Is Geet (the show) becoming too westernized?

Hey Guys,

Is it just me, or is Geet Hui Sabse Parayi becoming too westernized?😕 Dunno, but in the beginning of the show, it seemed very cultured, sweet, and innocent, and Maan/Geet interaction seemed more pure too, but now...with all the club dancing, westernized clothing on other characters, too intimate scenes between Maan and Geet, it seems to me that Geet is losing its Indian-ness. And many of the romance scenes seem very similar to the ones from DMG and even MJHT. Personally, Geet has lost its originality for me....I do not want it to lose its Indian culture too.
It seems to me that many people in the forum prefer it to go in the western direction, but is there anyone who agrees with me that they prefer the old Geet?😳 Even the characters changed, and personally (just my opinion), I do not like the change. I like the sweet naive innocent Geet of the village days, and the more noble charming Maan than the one now.
I do not watch Geet anymore because the storyline does not beckon to me as it did. The characters used to be original, more cultured....now they seem too westernized for my liking.👎🏼 Sorry, this is just my opinion and I don't expect anyone to agree with me, but would be interested in reading your opinions.
Thanks,
Janaki

I do understand and respect your point of view on how Geet has gone through a major transition during the past few months.
The transition between Geet's life as a small town girl in Hoshiarpur, to a strong city girl living in Delhi was a very crucial turning point of the show. So in order to show the city life, they have to modernize the lifestyle and also the characters to some extent.
I wouldn't say Geet has been westernized...it just has been modernized according to the setting. Plus, the fan following of this show started increasing day by day as Geet shifted to Delhi and Maaneet's love story officially started. So that is why the CVs are trying to show what majority of fans want to see.
I personally have followed Geet since day one. I prefer the present track, but I liked the show even when Geet and Maan were both in Hoshiarpur =) I've always been an ardent fan of this show whether it was in Hoshiarpur or now in Delhi.

i never looked at it as "too westernized" 😳
i did like the whole cultured eps at the beginning.. but it had to move on to the next level, as Geet was shown as the weak girl in that small town.. coming to Delhi which also means, coming to modern life, is just a way to show how Geet is changing into a strong woman, who doesnt bow her head in front of a man that would only use her..

Geet doesnt even wear anything else but that kamez salwar [hope thats how its called 😳] thats part of who she is and how was brought up..

i respect your opinion totally, but you are missing a lot of good moments of the show, if not Maaneet then Geet herself.. 😊

I totally agree with Dangelz...the story has to move on & so the characters have to changed...Geet still has that innocence & as for the romance of Maneet I love the way it isi going...would not want to change it...My preference..no offense to any one...

There is one fact that we are all conveniently overlooking and that is India itself has changed, and it is high time that TV serials came out of the dark ages (read Kekta mayee's zardosi sarees and heavy jewelery 🤢 nonsense.......come on who wears those things on a daily basis now-a days 🤣) and moved into the jet age. 😉

Geet is groundbreaking in several respects and we should stand by the series 👍🏼

---- The subject itself is thought provoking - a young pregnant girl, cheated and abandoned by a man who was only interested in her money ............whose family instead of standing by her tries to kill her 😡

---- This girl moves to the city to make a life for herself and her baby, but fate has other plans for her and she ends up falling in love with her boss ......... this breaks new ground because I do not think they have ever seen a pregnant girl fall in love with a man who is not her baby's father 👏👏 👏

---- She is only 18 and she is conflicted whether to listen to her heart or to stay her course and provide for her baby. This is what makes the show interesting.

---- All the characters are well etched be it Geet, Maan, or even NT.

I agree that the treatment of the show maybe a little bold for people not used to watching english serials 😉 ......but I think they have enough substance to keep the audience hooked.

I think what would make the show even more groundbreaking and interesting IMHO is the following

---- Geet telling Maan that she is pregnant ......just the basic outline will suffice 😛.......that way CVs can keep the fill in the blanks game for later 😉. 😆 😆 😆

----- Maan reaction is key .....he can sulk and rail against her as to why she did not tell him earlier BUT THEN HE MUST COME TO HIS SENSES AND TELL HER HE LOVES HER AND BY EXTENSION THE BABY TOO

---- Daadima must accept Geet as she is baby and all. 😳

---- He must accept the baby as his own (not knowing that it is actually his devil brother's 🤢)

---- When all hell breaks loose, he must stand by Geet and so must daadima.

This will make it truly groundbreaking.

Sorry if this offended anyone.

i respect ur views bt i dont feel d same.....they had to show d transition coz u cant have evrythng same in hoshiyarpur and delhi...delhi is a metro city so modernization was inevitable.......geet cant b shown as naive as she was earlier....she has struggled and face alot in such a short span....she has matured.....

she is innocent and good at heart and dat thng has nt changed bt she is a strong gal now.......maan and geet scenes are nt westernized.......they are just showing how passionately they love each other........they are just showing us passion and obsession.........nothng worng in it.....i love geet.......i feel u r missing a good show and talent of gr8 actors.........

just my POV...........

..yeah this is ur opinion..nd m sure everyone here respects it very much..=D
but acc to me geet nd the characters have changed but the show has to show sum reality..nd the truth iswat geet is showing is just a lil part of how westernized cities in india have become...nd the show has to seem real..they cant show in a city like Delhi..the atmosphere is still like hoshiarpur..lol...that would seem fake head to toe
