India is famous for two products which India has patented long before the Indian Patent Act came into being. The products are --Widow who is referred to as Gangaswarup and the Barren woman referred to as Banj. Who has knighted them and given them these Khitabs ---? I don't know. Another thing I would like to mention is calling a widow a "rand" . And to think a prostitute is also called a "rand". What kind of Equation is this? In a country where since time immemorial the concept of Shakti has been Deitified and we see her being represented across the country as Durga , Amba Ma to name a few of the many faces of the All Powerful Shakti Ma, It is a shame to see that we are still a slave to this type of thinking. Today we are in the 21st century and the clarion call of the day is development and progress and the culture of today's youth is for transparency. Till we don't debar the above Khitabs and Equation irrevocably and literally banish all such beliefs from the collective psyche of the Indian polity I doubt if we will be able to achieve the much desired progress we are clamouring for.
