I just saw the new promo and had to make this post...

Ishwari is telling herself to give her son Sona as a toy...

But for once I am not blaming her. Why? Let me explain.

In my house, we have a rule. There's nothing we buy (we as in my husband and I) that the other doesn't approve because the house belongs to both. So from decors to furniture everything is bought when both of us agree. Hence, if any of us go to store on our own and find something we like either we call the other with the picture or only buy it if it's returnable and we can get our money back.

The reason I shared this little example because Dev and Ishwari also partially follow this rule. Whatever he buys is subject to approval from Ishwari. And Ishwari needs Dev's constant admiration.

Now he picked Sona, a pretty little toy. He first did not get Ishwari's approval because he really really wanted to keep this just like my husband clutches onto his x-box games and doesn't want to take it back even though he hasn't played the previous three games he bought yet because he was busy or I clutch onto another pair of shoes even though it's impractical and probably will be sitting in my closet forever.

But his mother found out and showed Dev who is truly the boss. She did her manipulating and Sona got the axe. Dev did what any person does with a lifeless piece of toy that a family member does not approve, he got rid of it.

After he got rid of the toy, another kid decided he wanted the toy. But how can Dev watch his toy with another kid? So he created enough scenarios to get that toy back from throwing tantrums to screaming to crying until the other kid had to leave the toy behind. The toy liked Dev better anyway.

But because of all the drama, demand for the toy went down and the toy manufacturer faced loss because they lost their reputation in the market.

Here Ishwari realized that the string of her toy, her puppet Dev is coming loose because he is constantly stretching himself trying to reach for the toy. So she told him that he can get his toy back.

So off Dev went with his mother's approval slip to pick up the toy he discarded so carelessly.

But the toy turned out to be human being who refused to go to the same home as the puppet and the puppet master.

The reason I am not blaming Ishwari is because it's not her fault to think of Sona as a toy. Dev made her think that without her nod of approval, he won't ever accept Sona. He said that she wanted to know who Dev loves more, Ishwari or Sona. Now she knows that he loves Ishwari more. I was wondering had Ishwari asked who Dev loves more, his sisters or his mother, could he answer as confidently? Would the choice be as easy to make? Would he ask his sisters, they have no right on their brother because mother comes first?

Can you as a woman answer who do you love most? Your parents or your life partner? Would you discard your life partner for your parents? Why is it so difficult for you to answer when men answer this question so easily?

This is how we raise men and women. We raise women to always find excuses for being the bottom of the priority list of their men and we raise men to always put their women as an afterthought. Because we are woman. So we should understand men. They have so much responsibilities that the poor things are torn apart. After all, doesn't love means understanding?

Well yes. When you love someone, you try to be understanding. But is the man you love is being understanding to you? Is he thinking of you and your feelings as the same priority or concern?

P.S. dumping you at first sign of trouble isn't being understanding. Just thought I'd clear that.

Dev claimed he could not keep his new promises because of his old promises. But we never make any promises to our parents beyond to be a good human being. We don't promise to live our life according to their wish and we don't make promises to love, honour or cherish them and be with them forever because parents never stay in their children's life forever.

But we do make promises to our life partner. We promise to stand by them through thick and thin, through richer and poorer, in sickness and in health until death do us apart. But it seems men's promises in India comes with conditions apply.

After watching the promo i felt disgusted that how is she comparing a girl her son is in love with a toy. I mean she is not only insulting Sona but her own son's love too.

And for Dev before Sona accepts him back, he needs to learn to stand by her. She cannot go back to him just like that. She was right, what is the assurance that he'll not leave her if his mother will do something similar to what she has done in the past.

I seriously wish for Sona to reject Dev and leave the city for a new job. Let Dev wallow in pain. The show can take a leap with Dev finally having understood where he went wrong. Sonakshi should be shown having genuinely moved on in life by then and Dev should have to actually win her back as a man, not as someone's son.
But if the spoilers are to be believed Sonakshi will be unable to conceive. So what will mummy do ask baby to throw away the defective toy and Dev will ultimately show that he has grown up by standing by his wife. Very distasteful and sad method of Devs redemption I must say.

