What about Suraj?

Chakor is a wonderful person. If there were indeed people like her in our real life, unquestionable, the world would be a better place. She is selfless when it comes to saving Suraj's life and helping the villagers to free themselves from KN's claws. She never wanted to be successful in her career in order to satisfy her own ego. She wanted to use her fame to serve others. Maybe that's why it was so easy for her to win so many races. Her motivation was stronger while for the other athletes it was just a matter of money and fame.

But when it comes to her recent equation with Suraj, I dislike her robotic manner in which she deals with him. She treats Suraj as he has no past, no present, no future, no feelings. She is always repeating: we should do this, and we should that, you should be doing this and that so that KN is back to jail and the villagers are free; we need to catch Ragni and everything will be alright...
But not once, not even for a second, she is not reflecting on the fact that she is actually talking about Suraj's own and only family that he has in this world. Does she realize in which position Suraj is?

- his relationship with his own father, once based on love and respect, has now deteriorated to the point that his father sees no purpose in this life apart from killing and making his own son suffering;
- his mother was thrown out of the house and now lives in poverty (no discussion here if she deserves it or not, I am just presenting her current state);
- his only sister, Ragni, is after his life; for those who have not fallow the show from the beginning, I'll let you know that Suraj cared for Ragni and she used to care for him too; Suraj always looked after her; maybe sometimes he was annoyed to have her around all the time just as any elder brother would be with his little sister, but he did care for her.

I still remember when Ragini scolded Chakor for pointing the finger at Suraj and pushed Chakor in order to punish her for this. Chakor wanted to hit Ragni back but Suraj stepped in to defend Ragni. And when she came back home after missing for ten years, he was more than happy to have her around again. He accepted her even after he found out that she is his half sister.

Having said all of these, has Chakor ever considered how Suraj must be feeling to see his own family torn apart like this? I've liked Suraj since his childhood days most of all because I noticed that all he wanted was not money and power, like many people have misunderstood, but he wanted the love and the appreciation of his father. And not only this, he wanted to see his parents happy. He valued money and power because these is what his own parents valued. I always believed that Chakor and Suraj are the "two faces of the same coin". If Suraj had been born into a bandhua family, he would have done everything and even more than Chakor did to free his parents.

Paying attention to this character since his childhood days, I can tell for sure that all these family problems affect him deeply. Just because he doesn't complain about it, it doesn't mean that he is not hurt.

So, what about Suraj after KN and Ragni will be in jail? Chakor will return to her family and live happily while Suraj will go back to an almost empty house where he will see daily the woman that he loves living happily with Vivaan.
I, for one, don't believe at all that Suraj has ever loved Imli or that the child was his, but Chakor believes this version. So, knowing this, she never once consoled him for losing Imli because she thought he fully deserves it. It is his punishment. And never once asked him how he must feel about the loss of his unborn child.

No doubt that she likes this "new" Suraj since he is her new "YES man" in town. She misses that.
That person who never contradicted her, who did whatever she decided even risking their own wedding in order to save the reputation of her spoiled selfish little sister. Yes, I am talking about Vivaan. I don't think she is particularly missing him, just the feeling of having someone by her side to support her and agree with her in each and everyone of her actions.

But the question is: can she accept Suraj for who he really is? With his flows and all? I want her to try to understand him for who he really was and is, not for what she wants him to be! I want her to stop seeing him as one dimensional character. Honestly, right now, she only sees him as a weapon against KN and nothing more. She talks about her dreams, but what about his dreams? She sees him so concern with her future, but she doesn't return the same favor. I want her to show him some sympathy.

Once Suraj almost begged her to see the things from his perspective, to understand the complex relationship he shares with his father, but nothing went through her ears and let alone through her heart.

From my point of view, when it comes to her fight with KN, I find Chakor just as full of hate as KN is. She bares such hate and such ambition to see him destroyed that she sees nothing else beyond these. The only difference is that Chakor wants to use legal methods.

I know it is too early in the show for Chakor to understand Suraj. It will come gradually, I just wanted to pointing out the present situation.

thank you for this post claudia!!
suraj is a very complex man. i have also always liked him from the beginning. in spite of his various acts there was a always a vulnerability about him that attarcted me to him

yess that scene when suraj asked chakor to understand why he hated her and she did not bother to make an attempt to do it was really sad

i dont want suraj to become her yes man claudia . i still want him to retain his induviduality.

for me he will always be a better person in many ways than chakor .

every time she calls him pakhandi it upsets me it only shows she has not understood him

yes if he was a bandhua he would have done much more than her to save his parents.

i hope she understands him for what he is and respects and loves him for it. otherwise i believe he is better off without her

Awesome and a much needed post Claudia! Even on BB Salman said that Chakor is kathor. It's true.
She definitely doesn't understand Suraj.
She doesn't look deeper. Takes things at face value where Suraj is concerned.
I really hope the CV's show this much needed understanding. If Chakor is to fall in love with Suraj, she has to understand him and the fact that he craves love and empathy.

Love this post Claudia!
I'll start by saying that I loved the pre-leap GIF you put in...my mind always goes back to that when I think of Suraj as a child. In the scene before this he was distancing himself away from Ragini when she was making holiday plans with him saying "I don't want to hang out with girls" (much later we hear that as a child he loved spending time in the kitchen with his mom but KNR didn't like it. Here we see he's already trying to mould himself according to what his father wants him to be.) and then we see him putting himself between his baby sister and the equally tiny, fiery village girl.
This scene for me parallels his behaviour with Chakor after Imli and Vivaan got together. He humiliates her, asks for divorce, pushes her away but when she actually needs him, it's a reflex for him to leap off his seat and prevent her from falling off the stage.
Sorry, I got carried away. Pre-leap references do that to me.

