Aamir Ali has a new job

These days apart from acting, something else is keeping Aamir Ali busy. Aamir is busy doing the interiors of his new house. The actor is often seen rushing home, after shoots. Furnishing and setting up the dcor, keeps him very busy, leaving no time for work-outs, partying or hanging out with his buddies. So, right now it's choosing colours, fabrics and tiles that's on Aamir's mind!

"I still share a great professional relationship with Ekta Kapoor"--Aaamir Ali

He is surely one actor who has grown steadily over the past few years. With his debut show Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Aamir Ali shot up the popularity charts. The model turned actor is currently busy with the Sahara Show Woh Rehne Wali Mahlon Ki. In a tete-tete with Prashant Golecha, the actor gives a glimpse into his personal and professional life.

What's the real Aamir Ali like?

Smiles….Aamir is a simple, straightforward and a no non-sense kind of a guy. His penchant for adventure has seen him travel all over, thanks to my mom for that.

When you look back at your career, how has the journey been so far?

I was a college student and took up flying with Air-Sahara. Soon after I started getting modelling offers. Cheeta Bhi Peeta hai, the caption line of my ad for Mountain Dew made me noticeable. After that I kept doing ads with Pradeep Sarkar. Then I did a film called Yeah Kya Ho Raha Hai, which was an average at the box office. After this film I decided to do serious projects and took up the role of Samir in Kahaani...

But you disappeared suddenly from Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki?

Actually my character Samir was not moving forward and the generation leap was happening. I discussed this issue with the creative people from Balaji and we mutually decided to part ways. I never had any conversation with Ekta Kapoor on that. But I still share a great professional relationship with Ekta Kapoor and Balaji.

Has Balaji offered you anything post your exit from Kahaani?

No. Nothing like that.

How did you bag the Sahara show, Woh Rahne Wali Mahlon Ki?

I never tried too hard to get that role. Infact it was Rajshree Productions who called me and told me about the show. Since the role sounded great, I had a meeting with Kavita Bharjataya and accepted the offer.

What really attracted you to Woh Rehne Wali Mahlo Ki?

Well, the show is a beautiful love story between two characters, Pari, played by Reena Kapoor and Saumya played by me. The show allows me to play a character that I haven't attempted before. For an actor nothing is as great as playing varied roles. Now, my character is going through a transformation phase and I am sure the audience is going to love it equally.

You are friendly with Reena Kapoor as well as Poonam Joshi. Whom do you like the more?

They are both great pals of mine. Though I have worked with Reena for quite some time but I am very fond of Poonam Joshi. The reason being that Poonam is crazier while Reena is a sweet sober kinds.

You were linked with Minisha Lamba and Mahek. Comment.

Both of the girls are great human beings and it's great to be linked with them. I know both of them since a long time now and whenever we bump into social parties we meet as friends. I have never worked with Minisha but me and Mahek have worked together in the forthcoming film Anjaan.

Since you are single describe your dream woman.

She has to be a dream woman. Laughs!!

Which medium do you prefer, television or films?

There's nothing like being choosy about the mediums. Both are creative platforms. What really drives me is acting. If I am getting a great role, I would lap it up irrespective of the medium it belongs to.

Recently it was reported in a leading tabloid that you refused the offer of the lead in Kulvaddhu?

Kulvaddhu is something I don't want to talk about. All I can say is that it is a good show.

What is common between you and Aamir Khan?

Besides the first name there is no similarity. He is one of my favourite actors. He is far better looking and far talented actor than me.

Are you considered a chocolate type of a guy?

I might be. Thanks to my mother and father and also Balaji and Rajshree production for presenting me nicely.

What's the difference you found working for Balaji and Rajshree's?

Rajshree's are known to be sweet and they are actually sweet. Balaji is known to be a troublesome production house but they are not. Balaji is very professional and I had a great time working for Balaji.

What are your future plans?

At the moment I am busy with Woh Rehne Wali….plus I am doing up the new house I have recently purchased. I hope things would shape up fine for me in the coming time.

