@Wiwy, you can chill and have a coffee with ASR for now, but you know i used to intern for starbucks (their sister branch in PA) in college, i can take ASR on a date there...and that plant was pretty close to the Harley Davidson plant where i can later take Barun on a date as that is his fav make of bike...😊

"i know... file saath la raha hoon, dammit," clenched teeth, irritated gray look, eyes cold with a glint of fire, the man is in a foul mood. which of course is always pleasing. he's going alone. not really, just that his companion is lying unconscious in the boot. right next to the pakora. went to nainital in a bus on a school excursion at 13, for only rs. 70. never thought some day i would return to this trip, quite this way.

love what you did to this edit, perfectly caught the vibe of that scene

where does a journey begin? where does it end? did this one start with a man in a bad mood rushing into a car and turning on the ignition? or did it actually take off with a girl on a scooter, a boy in a helicopter, each seeking a destination, one fine day in lucknow? the city of bhoolbhulaiya, of getting lost to find your way.

or perhaps it began in another plane, beyond even the writer's imagination, far far away, where truth meets truth and knows love to be its only destination.

khushi didn't find what she went seeking that day, asr almost made it, then things went awry. yet both had found their destination, only they had no idea of it. with a trip and fall, and a snap of pearl string, started another journey that would go via surprising routes, dangerous detours, ups, downs, ins and outs, avoid potholes and head on collisions somehow to bring us here.

forty four odd minutes on the road, intercut with the plot and sub plots moving smartly along. shyam and babuji taking crucial steps toward hospital, payal and akash being aided by la's cluelessness and naniji's not easy to please nature, then there's buaji's delusion so necessary for everything. lovely little touches, babuji gives payal his phone, so when he needs it, it's not there. right through, everyone keeps asking where's khushi. la is the first to find out. clever.
nainital is but a minor trip missed by her alas, she will also be the first to know whom asr wants with him on the journey of life. she'd planned much for the other one, but like an intelligent driver, she will figure out when the road is no longer hers and look for another route.

a strain of ajeeb stalked the episode. yes, i thought, life is indeed an ajeeb, strange, journey and if any of the writers was thinking this while devising an episode so focused on taking us forward toward the next destination of story, i'd be delighted.

khushi believes that devi maiya takes you by the hand and leads you down your life path. yet, i can't quite see dm coming up with that jhatka plan to make some "love" time for la and asr. make pakoda, take out petrol from tank, en route to an urgent meeting trip up the man, grab him in a snuggle by nowhere and chomp pakora... would do wonders for the relationship of the girl she's employed to help. khushi was acting with free will. dm just spiked it all so that it was she who was left in the middle of nowhere with the man diverted permanently, not quite snuggling (that's for later), but ploughing through pakodas relentlessly.

really, the dabba never left her hand. the eating never stopped. only once, when she leapt out to push the car, did the white dabba get a respite from her firm grip.

she loves jalebi, he loves pakoda. both so deep fried, juicy, crunchy without, flowy within, just that one is sweet and one savoury. like some people we know. pakoda with its chilli hot anger, jalebi with its swirls of sanaka. but looks like the lover of jalebi is equally sold on pakora. i mean, should you regain consciousness and find yourself trapped in the boot of a moving car would you scream and shout on one hand yet keeping munching through loads of pakora? of course, no stopping your constant chatter either, "
laad gov ki gaadi bilkul unhi ki tarah hai... jab dekho paa paa, har waqt horn bajate rahta hai," laad gov's car is exactly like the man, making noise all the time, the horn is forever on.

no wonder the man was completely thrown when he opened the boot. firstly, she is there, secondly... have a pakora?

"what the..." was there an eff... there?

she looks startled then. "aa... aap na zyada what the what the mat kijiye... hum aap ko batate hain ki kya hua..." she still doesn't know la isn't there. was she all set to offer la the crunchy tempters the moment she came out of the trunk? strange.

so what are you doing here? c'mon asr stop glaring, she just wanted to leave some goodies for you and la in the trunk.

so you went and sat in the trunk? i am guffawing at asr's dead panning here. - me too it was way too perfect and so in character the way he just interrupted and said it!

no it was the dupatta. but of course, now there possibly is a mingling of your desires, khushi, and dm's little plan, a weapon of both... the dupatta.

