Thank you katherine so much. Was wanting to write this since many days... just thought of giving it a try
Interesting start.
Of course Chakor is the ring leader.
Raghav is already attracted to Chakor, but it seems he irritates her.
Eagerly waiting for next.
Nikki dear🤗
Which ever I want to relish and enjoy the most slowly and steadily I used to keep it for last. Reading is one such. I do same way for sumi too. Same way on seeing your new story ,without opening, I planned to read at night and enjoy.
Omg, when I opened and saw the backdrop of story in sneak peak, surely a bouncer from Sumi's bossy💞👌 . History is my fav💜 from school days though engineering was the profession.
Tell the truth nikki dear...Are you just an avid reader or a awesome writer from before.
Actually we are blessed to read two different styles of writing from the bossy and her cutie💗. When one sweeps me away with the emotions blended in hers , the other sweeped me with her narrative style.👏
Her stories is like a life book, like I am reading real chapters of life and yours was like a cherished old book that took from library and read with so much excitement.
ok enough of my comparisons..in short I enjoy both your stories and love you both.💞
Coming back to story,
loved chakor being young leader( can easily visualise) and raghav being the not so keen on things that seem impractical. And KN positive, ya hard to get but good to imagine.
I am loving the first part. very interesting. seems an intriguing story. You too teased us with your sneak peak and 1st part . Now just follow your cutie footsteps and give us a early update.
I am so eager to read next part. Actually i want to read all at once☺
Mesh.... Good to see your reply.... thank you dear❤❤
@uma .....whoa you really are a good writer yourself... your analysis is👏👏👏 thanks for the big words but I am more of a reader than a writer.....and yes KN positive difficult to imagine...it was for me too...... but then I thought why not... why not have a normal, happy, 1920 types family for a change..... 😍😍
Thanks a ton Sri for taking time out and reading this
First of all so sorry Niki di for replying so late..actually was busy making drafts for d trend since 5 pm thn started trending hence d late feed back..so Raghav is KN nd Teju's adopted son that's really interesting.. positive KN too is quite intriguing.. disinterested Raghav, Chakor leading d movement, Ragkor's first eye contact.. all those moments r 😍😍👌👌👌can't wait to see how KN-Raghav equation unfolds nd how will Raghav-Chakor saga unfolds..Awsm start Niki di👏👏👏👏
Their arrival at Chakor’s house created a mini furore. Chakor’s parents came running out to welcome them. They were at a loss to understand the purpose of the visit but nonetheless greeted both of them whole heartedly. Chairs were quickly putout, tea made and peeping heads could be seen at all the windows. Chakor was called. She greeted Kamalnarayan with utmost respect and just glanced at Raghav who could not understand why his heart had missed a beat!
Kamalnarayan told Chakor of his visit to Mr. John and his concerns. But Chakor in all modesty refused to bow down. She said that this was her village, her Hindustan and she would do everything in her power to help the freedom struggle. Ragha butted in asking her what she would achieve protesting in Azadganj to which he got a cold stare in reward.
She told Kamalnarayan that the news of protests in their village would soon spread to the neighbouring villages and like this if one by one all quietly rise against the British, then nothing could prevent our country from getting her Independence. Sir, said she, we all have to do our bit towards the nation. The sacrifice of the people at Jallianwala Bagh cannot be forgotten so easily. She was speaking with fervour. I know that I am a small drop in a big ocean but small drops indeed finally make the ocean.
Kamalnarayan was impressed by this petite courageous girl. He said …I have done my duty of warning you beta. I appreciate your courage. Just be cautious and take care. They took their leave. Raghav just stole a glance at her. He didn’t quite understand whether he was impressed with her eyes, her moon like face or her small impressive speech. He had felt something ignite within him for the first time. These entire proceedings were being observed and heard by one very intently who immediately ran to the British Chhaoni.
It didn’t escape Chakor’s eyes that Raghav was observing her intently during the entire talk. She couldn’t comprehend why! but soon forgot about it. Her parents tried to reason with her that she should give up her idealistic ways but she was adamant.
