I agree feminism is about choice but there is a concept in feminism called restricted choice. If you have been fed your entire life that you should take care of your family and make sacrifices for others (as Tejo has), then what will she naturally be inclined to do here? And it is a show playing on television, where they would redeem Fateh. So what happens then? The message is once again that woman should just forgive. What we see on television does play into the larger narrative & structural makeup that woman should just forgive and move on with their partner.
The fact she wants to catfight Jasmine to reveal her true face makes no sense to me - that also plays into the age old trope of women knocking each other down, instead of having strength to just let it go.
Tejo has on multiple occasions says "tumne mujhe isliye choda," what does that imply - still internal competition between two FL. Why not turn around and say "yo if he can betray his wife, he will leave you too."
And do no apologize, it is a constructive back and forth :)
I would consider Fateh and his redemption when it happens, it hasn't happened yet and I really hope this goes silsila way and there is no redemption. Cheating, heartbreak, lies, manipulations, they leave a far deeper wound that people associate with it when they read or see stories, and those wounds don't always completely heal. All you can do is find ways of owning up to your scars and making peace with them. And that is what I see Tejo doing. Her way of making peace is ruining them to the level they did to her, and that is actually healthier than what Jasmine is doing since she is still manipulating and lying while Tejo is just retorting. She never wanted this fight, in fact she happily walked away and she was broken with no clue what next. Jasmine started the fight, she kept insulting Tejo instead of now shutting up since she was getting everything she wanted, and Tejo found her what next. A fight to ruin the ones who think they can continue insulting her, now more openly since hiding isn't needed.
I understand your restrictive choice theory, but for me, it is still choice. We are all prisoners of our birth, it defines us somewhere whether we like it or not. I have also been bought up with the thought process that family is most important and at times you need to sacrifice for the ones you love, and I have sacrificed my dreams and career for mine multiple times, and I can say this today that I have no regrets. When I see my family happy, I know I made the right choices for the collective even if they set me back in life. It is sort of like marriage, some sacrifices will always come, it just depends till where you conscience permits you without ruining you. Tejo isn't ruined , she is just broken and this is giving her something to do right now. She needs to burn this hatred out because she has been broken in the worst manner. Her sister! I don't think there is anyone who wishes to be Tejo right now. Husband, best friend, in-laws, they all come later in life and came with a marriage, love, arranged, sacrifice doesn't matter here, her sister was the one she had since her birth and that has to be the deepest wound, which is why she is lashing out the most on her. Also, when it comes to sacrifices, Tejo earlier also sacrificed her self respect multiple times for Jasmine and even Fateh, she needs to learn that while some sacrifices are needed, not everyone in her life is worth sacrificing for.
Yes, she is comparing Jasmine and herself, because right now, that is the pain she has. Her husband left her for her sister, the sister who constantly used to say earlier also how she is the more pretty one, more popular one, has more friends while Tejo only has Jasmine. Any wife, even Mouli did in silsila, will compare herself to the mistress and wonder where it all went wrong, we all do that when we even find out our ex is dating someone, here he wasn't even the ex. Tejo is just being vocal about it because she is so disgusted at her sister and husband. Had this been a stranger, she doesn't seem like someone who will do it this openly, but here her disgust is very valid and very visible.