"toh aap akele jaa rahen hain?" so you're going by yourself? she's realised la is not around.

"aisa lag toh nahin raha hai." doesn't look like that. droll.

"dekhiye aap iss tarah se humse baat mat kijiye." see don't talk to me like that. a sexy contrast between salt and sweet, worldly and cutesie.

"hum taxi leke chale jaayenge," i'll take  avcab and go.

"haann, sab taxi wale toh tumhara intezaar kar rahe hain na," yes of course, all the cabbies are waiting just for you.

man is supremely irritated. he is running late. work matters to this guy. it si what gives him his strength, tethers him to this life, gives energy, drive, a reason  for passion.

"koi taxi kyun nahin aa rahi, " why isn'ta  taxi coming... she's so very 18 years old, angry yet a dependence on him in her grouchy tone.

what, a strike? how will she go home.

"gadi me baitho," sit in the car. why is it always so intimate this asking her to get into his car?

"kya... aap hume chorenge?" what, you're going to take me?

"aur nahin to kya, beech sadak tumhe chhorke..." what else, will i leave you midway and...

in an instant the whole complexion of the moment transforms. memories and the memories crowd in... that night he had left her in the middle of nowhere and driven away...

journeys... what crazy turns they take.

"jaldi gaadi mein baitho, mere paas time nahin hai," quickly sit in the car, i don't have time. he takes the moment back again and brings us here on the road to nainital.

sorry i made a mistake, she says. check next time to see with whom what mistake you make, replies he

"itna dekh sakte toh humse galat kyun hoti..." if i could see so much, why would i make mistakes... the road lies before us all, yet how much of it can we really see. sometimes what feels like an unnecessary detour or even loss of way may be really the path we were supposed to take.

he looks at her, a strange feeling in his eyes. all these unexpected answers.

he will not get lost, he yells, hurry up.

she will not make a mistake so she  marches obedienty to the boot while he strides to the passenger door to open it for her. hand reaches up for pin, and the left right jhatka ditty on tip of tongue no doubt. he  is flabbergasted beyond belief. what the really. his eyes say, you're really ajeeb as she comes to the door held open.

a dark brooding asr looks ahead and drives, avoiding any contact with the pestilence on the passenger seat. she munches pakoda. even offers him one. a glare does the trick. in a perfectly enacted and edited shot he tells "lalit" he'll be late, a problem's come up. problem is upset halfway through munch.

and so continues the drive to where who knows. along the way, the petrol will get over, but naturally. asr will wonder how that could be. khushi will cringe remembering how. khushi will assure asr that she is woman enough to push a car.

"hum bhi dhakka denge," i will push the car also. and she gets that look from him again.

"tum." you. a slightest movement of head, a darkening look in eyes, a little turn in her direction, a quiet downward slanted, ending on fullstop, question mark, and exclamation mark all together... tum. and why do i feel a funny indulgent air in him. of course anger and disbelief, and dismissive a note.

he will look drop dead gorgeous and push the car anyway. of course, because she was so concentrating on not moving the steering wheel instead getting him to push more to the left, more to the right, etc., she will not notice how ahem dhakdhak the man looked straining to move a whole huge car.

when asr is tired and sweaty, and the petrol pump is nowhere in sight (maybe dm moved it a bit away from its original location), khushi's sassiness will earn her a harrumph asr and the right to push the car. she will do so, with aplomb. the more you stay in the same place, the longer the distance you cover. if i'm to critically appreciate the look on asr's face as he stands watching her "push" the car, i'd say she'd done a huge bit of travel straight into the centre of the dimaag man's dil.

unbelievable, his stance said. it was its way of saying "adorable," maybe?

ah well, moving on. there will be a tyre puncture (seriously, dm is leaving nothing to chances, taking over now on, asr thought he was writing his own destiny, up to a point he was, this nainital trip was his plan after all, but having seen the opportunity, fate/dm/life call it what you will had stepped in deftly for some navigation control).

no amount of pakora bribe will get them a lift in either direction, delhi or nainital.