Aamir Ali's got a new father and grandfather

Talk about coincidence, Aamir Ali will tell you about it. His on screen father and grandfather coincidentally got replaced on the show Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki in which he plays the role of Saumya.

Aamir suddenly started feeling out of place when he had to shoot with his father or grandfather because of the sudden switch in people. When all this while he was shooting comfortably with two people, now he has to act in the same natural way towards the two new men.

"It was funny one day I was shooting with two people and the next with two completely different people in the same roles. But it's ok, the members keep changing but we are afterall a family."

Way to go Aamir, the acting is what we are concerned with !!

Life is a moment in space, and when the dream is gone, it's a lonelier place. Actress Kamya Punjabi is going through chronic depression after her break-up with Sahila Chaddha's husband, Nimay Bali. The actress has completely alienated herself and has been living an isolated existence post her break-up. Kamya who is known to be a party animal no longer attends any. And neither is she taking any phone calls from her friends in TV.

Kamya Punjabi
The actress has always been famous for her jovial attitude on the sets. Of late, the scene is entirely different. Says a co-star of Kamya from Banoo Main Teri Dulhann, "Kamya was one of the liveliest women around. Sadly, of late, I wonder if she is the same person I knew. She never speaks to anyone on the sets and completes her shoot without uttering even a single word."

Adds another co-actor, "She has always been one of the actors who used to finish her work fast and leave the set as early as possible. Now, if she has been asked to work over-time, she does no have any issues unlike in the past. I find this the hardest to believe given how social Kamya was. I wonder if it's the same Kamya!"

Another close friend has expressed concern about Kamya's sombre, depressive phase. "I have called her numerous times. But, she never takes any call. She has barred herself from the party circuit completely. I am really worried about Kamya. She needs to understand that life is all about moving on," says the friend who is distraught about this low in Kamya's life.

When contacted, Kamya was candid about her enforced solitude. "I am all alone. I just can't get over the loneliness in life. I am not in a position to talk to anybody. So, I have kept myself busy with work and more work. I have stopped arguing with my production house regarding timings. My work is what has kept me alive. I know that the few good friends I have are very angry because I have not been sharing my feelings with them. I have also stopped going to parties because I can't pretend that I am happy, when I am far from it," said the actress who lives alone in her home at Thakur Complex, Kandivali.

"My family stays at Borivali. Now and then, the loneliness gets to me but I am just unable to get out of this spell. I can't even go out of town for a vacation since I am so caught up with my two shows currently. The darker side of life is suddenly manifest to me," says the actress, who is trying to figuring out when it was that all the laughter died…

Mamma Mia: Aamir Ali

Aamir's a good son

Aamir Ali has played the doting son on screen several times, but he's currently playing the same in real life as well. The actor's mother, Nargis Malik, suffered a mild stroke and is currently recuperating in Lilavati hospital.

Says Aamir, "She's much better than before. Fortunately, I had a late shoot the day she had the stroke, so I immediately rushed her to the hospital and made sure she was given proper medical attention."

He adds that the reason behind her illness is her habit of taking unnecessary stress. "She gets hyper really fast and with all the decoration work happening in the house I think it got to her.

She's been advised bedrest till she fully recovers. Thankfully, the production house of Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki has been really kind to give me adequate leave."

We wish Mrs Malik a speedy recovery as well.

Buddha mil gaya

Looking for peace: Poonam Joshi

Poonam Joshi might be playing a negative character (Sanjana) in Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, but she couldn't be further from the truth in real life.

The actress has been an avid follower of Buddhism for over three years and believes it does wonders for individuals.

She says its most influential preaching is that 'you' are the most powerful force and that you don't have to look outside for validation, rather look within.

Besides lapping up books on the subject, she also attends meetings organised by Soka Gakkai (an organisation that promotes peace, culture and education based on the philosophy of Buddhism).

Poonam is not the only TV actor who follows Buddhism. Other denizens like Tisca Chopra, Sandeep Rajora, Shweta Kawaatra and hubby Manav Gohil are also said to be followers of the teachings. Now you know where to go to get your Buddha fix.

