Tamil and Telugu markets are pretty big. They need to be tapped by Bollywood.
South Indian movies have a different model of working at box office. They are heavily skewed towards the opening day. There is hardly any growth on the weekend while families for Bollywood usually come out for the weekend.
Also, if you are talking about just Tamil, then the combined total is 30cr not 40cr. If only one released then even 30cr wasn't possible. We cannot compare combined collections of two Tamil movies with a Bollywood movie.
Not even a single movie in Bollywood (and let's include Bahubali 2 and KGF 2 as well) hasn't been able to cross 35cr on a non holiday let alone a 40cr opening day. Sanju is highest at 34cr.
I believe it's putting a lot of pressure on SRK in the worst phase of his career and Deepika whose last hit was 5 years back, to score record opening day numbers like you are hoping for.
