post, it would be nice.

According to what I read in that post, Naina was always a romantic at heart. Her love for romantic movies and songs, subconsciously she always loved the concept of falling in love.

And Sameer fit that picture of the hero she had imagined.

Sameer, probably never thought about falling in love or even the concept of loving someone.
He has issues in his life and having been deprived of love, he probably does not even understand the concept of love much.

There is surely a disconnect between the way these two look at life and love.

After this break, I want them to be friends first, understand each other, try to look at the world from each other's POV and then think of love.

Phew! That is a long list of debate on this post by so many members.

Thank you all for sharing your views.

Relationships are tricky. But from my understanding Attraction, love, and adjustments are the key.

Of the three, Attraction and Love comes first. Then only there is happiness and satisfaction in changing yourself for your partner. Without love and attraction, any adjustment, in the long run, gets irritating.

That is what many of us hope to see in the show. Sameer, genuinely falling in love and attraction with Naina & getting desperate at the thought of seeing Naina with someone else.

I hope the makers start focusing on this aspect.

New Spoiler Relation:

Just now I read in other posts that in the next couple of weeks the story will be told from Sameer's POV (narration). It potentially can answer all the points we discussed here today.

I hope that from Sameer's POV we could get to see a beautiful realization and progression of his feelings of love and attraction towards Naina. No more only Guilt and Denial. Just pure unadulterated, love, affection, care, possessiveness, admiration, attraction, lust, and love from the POV of a lover madly in love with Naina.

Then all the efforts Sameer will make to MANAO Naina will be even sweeter, and the viewers will have a great watch.

Hopefully, we all get to see that.

Cheers!

Im going to push further by saying that I think hes been attracted to her from the start in the way you look at a stranger and find something attractive about them but dont voice it nor dwell on it.
Im thinking right back to that scene where Naina goes to the front of class and is being honoured for her good qualities and hes watching her quietly, listening to it all and to his friends who tell him about her being a teachers pet. The way he looked at her is quite ambiguous. He may be thinking so shes a teachers pet, his complete opposite. Well opposites attract. The events that follow also lead me to believe that he was drawn to her somehow, on the surface he sees her as a teachers pet but he secretly likes that about her because its something he lacks and indeed when she helps him with his studies he openly admires her intellect. He also takes it really personally when she tells on him and focuses on her too much.
Also pre bet phase just think of those numerous times where he stole glances at her even if it were from teasing. When he picks up her books and sees her up close, when he steals her shoes and watches her coming to class in sandals etc For me those moments were quite telling of desires buried in the pits of his mind.

Oh I totally agree with your pov! Now it looks like Sam is just looking at Naina as a substitute for all the motherly love and concern!

But then I guess it's a typical desi TV formula or for that matter even Hollywood romcom movies formula, where one person is so called popular and other a simple nerd... So called cindrella type movies... First the popular person be it gal or boy, (gender is inconsequential in this case) tries to trick the other mostly for a bet or some other selfish gain... Then when the intended person falls, the popular party is almost a completely changed person who wants to come clean ASAP to the other but circumstances force the truth out b4 the popular person can confess and all hell breaks loose...

And now the erstwhile popular party bcms the guilty party and tries to earn forgiveness with all means possible... N yeah DENIAL is their fav support... So everyone asks why is it that their forgiveness matters so much and these ppl hv only 'guilt' as their answer... Well that's only till they see the other with another person!

So yup, JEALOUSY is the way most such stories show that the other person has actually fallen in love and not just riddled with guilt... So here maybe a new guy would come and the moment Sam sees Naina with him, he gonna be all J... Munna n pandit might ask why it bothers him so much... He wud deny it in the beginning maybe even to himself... But then one day the dam of his denial will break and he will mostly blurt out his love for her publicly! ;)

Okies, maybe I wrote the whole thing too simply here... 😆 but this actually is very interesting trope in movies and So maybe they are planning to take this route? Well if so I just hope they don't over do it and excute this trope just correctly... Now that would be a really interesting watch! What say? 😉

Let me say one thing right of the bat...teenage crushes rarely wind up being the real thing.

Every girl (and some guys...but especially girls) thinks her "puppy love" is the real thing...but it is usually not the case. 😆

But let me not get side tracked...we're talking about Sameer...

I think Sameer has grown to like Naina, especially now that he has actually gotten to know her. But I don't believe he loves her. No matter how much Munna and Pandit wonder if he is in love with Naina...I think if you really think about it, he isn't.
He has befriended her...he has begun to care about her...he will defend her as he would anyone of his close friends...and he definitely feels ashamed and guilty for hurting her...but love...he's not there yet.

His upbringing is partly to blame. He has been shuttled from one boarding school to the next. His own mother has abandoned him for a step family that he was never made to feel welcome in. So where is he going to learn about love from? In this regard, the CVs have done a wonderful job in developing his character.

Yes, neither Naina nor anyone else should be his emotional punching bag...and with this bet...he learned this lesson the hard way. But something good did come out of all this. Sameer realized that he is capable of being loved...that the word "love" can be part of his life's dictionary. I think that is a very important realization...in that he has to believe in love before he can allow himself to love someone.

