The problem never was Raman's sarcasm , one liners , rudeness hiding his golden heart, Ishita was fine with it , she grew used to it and later started liking it, she even started
comprehending it .
That was Raman . He could not be charming , well mannered in a conventional sense , but did all the right things when occasions demanded like
putting sister's husband in jail
putting son in community service though wife was ready to take case back
taking responsibility of whole family
being there for wife's family in hospitalization
dropping ex wife who ruined his life home in curfew by keeping personal emotions aside
standing up for her when she is expected to behave like an escort service girl to please his business partners by her current live in bf
Ishita actually understood that behind his camoflauge of rudeness and a dont care attitude , lay a good heart with strong values.
The problem never was his rudeness , she even fondly called him Ravan Kumar.
The problem was Mani . Her going overboard with his praise , regarding him as THE Mr Perfect and rubbing it on Raman's face all the time. To this date no one has told her that she did too much . Her sasural smiled and accepted it , her maika joined her in her bhajans. Actually sasural looks with raised eyebrows when bahu praises male friend so much ...and mother chides her daughter in private to focus on her marraige. Here it was all ulta. A Mani bhajan mandali was formed and Raman walked in night and day to find loud bhajans being sung everywhere ...in his family , in hers, in the bedroom , everywhere . Suddenly he was the bad guy , his wife was nowadays constantly irritated with him or making fun of him and nobody understood him .
Now please , this is strictly my opinion , and i would not even agree with anyone who said that cannot a wife have male friends etc , coz thats not the issue here . I am simply stating what was shown and this WAS shown .
Now there are many who will compare Shagun's presence in Raman's life with Mani's presence in Ishita's and say he deserved it and that Shagun too was rubbed in Ishita's face..
I disagree.
Shagun was Raman's divorced wife , an inevitable ugly past . Mother of his children.
Mani was nobody , just waltzed in from the blue as a 'best friend'.
Raman never talked about her , praised her . Hell , he even hid Mihir's relation with her , so much he hated her topic. He cut Ishita angrily whenever she foolishly tried to bring up her topic , he hated it when she put Shagun in their bedroom and he , the owner of that bedroom was forced to sleep out on the sofa. Like Shagun would have ever given up her bedroom with Ashok for Raman . He drank the dose of humiliation that Ishita forced him to take under the reason of helping a woman grudgingly , for her sake .
Ishita however constantttly talked of Mani . Mani Mani Mani , Mani this and Mani that . Ishita praised Mani . Ishita liked his topic. Her fandom surprised Raman . If he had brought in a girl friend saying he looked cute going with her to school , she in her pigtails and he in his muddy uniform and that she knew everything about him , more than his wife who constantly bugged him , i am sure he would be hated more than Ashok . Shagun is accepted indulgently as all know how much Raman hates her and because there is security for ISHRA relationship in that hate .
Even Ishita's sisters never had a heart to heart with her on the Mani jaap . They never had any individual opinions , were part of a mindless bhajan mandali . The mother surprised me the most , mothers r so perceptive and guide their daughters on the right path .
A marraige that was just taking off never took off because of Mani . Who gave this Mani importance ? Ishita.
However this is no blame on her . I am just saying that it would be nice to see a few scenes for a change where one would show Ishita the other side of the coin too . Why each time slaps only for Romi ? Raman slaps , Ishita slaps , Mr Bhalla slaps , how boring ? Why not show Ishita getting a stern lecture , from Madhu or Vandita the sane sister as Mihika has changed bhajan mandalis nowadays and is in Shagun bhajan mandali ? By no means am i saying she should be slapped . Just a dose ?
I agree with TM when she says why the condition or expectation of change to prove 'love'? When Ishita has not changed an ounce of her naivete or stupidity or tiresome meddling in other people's lives and Raman started liking his Jhansi ki Rani for what she is , why expect him to be like Mani ? He is Raman , not Mani . Raman loved Ishita as she was Ishita , not Shagun .