I agree about Chakor not seeing him as a person with feelings. We all kept saying that Suraj should be grateful for everything she's done for him and wondering why on earth she was being so nice to him.
Seeing things from his point of view, all she did for him before KNR had returned was to show him sympathy and tell him to stay away from Imli. Not so that he wouldn't be heartbroken but that Imli's picture perfect life wouldn't be ruined. I'm glad he went against her advice and told Imli anyway. Else he would've been doing the spineless thing like Vivaan.
Granted she forgave him for all his sins and what not. But she did it because she is truly a saint. And Suraj isn't moved by saints thinking about the greater good, he's moved by what people do for him. And he reciprocates, giving his all to them in return.
I actually have more to say about this, but this post has already become longer than I intended. I will get back to it if time permits.
Again, a wonderful and much needed post Claudia. I've said this before, no one understands and loves the original Suraj more than you!

It's awesome. I agree with your thoughts for Suraj completely,he really deserves love in his life and only his mother loved him selflessly and remaining just used him
And about sukor relationship it's just beginning ,they are at the intial point of their relationship and they even don't know what to name their relationship and chakor is understanding him slowly, that's why she is with him even though he planned to murder kn and I think it takes time for both of them to understand each other, now they are each other's support and each other's weekness and when they reach to the peak point in their relationship they will live for each other
And she is liking the new Suraj because he changed himself from a ruthless man to an understanding person, the person who stood by her side when the whole world was against her and he is giving his full support to her during when imvaan once decided leave all this mess and live a peaceful life

I think we will only truly know if Chakor understands Suraj is after KN is out of sight...
You know everyone wants Chakor to understand Suraj for whom he is but maybe I have a different opinion abt this...why should she understand Suraj ????
Has Suraj given her a reason till now why she should understand him and his pain or whatever ????
Has he ever understood Chakor ???? Has he ever understood the pain that he and his family have given her ????
In my opinion there isn't any, from Chakors side there is no love involved in whatever she is doing for him, just that she is helping him like she would help any other person...
When he told her why he hated her as a child , becoz his father was too obsessed with her...what was her fault in this that she should have understood him ????

Ofcourse I don't want Suraj to become her yes man either, this guy has always had a mind of his own , his own individuality and he should not loose that , only becoz just maybe he starts feeling something for her...
Suraj should remain his own self...don't want him to become a 2nd Vivaan...

Well now let's see what happens...now she told Suraj to go away, so let's see how the story will unfold now
Maybe there will come a point where both will truly understand what they mean to each other and then slowly the changes might come

Wonderful post,Claudia. It is very unfortunate for Suraj fitting into a reckless family like this! But I think,by 'liking new Suraj',Chakor didn't mean she wants a new 'yes man' or sth,she meant Suraj has become more caring and understanding and most importantly,Humane. She even gave example of his past activity and compared it to his present helpful attitude.Suraj has been the most misfortunate one throughout his life,no second thoughts on that. All your points on Suraj, bang on!But from Chakor's POV,I'd agree to what Esha said. And I don't know how weird I sound, but its Chakor's constant bickering and taunting, that has kept Suraj going on despite all the miseries he's been facing.Chakor didn't show him any sympathy or kindness,in fact she put him on gun-point in front of the villagers, with divorce papers in her hand to knock some senses in her whining husband. She knew what he needed at the moment.

Well, one thing that I hated in both small and adult chakor is-meaninglessly yelling!Yeah, that kinda pisses me off when she she deals with Suraj. But then Suraj is the guy she doesn't even 'like' a bit,let alone love.Though inwardly she does care about him,and I donot think its only because she wants him as an ally against KN,as she keeps repeating to herself.Even if I was confused,my confusion became clear after the jailor Yadav fiasco. But as she tries to show otherwise,I donot wonder why Suraj feels that Chakor still hates him.Having said, all these I'd wanna see that Chakor gives him all the love and care that he rightfully deserves once she actually falls for him. However, its gonna be a tough ride coz forgiving a guy who'd been a monster to you his whole life and falling in love with the same guy are totally two different things.

Claudia - I did not read other's replies...as I wanted to jump in.
You may all be a bit presumptious in assuming Chakor does not realize all this. CVs have given clues...that it may not be so. During the bus ride...she smiles after she finds herself sleeping on his shoulder and especially after today's episode...CVs took my breath away today...she turned the tables on him today as well...even when drunk????...with her knowing smile before she drifted off to sleep.
CVs are smart...after today's dialog's Claudia...we may be right after all - with Surajs prior infatuation with Chakor...he did say Imli was jealous of her...I tell you the CVs have still not closed that off.

I did not like her confessing today that even Suraj was in love with Imli at the same time and that it bothered her...too soon for that I felt. While Suraj may be justified in all he has done...he still has done a lot of stuff to Chakor - that he has not officially apologised for.

Just like Suraj with all his baggage may be justified...poor Chakor with everything that gets doled out to her on her head every 5 mins..needs to be seen in context of what she sees done and happening. She says today - that fighting with Suraj got her attention...that was very vulnerable.
