Asha Bhosle was the sister of playback singer Lata Mangeshkar and belonged to the prominent Mangeshkar family. Renowned for her soprano voice range and often credited for her versatility.

Her work included film music, pop, ghazals, bhajans, traditional Indian classical music, folk songs, qawwalis, and Rabindra Sangeet.

Apart from Hindi, she has sung in over 20 Indian and foreign languages.In 2013, she made her debut as an actress in the film Mai, and received critical acclaim for her performance.

In 2006, she stated that she had recorded over 12,000 songs in her career.

Every time my family gets together, we listen to this song at least once. It has become an inside joke for us. My dad always humorously paraphrases the lyrics, saying "Radha ke sena chale" (Radha's army is going) instead of the original line, "Radha kaise na jale" (How can Radha not be jealous).

Rest in peace, Asha ji.

From now on, this song will be accompanied by a sense of loss.