I'm enjoying the way the story is being told. And whatever Naina and Sameer feel for each other..if things work out and they continue their friendship...it will solidify...and eventually turn into love.

Hi, rock & roll,

Even after knowing Naina from such a close proximity, knowing her unending love for him, knowing that she will sacrifice anything for him and will go to any extent to see him smile if Sameer still needs a reason to fall in Love with Naina ---- it just indicates that all he cares for is appearance only.

Not that Naina is not good looking but she does not display it and she is unaware of her beauty. Ironically its the case with many real-life simple girls who are pretty but are unaware of the fact.

Very good point doc. But I don't agree that Sameer only cares for appearance. He is just as human and flawed as any of us 😉.Sometimes,in spite of a person doing a lot for us we still don't fall in love with them. What does develop is a very strong unbreakable bond of friendship(which sometimes betters the bond of so called love in the long run). And sometimes we fall in love with the weirdest of people for the most inane reasons😆😆.It is difficult to explain why this happens, but I think it is beyond the mere physical part.

I am not sure if people would agree with me here, but I think one of the main reasons for "falling in love" is attraction .Attraction is closely linked to the image of the person and the feeling of someone being hard to get.A girl may be beautiful, talented, intelligent and good natured but if she has an image of being a nerd, benehnji or uncool, then it is unlikely that any boy will fall for her.Similarly a girl may be very average looking ,but if she creates a cool and hard to get image, many boys will go gaga over her. What I am trying to say is that the process of falling in love involves trying to get something that is viewed as "difficult, rare or coveted".It is this chase of the "coveted " thing that slowly develops into attraction and then love. The heart(stupidly) is unable to differentiate between good and bad.It thinks that if something is hard to get it must be good and conversely,if it is easy to get ,it is not worth it.(or something better must be available)!!!😆

Since Sameer acts like a hero and plays hard to get, every girl is seen swooning over him.Naina is far more talented and intelligent than Sameer and equally good looking, but she has an image of being a behenji in school,so no one will ever fall for her in school.I think Naina is better looking than Kamya, but Kamya has half the class swooning over her because she throws up her price. The same Kamya easily gave in to Sameer,so Sameer did not value her!!Munna 's feelings for Swati keep going up because he sees Swati as someone coveted and hard to get.Ironically her playing hard to get actually increases Munna's feelings for her !!!Since Munna is readily available for Swati,Swati's value for him is equivalent to a langur!!😆

The point I am trying to make is that Naina gave in way tooo easily to Sameer and that is why he does not value her or love her till now.He made half hearted attempts to woo her and fell head over heels for him.So he hasn't learnt to appreciate her fully.Maybe in Ph-2 when he tries to appease her(manao her) again, she will throw up her price. That might make him realise that she is hard to get and might actually help him fall in love!!If she gives in easily this time, she will surely be friendzoned for life...The trick is to play hard to get,but not so hard to get that the person gives up...Just keep them on their toes😆😆😆

Not sure if people agree, but I think the attraction part of love is heavily based upon wooing someone who is hard to get.The harder they are to get,the longer and more difficult the "chase".The longer the chase, the greater the yearning and attraction.Simple formula -the more Naina throws up her price, the more Sameer will get attracted to her!!!

PS:I know I am sounding like a love expert who has tried and been successful in all this😆.But truth be told,I am big failure in this..And I learnt from my own failures and observing the failure of others😆😆😆

its important to mention here that
- sameer in his monologue said that "mai tumhaare aansu nahi dekh paaunga. aur meri wajah se toh kabhi nahi."

- sameer took the blame of the night spent in the room because he couldnt see naina's image tarnished. he sacrificed his self respect and his upbringing and all of his future and the risk of being expelled. too much was at stake for him but he still gave it all up in a heartbeat. he wasnt even angry abt it.

- he couldnt see naina being slapped by her father. he stopped him in front of everyone! its a BIG deal!

- sameer even stopped the teacher from hitting naina.. earlier when she dint turn up for the debate. that was a big deal too. he couldnt see her hurt. period! ge even called to ask if she was ok.

-sameer went to the temple twice on his own just because he wanted to. it had nothing to do with the bet. (first time he went for the bet and next two times he went on his own)
he understood her family relations n was unhappy that she got slapped or shouted at.

-sameer dint wear the sweater is proof enough of his feelings for her.

-sameer dint want to hurt naina with the bet but he could never tell her coz he knew it would break her heart. he hated not being there for her.

- lastly sameer returned home and he only remembered the hurt he had caused to naina. not how he was hurt from his mom's words and neither that he would not get her care n love anymore. he only remembered that he would not hurt her further n would stay away from her.

- he hasnt disclosed all the details of their cliff sunrise date to munna pundit. he hasnt disclosed the phone song communication. wen a guy does that he is a goner. and yest he even told MP to leave him alone.

i think there is enough proof that sameer cares for naina n loves her. he just doesnt know that its love. which is y he dint justify himself at the cliff. the day he realises that this is infact love he will chase her like no man's business!