somewhere along the way, aman would be introduced. hello, aman, bhelcomes bhelcomes. and in the comedic turn of this loony day, we'll laugh about whom asr called idiot, fool, and other such endearing things. then la would call, serving the biggest purpose of all. she will demand to speak to khushi and khushi wouldn't know how to hook on a blue tooth. so of course a beautiful brown hand will tuck back a strand of hair and put this little remote device on her ear. never before has the remote brought anyone so near.

dhakdghakdhakdhak. rabba vey tenderly traipsing in, in no hurry to get anywhere, almost telling the two to relax, sit back, enjoy the ride. sometimes the ride is the destination, indeed. khushi's eyes would reflect her sudden disquiet. but asr's will rest on her face just for a moment. still, just looking, inscrutable.

LOVE this edit!!!

finally, fed up with everything, asr will decide to walk through the woods and khushi will be brave and refuse. then canny and give in. up will come the most incredible stalking of the man. sweet and hot lost in a forest with woody trees, bare brown earth and quietly descending mist, the very thought feels erotic. is that why khushi talks even more than usual, and asr is practically running? have to give super applause to the dialogue writers of khushi today. what might have become too obvious or irritating, became charming prattle, at times loaded with exciting nuance. she is talking loud and without pause it seems to fool the animals, but hey, look, a mangoi trre, wonder if there are any mangoes? a luscious fruit and love of it in the midst of nowhere, a sensual note floats up and plays with the swirls mist.

he's had it. you must stop talking or your salary shall be cut by half. can you do fiive minutes of keeping quiet? just five.

thank g she's shut up, looks like the threat of pay cut worked.

but... where are you khsuhi... khushi?

"i don't believe this. mujhe pata hai tum mere peechhe hi ho, khushi kumari gupta"... i know you're right behind me, kkg.

"jaldi saamne aao." come in front quickly. his voice is rough, tired, on edge.

"this is not funny." and in a trice, i'm on a cliff top months down the line. his voice wobbly, desperate, pleading as she lies lifeless in his arms. that journey too began here. his voice not yet that shaken, but signs of it there already.

khushi, last chance, if this is some rotten joke of yours, shall take your whole salary.

silence. quiet, endless woods, "the woods are lovely dark and deep," but where is she? she who is afraid of the dark, of speeding cars, who sits in the boot and chews pakora, who pushes the car with all her might and doesn't budge it a millimetre, yet who seems to move everything within him without even touching him with a finger? where...those wild animals she was talking about...

khushi?

khushi?

khushi?

khushi...

playing in my head as he searched in the swirling mist, the thickening fog, a song from the movie, "dhundh," and the thought... where does  a journey begin, where does it end? does it ever end? when we lose our way, is it really losing or a way to find our true destination? where were they headed that day in lucknow? to sheeshmahal, to nainital, to each other? will the fog ever clear?

a few stray diversions that caught my eye

~ akash khushi aloo talks. another kind of love journey, i suppose. not all of them need people to shout ENOUGH and crash you into their ...

~ mamiji, "arre hum kya dephective hai ki hamka pata hui ki oo kahan hai?" am i defective thet is hould know. nice hintwa. even better, la's little general knowledge service, "mamiji, it's detective." but manorama wins the day with, "bhatebher"

~ "isska matlab mausa ji humari soch se kai zyada tez nikle," says shyam, thia means mausaji's thinking is sharper than mine. unfortunately, this will spell doom for shashiji, for shyam's worst side is stirred when he thinks he can't get the better of you.

Indi, i must thank you for taking us on this journey through you eyes,  the depth is amazing! love your talk of the "Bigger" journey at play here πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘  you know Lucknow was the start of their journey together and regardless of all the "cupids" DM used along the way, that meeting that moment she feel into his arms was pure fate, no interference onlye the meant to be.

mmmuwwaaas for you Jilebi/ Pakoda metaphore...b/c the aaloo pakoda scene during kadva chaut epi and now you comparing Pakodas to ASR himself, i now declare Pakodas as the sexiest food ever!...even more than mangoes.

Love all the purple you see how much. a great quote as always and that song from Dhund, just lovely, never seen it, or heard it but love the lyrics.

a quick pondering moment on La
 she will figure out when the road is no longer hers and look for another route.