Everyday news kept pouring in about the atrocities of the British all over India. There was discontentment everywhere. It was during these disturbed times that Gandhiji gave his clarion call of Non-cooperation. It aimed to resist British Rule in India through non-violence. Surprisingly, the veteran lot of leaders like Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Bipin Chandra Pal, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Annie Baesant were not very keen about the movement but the younger generation of Indian nationalists was thrilled and decided to back Gandhiji. As a part of the non-cooperation movement, Gandhiji called upon the people
to surrender all titles and honorary offices
to refuse to attend government or semi-government functions,
to boycott foreign goods
to boycott British courts
to establish native educational institutions etc.
Chakor was very impressed with the Non-cooperation movement. She along with her troupe tried to spread the swadeshi concept (indigenous goods) in the village. Khadi had become a symbol of freedom for all. Vikrant was also very active. These guys would meet in an empty shed in the village at night to discuss and plan how they could take the freedom struggle a notch higher. Some of them had friends in Lucknow who were Congress activists. They tried to get in touch with them to know whether these guys could help outside Azadganj too.
From the day Raghav came back from Chakor’s house, he couldn’t get her out of his mind. He casually spoke with Vikrant regarding her and was more than amazed listening to Vikrant talk about her with high regard. Vikrant cajoled Raghav in coming and attending one of their sessions. Raghav who now more than ever wanted to know Chakor well, decided to go. Mr. Kamalnarayan asked him to be careful. He felt happy that Raghav was showing some keenness towards the freedom struggle. Though the actual reason he was unaware of!!!!!
Mr. John was getting all the news from time to time. The informant was paid handsomely to keep him happy.
It was one of the usual nights when the group would meet. Anybody who wanted to join the group, whether old or young, was made to fill a form giving all his/her personal details and swear allegiance and secrecy and Chakor would ensure to keep a tab on the new joinee till she was satisfied of his/her genuineness. Also all major discussions would happen only after the crowd dispersed because only a handful were the trusted ones. This was the CORE COMMITTEE. Vikrant was one of them. He had already informed Chakor that he would be getting Raghav with him. Chakor was not very happy about it because she knew Raghav’s opinion on the freedom struggle. Infact she couldn’t understand why he wanted to attend the session. But nonetheless she said agreed.
Raghav had mixed feelings all through the day. He couldn’t understand what was wrong with him. Those eyes were becoming unforgettable.
Finally Vikrant and he reached the shed. Chakor greeted him with a smile and went about conducting the meeting. Raghav was very impressed with her. The way she spoke about Hindustan, the atrocities of the British, the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, the non-cooperation movement gave Raghav goosebumps and he started feeling that he should also be doing something to further the cause.
The informant had managed to join the group. But he yet had no access to anything substantial as the core group never let out anything to anybody. He was trying his best. Mr. John was also getting uneasy, He of course knew about these meetings but he wanted to know whether anything big was being planned under the guise of these meetings.
Another member of the core committee, Rana had some big news. So the crowd was asked to disperse, with work assigned to a few of them to be done till the next meeting. Raghav was also sent out as he was not a part of the core group. He decided to wait for Vikrant.
The core committee was in an intense discussion. Rana’s friend in Lucknow who was an extremist had requested him to help make grenades and bombs. They had some big plan up their sleeves which even Rana was unaware of but would jolt ENGLAND, his friend had said. Chakor, an ardent Gandhi follower was unhappy about this. She didn’t like the violent way of doing things. She was trying to explain her viewpoint.
Outside in the dark, Raghav was lost in his thoughts, when he heard a rustle in the bushes nearby. Since it was a new moon night, he crept cautiously towards the sound. He saw somebody with a blanket over his head, waiting. He grew suspicious. He couldn’t see the face. He decided to wait and watch. In what seemed an eternity, he saw a second person accosting this fellow. Both were discussing something animatedly, in low pitched voices. Finally the meeting came to an end and they started walking back. One of them switched on his torch after ascertaining that nobody was around. That is when Raghav got a glimpse of their faces. One was Mr. John’s deputy andthe other was Chakor’s cousin whom he had seen in the meeting today.
Raghav realised that something was fishy. He decided to warn Chakor. But because he was not sure of what was going on, he decided to tell her when she was alone. And he thought it best to tell her tonight when she would be going back home. He decided to hide and wait for her. …….......
