intresting post...its ur view...
i wonder wat is ur understanding & beliefs are ..when u say westernized...????
this is my view...I really love the characterisation of GEET...
I love th way she is innocently trying to lead her life in her terms...the thought of giving birth to the child is so noble...so selfless....it really does'nt take much more any girl to get an abortion done...😭
trusth me..in india..during festive seasons..girls & guys get over board & easly get pregnant..
the girl most of the time don't even tell any one & get an abortion done...this is not my view..this is reality..check the net u will get figures on wat I just said...
now with all this happening...in India my country...so wat is westernized for me😲
ok westernised is
- being mean
-selfcentered
-less family value
-not taking enough care of ur own child(like putting the baby sleep in the other room from day one😭..my heart akes with that)
-inhumanity
list could go on....
wat is my culture....our wat I call Indian
-belongingness
-compassion
-love
-care
-smiling at strangers..
-read any of the indian history..they highlight will be love & care & passion
from that point of view I feel GEET in very native
this wat I feel

Hi,
I think the show is great, and compared to Western TV and cinema itself Geet is okay.
It does show some intimate moments, but that is to be expected as its genre is mostly romance.
I think the club scene was Western, but India itself is waking up to the Western world and accepting some of its qualities, but it also embraces its natural and native culture. Indians still care about religion and Indian customs, if you look at the typical Indian household.
And then there are some that go clubbing and drink and blah blah :) But the people that do that aren't the majority.
The club scene and all these western-like attributes are meant to bring Maan and Geet together. They are meant for plot development.
But I think Geet herself and the show will always remain Indian at heart. Why? Geet didn't change her clothing (salwar kameezes) even after moving to the city and being taunted by so many people like Sasha and Ms. Rathod. She didn't give up on her values. In addition, Maan loves her the way she is--showing a girl like Pari who wears short clothes is only for plot development as Maan wanted to make Geet jealous so she'd confess. He doesn't really like girls who wear revealing clothes.
Geet made the launch party theme Indian, and it was very successful. Probably more successful than the original planned Western theme would have been. I think the CVs were trying to send us a message there.
In a recent episode, Geet was picturized as the typical Indian bride, with earrings, necklace, bangles, etc. She looked pretty with Indian ornaments on.
And she doesn't act really bold like Western girls do. She still has Indian shame.
I think Geet may be becoming slightly westernized, but I don't see why it matters. We here are all Indians, and we probably all do something western or have western influence somewhere in our lives, like we may wear jeans, listen to Western music, watch Western movies, speak English, etc. Of course we don't go clubbing, but it's the demand of the script so why not go along with it? It's not like we're going to do it.
No matter what, at heart we're still Indian!
At the end of the day, it's a show, and it's meant to be enjoyed. If there's anything a little too extreme (which I don't really think there has been, so far), remember, it's not real life.
Hope I didn't offend anybody with the post, just expressing my views.
Good topic though!

If it is then it is a very good thing. I really don't mind. Thank God, it's not too Ekta-ish or most Zee shows. 😛
Besides, the guy who writes Geet's story, his name is Vincent Franklin. 😆 😆

By definition wezternization is assimilation of Western culture; the social process of becoming familiar with or converting to the customs and practices of Western civilization.
In india, the tradition of writing beautiful love stories, with all the expression that go along with love has been a long standing one. The love stories have warried with the themes, backgrounds, characters, etc but the main theme has been the interactions and actions of the protagonists and the many forms in which love is portrayed. wether its familial, brotherly, or romantic love. the transition of this show from village to town has not changed the characterization of the main couple but the change in the portrayal in their feelings comes with the growth of their love. if the show was western than it would lose the beauty of the feelings which the characters have and portray them very differently than what the cv's are showing. so, i like the show as it is and fell that it is very indian in its roots and portrayal. i mean no disrespect by my opinion, only wish to share my thoughts.

No, I won't consider Maaneet's romance as being westernized nor the outfits shown as well...we have to look at the setting being shown and then analyze the situation...if you are in a disc..then you'll defo see girls in skimpy outfits...but I agree that sometimes Sasha's dresses look outta place for a business setting but I guess in Khurana Constructions you wear what you're comfortable in....plus Maaneet's scenes show how deeply in love they are getting....at first they would get off soon and be uncomfortable and now that has lowered down a lot not because they are being westernized...but because they don't find it very awkward anymore...esp from Maan's POV these days, and are enjoying each other's closeness that is being in love......but don't quit the show on this account cause the confession or confrontation is soon to happen and then the show will be back on track!!