Would prefer Sonakshi not to agree till baby comes out of his diapers and starts walking and standing on his own

Exactly... I was disappointed too. But can we really blame her? Did her son fight for his love? Try to convince his mother that Sona is as important to him as his mother and he can't choose between his left eye and right eye, left arm and right arm? Going on a rant while being drunk and then promptly deleting everything the next morning doesn't count as fighting for his love...

What assurance does Sona has that she can rely on Dev to stand by her as a life partner should? None.

I hope no woman has to feel like a discarded toy ever in their life. Women does not need to be treated like a Goddess or Queen. Treat us as a human being who is your equal. That's more than enough.

That's what I was trying to point out. Sona wanted to marry Dev, the man... Not Ishwari Dixit's son, Dev.

Awesome! this is exactly what i wanted when they started the break up track. I did not want the third angle and in fact, hated it till it got over. I wanted to see a track where Sona leaves the city focusses on her career and in the meanwhile Dev going through the period of remorse and breaking himself of the clutches of his mom.. but alas, it was not to be..

i really hope that Sona does not agree to a reunion so easily..

Interesting post ,

Firstly Dev ending his relationship with Sona was a wrong move but I certainly don't blame him maybe even I would have done the same as Dev facing that type of situation but the fact is he took Sonakshi for granted without a second thought he let her go taking the easy way out .
My mum just few days back had again told me and my two brothers before falling in love with any girl first learn to truly respect her once you can respect her it will be easy to respect her family then fall in love if hurdles comes your way you would be able to withstand it together .

Dev is complex but his mother too had never really thought him strength of relations and that is the reason he can throw Sona out of his and when his mother says bring her back he does so .
He has to learn now and realize a lot
Ishwari thinking of Sona as some toy even me as a guy was totally disgusted with her thought

Great post once again tia..I Am really so glad that dev doesnt remember what he said to ishwari when he was drunk.. If he did, he wiuld have ruined everything bu running to mommy in the morning and falling at her feet and asking for forgiveness.. And ishwari would have tied the blindfold once again and ignore all he said..

Dev should know that he should not ask for forgiveness for wanting something ir loving someone or speaking his mind. For dev i feel he is scared of ishwaris judgement more than loving her as mother

You are absolutely right. I was disgusted to see the promo, felt sick that a woman could reduce the value of another woman to a toy which she thinks she can get for her son.But then her son never made the woman in question seem more than a toy in front of his mother, did he?Dev proved to his mother that he ddin't and never will love anybody more than her.
. But can we ever really compare and answer who we love more or respect more when it comes to the most important relationships in our life? Can we ever say that we love our mother more than our father or vice versa, or we love our siblings more ,or even best friends. Every relationship has a place in our heart, has its own importance,is an inseparable part of our life.

But Dev puts aside one relationship because the other one was not happy about it.. He let his mother question Sonakshi's love, her professionalism, her character and values and stood silent. He never even tried to fight for his love. he made his mother think that she was not important enough to even have a conversation about. Mother doesn't like her, she will have to go.Now she does, she can come back. In future if she again disapproves her, says anything against her, he will again throw her out of his life like a used toy with no value? Saying that men don't understand and its their nature is not the solution. So does that mean that since Dev can't understand emotions of other people well, even in future he will never even try to understand or balance? All the adjustments must be done by Sonakshi? Why should sonakshi marry a man who will never stand by her side, will wait for his mother;s permission?

So as much as Ishwari is a character who has done many wrongs. Dev has been the one encouraging her by not speaking up.Ishwari needs to change but so does Dev.

UPDATE: Found this beautifully written letter addressed to Sonakshi in another post .Do give it a read if you can.
