Item Number make a Movie Hit?? Or it's Script?

Today while watching Dirty Picture movie on t.v., this came to my mind.

Does a single item song in a movie make the said movie hit? Or the story of the movie matters to make it a hit?

item song helps to get attention for the movie, but it alone cannot make a movie hit

the story, star cast, and all that screenplay, cinematography etc makes it a hit.

If item numbers guarantees a hit movie , then tees maar Khan would had bee the biggest hit of the year. Script is king!!

I watched Dirty Picture too and I'm in love with Emran Hashmir...

Coming back to your topic, I don't think an item number makes a movie hit cuz if that's the case Tees Maar Khan could be the blockbuster of the century

According to the current state of Bollywood, in order to make a hit movie you need the following ingredients; action, comedy, average script or borrow a Tamil/Telugu one and last but not least superstars who have BO power. Nobody really cares who directs it or produces it. Plus if you can cast Salman Khan, you're a winner even before the release of the movie

Item numbers guarantees a movie big opening if the item number creates buzz there are two such examples:

Tees Maar Khan: The only thing people knew about TMK was Sheila Ki Jawani that movie got a big opening because of SKJ but after the opening it didn't do well because the story/word of mouth wasn't good. But still because of SKJ the movie still managed to become a semi hit even though the script was so bad 😆

Agneepath: Chikni Chameli was the biggest reason for why Agnepath got big opening. After the opening the movie did keep doing well and the reason behind that was the word of mouth which was good because people loved the story, acting of hrithik etc. and therefore the movie became a blockbuster.

So if an Item Number is fantastic then it guarantees good opening but it doesn't guarantee a blockbuster unless the story is also very good then it can become a blockbuster which was the case for agnepath.
