@mayu1982 I'd like to congratulate you for making this thread. It's much needed. As a woman, I've been ranting about a woman's rights for the past few weeks. I feel that YHM does anything but empower women. Fact is, positivity brings in more positivity. You teach by setting good examples. This show doesn't do this. For the sake of TRPs, all kind of illogical things are being shown and it's being accepted by the audience.

Most people claim that they are Ishra fans, myself included. So, for 3 minutes of Ishra romance every 2 days, we are accepting the mental torture that is being heaped upon us by the CVs. Some critics may ask me "why do u still watch the show then? If u don't like it, then stop." I agree. But sometimes it is hard to let go so part of me lingers round this forum, reading posts, hoping for CVs to find their brains.

I never thought about this show from a child's perspective, which you have done. A few days ago, I wrote a post. One line was on Adi's acting abilities. After posting, I immediately edited it for I realized that the child artist could visit this forum and be affected by my comment. The child is just acting. Whether his parents should intervene about the current track, I can't really comment on that. But I do blame the CVs for the handling of this character. A few observations on the character:

- Adi must be 10-12 years old? He's exposed to the internet, television. He goes to school. Yet he's unable to think on his own? Unless a child is mentally retarded, and I do not mean this as an insult, most children nowadays are really smart. They grasp quickly, and they understand. Even if parents are failing in their roles, values can be gained via observation, good television shows, books, through the internet. Please don't let ur child watch YHM
- Adi has never shown any respect to Raman prior to his current stay in Bhalla house. The child is mostly concerned with his materialistic needs n his selfish mother's plight.
- Adi caused Ama's accident. I never saw any remorse for that. I mostly skipped the accident track so I can be wrong here. Community service didn't help IMHO.
- Adi knew the truth about Ashok. Yet he never told his mother. But he believes his mother when she says that the Iyer sisters have ruined her life. Excuse me, remember Ashok's conversation with Suraj? Remember that Ishita brought ur mother into her home from the kachra she was in??? And Ishita wasn't even in the picture one year ago!!! Common sense, any?
- Now the character is being shown as a manipulative kid. Is the bonding with Raman real?

I honestly cannot connect to this character. I don't understand child psychology but I can differentiate between right and wrong. Everything about this character is wrong, and it is not the child artist's fault. We should all try to remember this when we comment on Adi. As for Ruhi's character, I would defer to the mothers here who think that she's participating in scenes above her age.

As audience, it is our responsibility to object when something wrong is being shown. Whether we like it or not, there are many people who are influenced by TV shows and films. A show which does not empower, focuses on negativity is currently number 2 in India. This worries me. There were other ways to show Adi's redemption which did not include trampling upon a woman's right, providing an unhealthy environment for children, showing a child as evil with no moral compass... Most of u have already commented on all this, so I'll refrain myself. I know that at the end, everything will be alright but did the show really have to go down this route and show all this crazy stuff? I miss the old YHM, which made sense.

The above is my opinion, and is not meant to offend anyone.

Hey Mayu...
I am neither a parent nor a child psychologist, so I don't really know where I stand on the question > whether parents should allow their children to act in such shows/movies where the child may eventually get affected by the negativity? So i really cannot comment on it. As a viewer, I do appreciate the need for child artists, and do realise that they may be losing some part of their childhood experience because of starting to work at a young age.

I do, however, have an opinion on Adi/Gautam & Ruhi/Ruhanika

I recently saw a couple Gautam's bytes on TV. Off-screen, it looked to me like he is a sorted, smart person. And, given his age, I could understand where he is coming from. He was almost making fun of his own character. He said something on the lines of, the Bhallas cannot even throw me out of the house, and he and Anita laughed. I sensed that he understands it's a show, and as Adi, he has to do certain things. If that is the case, then hats off to his parents for raising such a sorted person, and presumably explaining to him the differences between real and reel.

With Ruhanika, I think it is completely different. Whether or not she is playing a positive or negative role in this case is immaterial to me. In the sense, that they aren't just making her be sweet and smile all the time. They are going completely overboard with her maturity. The worst example (and that is the day I stopped looking at Ruhi as an innocent child) for me was when she gave a lecture to the aunties about her mother not being a Baanjh... Good Lord, at that age, my parents wouldn't even have let me be in the room. Ruhi asks Toshiji what baanjh means and then goes on to lecture people about it. I think Ruhanika has a higher chance of being affected by what she sees than Gautam. Even if Ruhanika's character is positive, she's made to see things that are bound to influence her at her age.

bas, that's what I felt. age of the child matters a lot, and I'd be more worried about Ruhanika than Gautam. but yes, the situation isn't ideal for either of them.

PS: I just realised I didnt even compliment you on the post. I am sorry, its totally unlike me

Excellent post Mayu, and very valid points.👏
