Western clothes as per trends or may be of conservative design.

Atleast let Archies release and then criticise it? The teasers are cute..it reminds me of Jo Jeeta wohi sikandar and I love those kind of teen dramas and sweet college romance etc..I mean I don’t honestly get the criticism or flak or whatever without having seen any dialogue promo etc..

Jo jeeta was set in 90's not 60's .

There is nothing wrong in adapting western works for Indian scene but you need skiils to do that. Whoever has written this clearly lacks those skills and the performers don't look very promising. The college part of Karan Johar's KKHH can also be looked upon as an adaptation of Archie comics (Betty, Veronica and archie love triangle) but it was palatable if not great. This looks terrible.

Whoever has rendered the the song Chhuna hai asman has really bad Hindi diction. He is singing Chuna hai Asman and not Chhuna hai aasman. Chhuna hai means I want to touch the sky , Chuna means the chunaa from Paan Tambaku. It is hilarious.

Hence the criticism of dress and looks.

No one says one has to show poverty or same old lanes of UP and Bihar.

Stop assuming critique of look of actors and their dress means black and white thinking and swinging between extreme poles of rich elites and slums.

See how Yash Chopra showed rich, elite in Trishul, Vijay, Kabhi Kabhi - who went to clubs, partied, went for lunches, golf etc but still looked 'Indian' even if they wore western suits. Even K Jo showed more Indian looking rich elites in K3G. Hrithik, SRK, Rani, Bachchan couple and Bebo looked 'Indian' in it, despite being super rich. HR and Bebo looked Indian even in that college song. SOTY actors also looked 'Indian'.

There is a certain paleness and style of dressing which makes them look wannabe firangs and not even as Indian elites.

so being fair is also a problem? This is like some reverse racism going on..look I’m not defending the star kids..god knows I dislike most of them..and what can be done if most of them go and get skin whitening treatments and surgeries ..it’s ridiculous but the Kardashian syndrome is real..😀 but dressing related criticism specifically is silly to me…and I’ll tell you why..Mrinalini Sarabhai..was known to grow up in a very English manner and even wore shortest shorts and played tennis..that goes for most aristocratic families back then..why does Bhartiya version of Archies need to necessarily mean..brown people with sari and Kurta..

imagine if Gayatri Devi was in her teens..she was known to wear pants and smoke cigarettes and enjoy her wine..before she got married..

Anglo-Indians are really that much fair. Even the ones who are not some of them are this much fair. Also not to forget North-east people.

This movie song released in the same year as Archies timeline.

And this a year after Archies timeline.

Fearless Nadia movies ka background aur characters ke dressing dekhkar to yahi log shock me pad jaayenge which were made in 1930s.

PS: Agar Archies ke ladke chhapri printed shirt pehenkar gutka muh me liye UP Bihar accent me baat karte aur ladkiyan salwar-kameez pehne sharma-kar baat karti to sabko relatable lagta right?🌚

More people would get skin lightening these days rather than the 70s

Even Lalita Pawar wore bikini tops in 1930s movies.

Villain gang in 1936 movie. The main heroine of this movie even has a scene doing gym wearing short tight clothes.
