I agree with every point of yours...no matter how much the relationship went south u start one with good intentions.Raman might have shared good memories with shagun.and what he said to shagun was forgiving her on her final journey.

Shagun and Raman indeed shared a special bond in the beginning ... Six years is a long time to have some emotional and passionate moments and there must have been moments which were worth recalling ... Raman forgiving Shagun ... I guess this is what he will do when eventually he finds out about her death.

This was heart wrenching. But this is what makes the character of Raman Kumar Bhalla so endearing...a facet that Appa saw before others could even have a clue. Yes he hates Shagun and Ashok...normal for him to do so but what makes him stand apart is his ability to rise above that hatred and do something that is nothing but only humane. Your past defines you and makes you what you are today...your choice to rise above it or sink in it.

You basically summed up the character of RKB here. He definitely is a man who is arrogant and has an acidic tongue but deep down inside, he is also the man who is hurt and only yearning for love. So, eventually, he will end up forgiving Shagun for all her misdeeds for this man cannot think of grudges ... and that is what Appa looked in him way beyond anyone else had ...

Agreeing with this :
when you start any relationship, you always want a happily ever after in it and you invest yourself in it. Whether, it takes a worse turn is another story. In my view, six years is a long time and both Raman and Shagun would at least have some moments which were theirs and there was love between them at one point of time. So, even if Raman hated her in the later part of his life and moved on with Ishita, a part of him will always cherish those brief moments, because he hated Shagun for what she did to him, he never hated the love he had for her. it was pure and honest. So, I personally think, that Raman will definitely mourn her death even if for a brief time, for the sake of the brief happiness they once shared.
