Part 26

Ashok Khanna and his friend

Raman entered the party for the family and colony guests, searching for that one figure that he couldn't stay away from. The exultant feeling he gets around her is immeasurable. He feels the world under him. Just as he was about search for her amongst the family members Shagun appeared, this lady will never accept her defeat, will she?

"Raman, Kisse dhond rahe ho? Mein yaha hu!"

Ye Phir aagayi najane isse samjh kyu nahi aata! Ye toh na sacchi! Bahut irritating hai! But wait ye yaha kar kya rahi hai? Isse kisne bulaya?
"Tum yaha kya kar rahi ho?" Raman asked surprised.

"Aree Raman mein apne Bhai ki shaadi mein toh aaongi hi! Toh party mein kyu nahi?" Raman was about to retort but Mihir interrupted, "It's ohk, Bhai let it be! Humne toh invitation sirf Ashok ko bheja tha! Isse paata chal gaya aur patani kyu aagayi! Now let it be, bhabhi is waiting for you! Let's go!" Mihir and Raman went away while Shagun kept shooting daggers around, nowhere in particular.

(I guess I'm right! Shagun-Mihir brother sister, if not then let's assume!)

While Raman and Mihir were walking it suddenly struck Raman, "Aree Mihir Ashok ko kisne bulaya?"

Mihir answered softly hoping it not goes against his delighted mood "Wo Bhabhi ne bulaya!"

Raman was about to ask the reason when they reached the family and saw that Mr. Bhalla, Toshiji, Mr. Iyer and Mrs. Iyer stood together. On the other hand Romi stood with Sarika, Neil and Mihika while Ishita stood with Ashok. Raman cringed at the sight. Mihir noticed that but before he could say anything Bala took him away with himself leaving Raman all by himself.

He went closer to them.

"Aree Ishita tum aaj iss saree mein bahut pretty lag rahi ho! Raman toh gaya!" Ashok laughed.

"Nahi aisa kuch nahi hai!" Ishita smiled.

Something twitched inside Raman to see him share his laugh with his wife. Ye Ishita ko paata hai na mujhe aacha nhai lagta usse kissi ke saath dekhna! Matlab har roz aisa kuch karna zaroori hai? Kabhi wo Armaan or aaj toh Subbu or Ashok! I wonder inke pass inki biwiya nahi hai kya? Idiots! Zayada sweet wife hona bhhi problem hai! Aur ye Ishita ka toh kabhi pata he nahi chalta kab mazak hai aur kab serious hai? Ab kya paata sachi usse baat kar rahi hai ya natak! I know Ishita loves me and I trust her!

Ye sahi hai Raman ye bol ki usse trust karta hai lakin khade khade boil ho! His inner voice scolded him.

Aree yaar I trust her but not these people.

His thoughts were broken by Bala's voice, "Raman! Mihir ne bataya mujhe! Tum Ashok ke aane se pareeshaan ho! Don't worry Ishu ke aisa karne ke peeche reason hoga! I'm sure!" Bala consoled him.

"Ashok pehle he mera beta cheen chukka hai mujhse!" Raman said sadly. "Ishita ko nahi kho sakta thoda pagal sa ho gaya hu!"

Bala could not help but smile, he did notice the fact that he only mentioned Adi. Bala was contented happy. He wanted to help Raman as much as he can. Meri Ishu sirf tumhare saath khush hai Raman. "Tum pagal nahi ho Raman sirf apne cheeze khone se darte ho!"

They were so engrossed in their talks that they didn't notice Ashok standing beside them, "Raman! Wo cheeze khoti hai jinka tum dhyaan na rakho, ya phir wo cheeze which are not made for you. You can't lose those things which are the reason for your existence, because those things realise their importance in your life and your importance in theirs." Ashok paused as he saw shocked faces looking at him. "Relax! Mein koi lecture nahi dene aya tumhare liye uske liye your wife is enough! All I'm here is to apologise to you Raman, I'm sorry for what happened in past between us. I was always like this, running behind money and fun. When I met Shagun she was the same her aspirations were same too money and a luxuries lifestyle. I was attracted by this! I had nothing against you neither did I ever snatch Shagun from you. She was never made for you. She left you for herself, not me. I was hardly concerned about you till the time we fought and you insulted me. Blinded by revenge I just wanted to hurt you. She filled my mind with filth against you and we both set out to hurt you even more at every chance we got. I had an attitude that I could buy anything with my money. Shagun had the same attitude. We were good until I met Ishita that day in my house. I was moved by the simplicity and love a woman could carry. Shagun Adi se pyaar karti hai lakin utna nahi jitna ek mother ko karna chahiye because she was spoiling and misguiding him! Uss din Ishita ki aankho mein apne husband ki first wife ke bacche ke liye jo pyaar dekha usne mujhe force kar diya ye realise karne ke liye iss duniya mein ek cheez hai jo mein Kabhi mooney se buy nahi karsakta wo hai love." He paused again. He had his eyes watery so did the two of the listeners. "Ishita and her love is priceless Raman. No one can ever take her away from you. I just wish kash mein Shagun ke peechenahi jaata toh aaj ho sakta hai Ishita tumpar nahi mujhpe pyaar... Anyway it's stupid of me to think like that because any girl like Ishita would never have appreciated a man like me..." he was cut by a female voice. "Tum hamesha se ache the Ashok..." They turned around to see Ishita. "Bus you didn't have somebody to guide you right. I hope now you find somebody who does that."

Ashok smiled, "Tumhari ek behen thi jo ab Mihir ki wife hai? Clone available hai kya?"

Ishita, Bala and Raman laughed at that.

"Nahi clone toh nahi hai! Kyuki tumhe Ishia jaisi life partner ki nahi usse bhi better ki zaroorat hai! Kyuki tum Ravan Kumar se bhi zayada crazy ho!" Ishita laughed with Bala as Raman and Ashok stared at her.

"Ye kuch zayada nahi ho raha hai?" Raman asked angrily.

"Kuch?" Ashok too questioned angrily.

Again four of them busted out laughing.

"Waise tumhe pata hona chahiye Ishita tumahra Ravan Kumar bahut possessive hai tumko leke! Thank god bach gaya mein!" Ashok raised his hands in air mocking surrender.

"Pata hai!" Both Ishita and Bala laughed speaking together.

Raman glared at Ishita. "Mrs. Bhalla kahi aisa na ho itna hasna utna he rone mein badal jaye!" Thinking it to be another taunt Bala and Ashok ignored it but Ishita knew what he meant exactly.

"Acha ab mein Ashok ko bakki sabse humare dost ki tarah milwake aata hu!" Bala said. They both were about to leave when Raman called out to Ashok. "I'm sorry for whatever I had said and done too!"

"Haan! Zaroor! Ab zayada senti mat ho! Next contract toh Ashok Khanna ko he milega!" Both laughed and hugged.

Bala and Ishita gave each other an assuring smile.

After both of them left Raman moved closer to Ishita. "Aaj kiya toh kiya aainda mere possessive hone ka mazak udaya na... You don't have any idea what will happen to you." He spoke in a firm tone looking in her eyes. Ishita shuddered as Raman looked at her with raw passion in his eyes. Unable to answer she nodded her head. "Good!" he spoke in a soft tone and smiled as he bent forward and quickly stole a kiss on her cheek.

Ye Raman bhi na! Ishita gave a nervous smile. Aiyyoo Amma aaj raat baccha lena!
