Raman's married twice. First Shagun then Ishita but none of them was his wife in truest sense. His present equations with his ex and current wife can be regarded as the most suitable one- Shagun is Adi's mother and Ishita is Ruhi's mother.Raman's first wife regarded him a failure, cheated on him and eventually left him over materialistic things. The betrayal hit the once Happy Bhalla hard. He transformed himself into everything that he wasn't once. This is the price he paid to attain the pinnacle of success. His second marriage with Ishita was a marriage of convenience. Both of them got married for their own selfish reasons. Initially they hated each other, both had wrong images about each other on their minds. Once the view got cleared they became friends. But neither of them wanted to work on their marriage which was fine since it's a contract marriage only. Now suddenly Mani came into the picture, tagged Raman as a failed husband and reprimanded him for not working on his marriage? Did Mani for once speak to Ishita what had she done to progress their relationship? Some may argue she brought Raman-Ruhi close, wanted Adi to get reformed, took good care of his family members. But Ishita herself agreed many times she did it for Ruhi's happiness. She wanted her daughter to have a good relationship with her father and brother. She wanted to ensure a loving family atmosphere for her daughter. She openly declared after DNA fiasco, she exposed the truth to bring the happiness back for Ruhi. She didn't do it to relief Raman's pain. Ruhi was the main intention of all her actions and Raman was the by product beneficiary which was fine as it was the sole purpose of her marriage. But she didn't do much to work on her marriage other than making Palak Paneer, Chola Bhature and a marathon fasting during Varalakhsmi puja. She's always busy either in social services or jagga jassosi work for others. Now all of a sudden Raman is ONLY responsible NOT to work on his marriage? Actually he gave more meanings to their marriage than Ishita did. He of course did lots of things for Iyers but that wouldn't count as Ishita too did her part for Bhallas even if it's for Ruhi only. But Raman wanted to make new memory with her, she didn't respond. Raman wanted to get close with her, he got a "CHEE" from Ishita in return. Raman didn't think once to resign from his presidentship to get back her dental license. He put a nameplate of her in front of Bhalla house where he himself didn't have this privilege. These are clear signals from his side that he wants to move on with her but every time he got cold shoulder from Ishita as a response. Then why blaming Raman? If anyone is to blame, it's Ishita.

Another interesting fact the Mani track brought. Ishita and Shagun are very different in nature but their expectaion from Raman is same. They both want Raman to behave in their own likings. If he behaves as per their likings, they would shower love to him and if he doesn't he's not worthy of their loves. Had Raman been this successful as he is now, Shagun would never leave him rather she would shower all her love to him.Similarly, Ishita wants Raman to behave as per her likings only to shower her love. When Raman behaves the way she likes she says " aaj aap mere Raman ho gaye" and bestows all her love to him. When he doesn't, he is rude, insensitive, careless according to her. Can we call it LOVE? Does love come with a "shaart" (clause)? She surely would've some expectations from him but behaving so extremely is not love, at least to me. If you want to change your lover, want to behave only the way you like then you're not in love in the first place. Raman in his all life searched for the elusive love but he didn't get it from any of them. At the end of the day, Raman is all alone and he'll always will be...

You pointed out some ugly truths. 😆 I more or less agree with your two main points: Raman so far worked on thier marriage but Ishita didn't and Ishita's love for Raman is conditional.

It just amuses me how few posts portray Raman as the perfect guy who has done EVERYTHING for the marriage while she remains as the most imperfect one who needs to be blamed for everything that their marriage lacks.! Wow...

May be he should just leave her and lead a bachelors life since she hasn't done ANYTHING for him and their relation.!

Though a nice post, but disagree to many points, though valid considering from one perspective.

Ishita married Raman for Ruhi agree. She bridged the gap between Ruhi and Raman not only for Ruhi, indirectly she did that for the whole Bhalla family too. The whole family wanted their good relation, so she tried hard to fix that.
You indirectly said Raman accepted her the way she is. He never expected anything good from her. Sorry mam. You missed some points here. Raman started accepting her only when he realized that Ishita takes full care of him, Ruhi and his whole family. Then he says..she takes care of everything, she is a good girl. Doesn't it sound like a condition to be a good wife for him, doesn't it sound like he had a big expectation from her? Till then, Ishita never expected him to be sensitive, trusting, loveable to her. She would never realized it if Mani dint come again. I thank Mani for that. Cos, marriage is not only a compromise for a woman, but also a man. When both compromises, then it becomes successful and love can get it way. Ishita compromised will all of his family's bullshits including him for the sake of his family. Only this led Raman to like her and love her. Same way, Ishita now expects Raman to give her respect and trust and love. I have seen wives around me. They at first hand expect respect and love from husbands, then come money.
If Raman did many things for Ishita and his family, if Ishita did only one thing na..still that equals. Cos, she returned the life of the Bhalla family...Ruhi. Sooner or later, Shagun would've snatched her if Ishita even dint interfere. But, Ishita secured that.

Ishita has lots of flaws. One is she thinks of others before her marriage and Raman. These flaws can't make anyone forget her good deeds.
Main fact is you can't say her love is conditional just thinking from Raman's perspective. I am obliged to point out from Ishita perspective mainly when I see Raman's misdeeds are justified with lots of silly reasons even and Ishita is showed as a selfish and self involved character.
And, in a marriage both the men and women have expectations. You just have to think from both view.
