'Dearest paid PR..': Hansika Motwani’s estranged SIL reacts to viral claims of Rs 2 crore defamation case

Television actor Muskaan Nancy James has responded to reports claiming that her former sister in law Hansika Motwani filed a defamation suit of Rs 2 crore against her. Addressing the speculation, Muskaan denied receiving any legal notice and questioned the basis of such claims.

Taking to Instagram Stories on April 11, Muskaan posted a message that appeared to take a dig at the circulating reports. She wrote, “Dearest paid PR team, a little verification before posting (and quietly deleting) would really help. Also... notice gaya hai kya? I understand, Mumbai traffic.. And who exactly is this 'secret informer'? kahan hai?? Traffic mein atak thoda sa facts bhi check kar lijiye... it helps. Anyway, loads of love.” Her response suggested that no official communication had reached her so far.

The development comes months after Muskaan had filed an FIR against her husband Prashant Motwani, along with Hansika and their mother Mona Motwani. The complaint was registered at Amboli Police Station on December 18, 2024, under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including allegations of domestic violence, verbal abuse and intimidation.

Recent reports had stated that Hansika approached a Mumbai court seeking damages of Rs 2 crore, accusing Muskaan of making defamatory statements. According to a report by NDTV, Hansika also alleged that Muskaan’s claims were linked to an attempt to avoid repayment of an alleged loan of Rs 27 lakh, which was reportedly taken during her marriage to Prashant and remains unpaid.

Hansika, as per the same report, maintained that she had limited involvement in her brother’s marriage and was not residing with the couple. She reportedly stated that the relationship between Prashant and Muskaan had deteriorated over time and that she was not directly aware of their disputes. The suit also described Muskaan as a “small time television actor” and questioned her financial conduct.

In her earlier FIR, Muskaan had alleged that she suffered from Bell’s Palsy due to ongoing domestic issues, describing it as a condition causing temporary facial muscle weakness.

The matter remains under legal consideration, with both sides presenting differing versions of events.