I feel like she already has figured out that he has a huge attraction towards Khushi, maybe she doesn't know to what extent yet and that's why she looks the other way, hoping it goes away, BUT even that day when he accidentally talks to la thinking he's Khushi, he realises "what am i doing" and goes to talk to her, but she pretends all is normal, willing to forget yest another  blow. When the first words come out of ASR, "we need to talk"...she knows what's coming and her immediate reaction is "No"... I feel she would've stayed with him if he didn't break up with her..or am i miss a pies of the puzzle, been a while since i saw that track.

sohara,

thanks so much. i would love to read that ops by juhi. glad to hear i wasn't the only one perturbed by the bare all angle of the mehendi days. crucial episodes and khushi wears nothing on her entire mid riff, how unkhushi is that. character... once you decide to lose it, everything goes. i had the same concern about asr being shown in an embroidered white kurta. asr? never. it would have to be plain white, with guru collar, khadi, perhaps cut by a designer or straight from the gram udyog bhavan. the coolest people in delhi wear that just as the most basic ones. i can see the crisp, slight translucence against his skin, i can see it flowing elegantly as he walks, sparkling sexy white. πŸ˜† am i paagal?

thanks for liking my got lassi boy.

btw i am reading all your devious plans to grab the fellow for wiwy's son's movie. 🀣. i am working on things to foil all your plans.

hi ami,

i am honoured. pakoda beats mango. but can it beat apple? πŸ˜† what are we to do with the sexiness of this man. specially combined with that khadoosness of asr and his grazing gritty granular contradictoriness, it is supremely insane making and unforgettable. i so need this asr man back on some bad road with his good woman. how long must we be denied. πŸ˜†.

thanks for liking. there is that pakoda thing in him, the crunch, the salt, the hot, the super satisfaction, the fragrance that messes with resolve, imagine aloo being coated with smooth besan batter and set into hot oil slowly, a sizzle, and a rise to crunch. i am dead.

about la, super interesting thought. yes, that "no" when he wants to talk. that sense of inevitability she is fighting. of course, she has guessed by now, but she doesn't have a right royal fight with him, not like when she leaves home over the marriage issue. this time she knows he actually loves another. something she never thought he would do, not completely... love. i agree with you, she would be willing to live with that too... her need for him was always great. she could eat eggs for him, she would hang with him knowing he had a thing for someone else. well, at that moment, that's what she likely thought. i am glad though, that is not what she chose finally., she allowed her sense to come and show her the right way, for everyone.

^^Indi,  first of all me and my typos, so sorry!

, imagine aloo being coated with smooth besan batter and set into hot oil slowly, a sizzle, and a rise to crunch. i am dead.

ok you are as bad as Sobti and his husky sexy voice giving Khushi the pakoda recipe, do you have any idea what that does to me? you're dead and you took me with you.
yes that pakoda thing in him, the mirchi, the spice, the crunch,  yummy yummmy yummy!  don't forget what you said before, deep fried things are good for usπŸ˜†

so thanks for your view on La, you're right abs there was a sense of her holding on to the inevitable but she does later accept it with grace as painful as it was for her. that was the bridge i was looking for b/w his breaking up and her giving him wise words about Love. Thank you!

