Somebody wrote that they threw flowers on Ishra 😲

Is that a ritual too while giving Oil bath? sounded weird to me. 😕 Sorry if I hurt sentiments.

CVs creative license again. Maybe it's the modern Skype/Facetime version of delivering ashirwad to newlyweds these days.😆 Hope that laptop is still working, with all those marigold/daisy petal on the keyboard.😆

Some of them must be Punjabi if they know the culture so well. How well do the Southerners and Northerners in India know of each other's culture I wonder!🤔

Yes, for Deepavali, every one takes oil bath, wear new clothes, give sweets and savory snacks to family and friends and have a good meal with family and friends.

CVs used their creative licence ...wife never sits on husband's lap in any festival. During the wedding ceremony, almost a century ago, brides were teenagers so they sat in their father's lap at the time of kanyadhaan and groom tying mangalsutra. These days, the bride sits in front of father, bas.

CVs have got some rituals right and the rest they make up as they go along. 😆 They could always visit the forum and hear from Iyers here at least about how the general protocol of festivals and pooja are done.😃

@bold: I don't know about nowadays but during my parents' time, my mom sat on my nannu's lap. I have seen the video 😆 It still is a tradition for us though. 😃

In the Telugu states the caster seed oil or coconut oil is applied but not all over the body n only on head and this ritual is done by the girl child of that family and later aarthi is shown to all by her n in the case of no girl child in the house they jz take aarthi themselves n go to bath n usually on this day there is a very important puja done by the women That is usually known here as " Nomulu " that means " mangala Gowri vratham " every married couple sits in this and later they may continue with the " Satyanarayana swamy Vratham " on the same day or " kaartheeka pournami " ( a special day which is given equal importance as Diwali and comes on the full moon day that comes in the Telugu month "kaartheeka masam " )
These all happens in our state n sorry guys if it looks weird or lengthy but it actually happens ...
