The passing of Asha Bhosle at the age of 92 on April 12 has led to widespread grief across the country, with members of the film fraternity, political leaders and music lovers expressing their condolences. The veteran singer, who had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital, died following health complications, marking the end of a long and influential career.
Among those who reacted were actors Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, both of whom shared messages remembering the singer’s contribution to Indian music. Aamir wrote, “Ashaji's sudden demise is a shock to all of us and a loss which cannot be conveyed in words. She was the last of the great four. Ashaji passing away marks the end of an era. She will always live with us through her songs. Her voice will always ring in our hearts. My heartfelt condolences to her family. Love and respect always.”
Shah Rukh Khan also shared a personal note along with a picture, stating, “It's truly sad to learn about Asha Tai's passing. her voice has been one of the pillars of Indian cinema and will continue to resonate world over for centuries to come. A talent that will outlive many, she always showered me with blessings and love and i will miss her. Rest in Peace Asha Tai. love you.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences, noting the singer’s lasting contribution to Indian culture and music. Akshay Kumar wrote, “No words can convey the loss I feel at Asha Bhosle ji’s demise. Unki surily awaaz hamesha hamesha ke liye amar rahegi. Om Shanti.” Actor Hema Malini also reflected on her association with the singer, writing, “Asha Tai no more! I just can’t believe how some one so full of life, she who lent so much vivacity and character to her songs has left us grieving. It is especially hard for me as I have an emotional connect with Asha ji.”
Alia Bhatt also shared a brief note, posting a picture and writing, “A voice that lives forever ?? Asha ji ??”. Her message added to the growing list of tributes across platforms, reflecting how widely Asha Bhosle’s work resonated across generations.

Her son Anand Bhosle confirmed that a public homage will be held at her residence in Lower Parel, followed by last rites at Shivaji Park at 4 pm.