not if i ran.
~~~ a. a. milne, wind on the hill ~~~
the wind rose, lifting the light shimmering dupatta with it, and the borrowed covering fell; leaving her quite bare, her upper body suddenly only in a small blouse and nothing else. she was mortified, he  awkward, shocked, by now he knew how she felt about such a thing.
the most riveting moments for me in this episode were these first ones. the immense beauty and significance of just one interlude... i have watched this scene repeatedly to find all that i couldn't clearly read yet felt was there. every time it has glimmered with its loveliness.
i didn't count the seconds or minutes, but i felt something timeless here, as i had in that one long look in the guest house on the night of the storm. after he plucked her out of the dangerous corner and headed out, for a second they were separated, he turned and looked straight into her eyes, the wind was there too, gushing wildly, lifting her hair, scattering feelings and sensations. there was a moment then as they just stood staring at each other when i felt something elemental, eternal.
similarly, here.
her life in that instance, her sense of self respect, here. her abroo (is that what i am looking for?), the respect and honour of her body as important as that of her soul, her spirit. he will be there taking it on as his responsibility. as long as he is there, no one can mess with her life or her respect seems to be in these moments somehow. and so very poignant his own handling of himself at this strange juncture.
a hellish day it's been, the road to nainital filled with surprises he could do without, they are just out of a jungle, on a highway, no idea where to head next, she goes into the washroom, and her clothes are swiped by a girl eloping, of all the... she emerges in beautiful bridal gear from a dilapdated public toilet, just as they are trying to make sense of the whole thing... this.
which man in this situation would be as delicately sensitive as the khadoos rude nasty laad governor asr was.
yes, he will misunderstand. yes, he will be brutal. to her, to himself. yet, somewhere always, arnav singh raizada will hold himself to be the one to protect her honour, her life. contradictory his dragging of her to the temple one day might seem, his harsh words, his throwing her out of the room, all of it, but because of this that we have seen, we'll know how much it agonises him, we may even understand why he did what he did. i at least, did.
her hand went up instinctively and touched the side of a her neck, a classic gesture, a girl embarrassed, feeling naked.she stepped back, turned away as he stood still, the wind rising the only sound...
he looked at her back and she seemed to feel his gaze, as rabba vey entered the sound scape, an awkward, half turn.
he felt her tense embarrassment. khushi doesn't like to expose her body, her beauty, she contains her desirable physical side in, she doesn't believe it is for all eyes to devour. she's not demure or coy, this is her choice. and that dupatta on the floor she can't pick up because she just doesn't want anyone to see her without her covering. certainly not a man, not asr.
the minute the dupatta deserted her, he saw her startled, troubled look, and figured exactly what to read in it. his gaze moved away from her entirely. the seconds ticked and the murmuring of extreme awkwardness and embarrassment grew. then, seeing that she wasn't doing a thing, he picked up the dupatta finally, and with absolute respect, averting his eyes, held it out to her, as he had in that hot and bothered store room one sunday.
.
the sexiest innate decency in one; and the most endearing sense of ones own self in the other.
she took the dupatta after ascertaining he wasn't looking at her. or maybe she was touched by this simple act of consideration, of his knowing her.
at a time when it is considered almost necessary to flaunt your body as a  mark of independence, here's a truly independent minded girl who knows what she wants to do with her body. (perhaos that's why, i was a bit rattled to see creatives opt for a bare all look for mehendi, if trp was driving such a choice, shame on them. khushi doesn't need to show naval to be adorable or sexy. she is sexy sometimes precisely because she doesn't. instead she wears crazy pom poms and drives a fashion man nuts.)
after handing her the dupatta, he does the most unexpected and sweet thing. he goes a step further from her then and turns completely away from her, creating the privacy for her to wear her veil. even she can't quite believe how considereate he is being. not a word, just doing what he believes he needs to do... for her. a trait of the man perhaps, a remarkable one.
months later in a darkened hut, as his desire inflamed for her and he wanted to watch her change, he'd again turn down a lamp, save her, protect her, not let anything taint her respect, not even his own gaze. it was always up to her, even after they both knew how much they loved each other.
goons arrive.
the gentlest, "chale?" he seems to sense her unsettled state of mind, her clothes have disappeared, now this extremely difficult  intimacy that is swirling in like the mist, yet neither knows its name, just a girl and a boy and a road to some unknown place.
