Yes, for Deepavali, every one takes oil bath, wear new clothes, give sweets and savory snacks to family and friends and have a good meal with family and friends.

CVs used their creative licence ...wife never sits on husband's lap in any festival. During the wedding ceremony, almost a century ago, brides were teenagers so they sat in their father's lap at the time of kanyadhaan and groom tying mangalsutra. These days, the bride sits in front of father, bas.

CVs have got some rituals right and the rest they make up as they go along. 😆 They could always visit the forum and hear from Iyers here at least about how the general protocol of festivals and pooja are done.😃

Spot on
Fully agree

It grates on my nerves everything Madhu Iyer refers to Raman as "marumagan" when the actual term is "maapillai". Marumagan is not a term used by the Iyer community.😃

Btw, the term Aiyoo is considered "ashub" and not like Madhu Iyer and Ishita do at the drop of a hat.

somebody had to write this..u did thanks ..👏

Hi thr
Oil bath is a most for us Tamilians on diwali.
either mom or wife apply oil. But making him ssit in a tub and everyone seeing that like a show... I have never seen nor heard that.
Coming to sitting on lap thing... that's from cv's lol..

But there r lots of customs exist for newly married couples. First diwali after marriage is called thala diwali.
The couples r invited to the bride house.
The cousins r all invited, they all gather around and pull grooms leg like anything.
So I was rreally expecting something of that sort where they come to iyers house stay thr and mihika and vandhu pull some pranks...
but today was also better Bcoz I was laughing like hell thinthinking where do they get all these ideas from..
