Dial-ogue!- Article (Aamir Ali)

It may sound incredible, but actor Aamir Ali, who plays the lead in Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki, actually dubbed for a scene over the phone. The actor had gone out of the city on an important errand, when he got a call from the production house asking him to report to the studios for dubbing immediately. The story goes that the production people realised that the actor's dialogues had very low, and poor, sound quality in an important sequence of a particular episode. So, the dialogues had to be done again, and what's more, the episode had to be delivered to the channel that very day.

Recalling his experience, Aamir says, "Isn't it amazing? I have no idea how our technical team managed to do it, but they actually made me dub for a scene over the telephone! When they called me for some extra dubbing and I told them that I was in Ahmedabad and it was impossible for me to reach Mumbai immediately, the production person suggested that I should dub over the telephone. I was skeptical, of course. Who ever has heard of such a thing! But when he insisted, I agreed to give it a try."

After struggling for almost an hour on the phone, the actor finally managed to get all his lines right. "The production guy guided me over the phone. He told me how to modulate my voice while saying the dialogues. And to my surprise, after a couple of trials, my lines were okayed," says Aamir. So, that's a first of sorts — for Aamir and possibly, for the TV industry.