couple of things from the dhaba.
a thin girl's lunch order:
uuuh kadai paneer, tadke wali daal,
sarson ka saag,
uuh
laisoon aur dhaniye ki chatni,
mmm haanh jeere wali chawal,
naan, aur haanh makhan wala naan...
she would have ordered more perhaps.
a macho man's lunch:
ek mineral water.
she is climbing higher and higher on table, stool, whatever to catch the signal or so creatives have written, to create a situation where she can fall into his arms. she does too. but the cutest thing here was the irritation/ugh/confusion/tenderness combine that barun sobti's asr expressed. along with a smile bringing, "pata nahin main iss ladki ke saath yahan kar kya raha hoon...khushi neeche utro." don't know what i'm doing here with this girl... get down, khushi!!
really arnavji, won't you ever call the girl you've eloped with khushiji? and if the large mrs suri in garish red with gota edging and ingratiating questions is giving you nightmares, my sympathies with you, i am finding her and her noisy garrulous dhaba a bit of a nahiiin too. i wouldn't ever want to meet her if i were trying to elope quietly. but then you're not trying to do that anyway, right? but then, arnavji, how come the girl is in bridal... ok ok sorry, no no, i get your point, you must fly into a rage soon and i must get all face palmy.
but before that, a cute lassi mustache (what's it with ipk and its mustache fixation), you did look rather cute, so i had to make an ad reminiscent of the most famous mucchhad campaign ever. seen the milk mustache ads? been around since 1993.
here are some super heroes with their milk mush.
here's your very own ad, our dear super hero you and your hatke lassi mustache.
ASRwala was the best and I loved the slogan.
all sorts of things are happening, there's dhol and bhangra on the way, khushi has been tookhushi and just announced she let the petrol out... just the way happyji taught her. whaaat? impossible girl, too much "chhoot" has been given to her you say. "chhoot"? she is not a child or animal being trained that such a word should apply, but never mind. she understands, you are hungry, you fainted just this morning, you're tired, you must eat. she is really feeling worried for you, you know. but you're going to storm out of the place, you are gussa again, and we know what gussa does to you. she tries to push you into changing your mind. whaaat?
"main ja raha hoon, yeh jagah tumhare liye bilkul perfect hai, yahan ke log tumhari tarah bilkul paagal hain, khushi kumaroi gupta." i am going, this place is perfect for you. the people here are as mad as you, kkg.
"rukiye, par aap jaynge kaise, aapki gadi toh band padi hai," stop, how will you go, your car isn't working.
"meri fikar karna band karo," stop worrying about me... "tumhe usse kya," what difference does it make to you. clenched teeth, i am having breathing trouble.
"hume toh sochna hi padega kyunki gusse mein aap dimaag lagana band kar dete hain," i have to think, because when you're angry you stop using your brain. the girl understands him perfectly. as he her. yet that misunderstanding... what a tale.
your phone isn't working, nor car, strike on, you haven't eaten anything since the morning, where will you go?  nahin, i won't let you go.
"tum rokogi mujhe?" you'll stop me? er can you not look quite so you know...
"haan... warna hum..." yes, otherwise i'll... khushi is all determination and battily cute, some combination that.
"warna?" incredible eyebrow lift, just a litttle bit.
he stalks off and she steals my line... "nahiiin." nooo.
but honestly, all that registered with me this episode: opening scene...
and two words from mills and boon, never thought i'd see them, maybe i got the meaning wrong, but that's what they seemed to be...
tawny eyes.
Lovely Indi as usuallyβοΈπŸ‘πŸ‘In Blue.Undoubtedly lavishing scene  as the sound of the wind was adding too much romance itself in this scene .She took his breath away and I loved how his mouth was open while looking at her.It was impossible for him to be angry with her.Her awkward behavior covering her up and his gazes were throwing too many  romantic notes in the air with that gusty wind.She was covering herself like a newly bride as I look at it as this angle and yes this is her choice but this also contradicts later her revealing skin in her own Mehndi for so many epis which irritated me a lot ,That was not Khushi what we are seeing here.At the same time he covered her back with her own hair from NK and there he was ok too. Any way those a loopsy lops of our IPK.
In Purple:I so adored him there as he shows immense respect for her an closing the loop from Sheesh mahal.Yes in Brown he will again disrespect her during forced marriage but also protect her too.
In red yes he did not even allow his gazes to disrespect her.He even asked her permission during bachelor's night.In pink it was funny and cute too the way she takes out mirchi from his plate.
Loved your sarcasm in light green and yes she was a bit too much but he showed way too much concerns and patience over here.
In orange love the lassi and connections to super heroes.Like the lAssi add and edit
In black bold.She is way sensible beyond his imagination and I felt he liked it that she cares for him .MY POV
Tawny eyes yes but a lot of smile he hided that time behind those .