Aamir is shooting in sickness

Aamir Ali alias Saumya of 'Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Main' of Sahara One recently had to continue with his shoot despite of being sick and down with fever.

And adding woe to misery, the sequence had to be shot in rain. The poor chap had to shoot throughout the night in the rain water and was just hoping his condition wouldn't worsen. But now he is better and back with full steam.

"I am glad the rains didn't cause my condition to worsen, but I was cautious enough to take medications as a precaution," says Aamir.

Good thinking Aamir! Just one question - Are you taking that extra pain because of your professionalism, or because you dont want to lose out on your only project in hand! - SAMPURN

Amir Ali is secular

Soumya (Amir Ali) of Woh Rahene wali Mahalon Ki read the shlokas from the Ramayana for one scene last week. This is the first time he had read a religious book but has visited churches, temples and dargahs. The shlokas were in Sanskrit but had to be translated into Hindi.

Amir says: "I did that scene last week. Mir is playing husband of Pari (Reena Kapoor). Last week he had to do one scene in which I had to hold Ramayana and read one shloka from that.

"The entire shloka was in Sanskrit. I practiced that scene a couple of times. They had written those lines for me in Hindi. My director is very nice to me and we have great co-ordination amongst us. Further my cameraman who is from UP, had read Ramayana so he helped me to pronounce some words. This was the first time I was reading any spiritual book. But even so I managed to complete it in first take. The moral (yatartha) of the shloka was written over there. So I understood the meaning of the shlok when I had read it.

"It was like Agni pariksha for me. It was written in Sanskrit and I don't understand that language. I even don't understand Urdu. I can understand only two languages that is Hindi and English. My mum is learning Arabic and she knows Urdu as well. We generally talk in Hindi at home. In future if need arises I will learn Urdu. I don't believe in spirituality what I believe is that there is only one God. I usually visit the church, the temple and dargah as well. During my school days, every week I used to visit the church and I have also visited Siddhivinayak temple couple of time with my friends. I have also visited Mahim Haji Ali and Ajmer Dargah.

"I have never read any spiritual book because I believe that it is useless to get influenced by any book and start following the teachings of that particular book. I always follow what I feel is good for me."

Earlier Amir did Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki and films like Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai and Anjaan.

This week we try and dissect Reema Kapoor, better known as Pari from Who Rehne Wali Mahlon Ki. What is Pari like in real life? Cousin Shalini tells all...

On Reel
But first a recall of her on screen image: Pari of Woh Rehne wali Mahlon...). Pari loves her husband Soumya Parashar (Aamir Ali) very much. But her husband is in love with another woman named Sanjana (Ponam Joshi). Pari is aware of the fact but still she is very dedicated to her husband and thinks that one day he will understand her love and reciprocate. She is shy, sober and she is very devotional and strongly believes in God.

In Reality
Off-screen reality as told by Shalini Kapoor, her cousin, also a TV who plays Manorama in Sollah Shringar.
"My dad and her dad are twins. Sometimes I wonder that how she has done the role of Pari-who is very chup chap, sober, very much of an introvert. But in real she is the biggest prankster, very fun loving, she loves to party. I remember during our early days all of us used to stay in Yaari Road. Three of us used to go for walks in the night-there were many eve-teasers around us. She had taken panga with one of them and told him off by saying "Don't try to act very smart." But whenever I call her didi, she gets angry.

    Not so 'chair'ming

While most people enter the acting arena with a background in drama, Aamir Ali has just one play to his credit, that too one he did way back in school.

But that's not what this nugget is about. What really had us falling off our chairs in laughter was the role that Aamir played in that theatrical production – that of a chair (yes, you heard us right)!

Aamir (who is currently playing the role of Saumya in Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki) makes up for the loss of face by saying that he had no plans on getting into acting at that point in time. "Dramas and plays were not something I indulged in much.

That play was the only one I took part in, and now you guys won't let me forget it for the rest of my life. Of course, I would love to act in plays now and erase the memory of my previous stint in theatre!" We're not sure if that will help!
