Wedding Sari - Family uniform?!! : ) Good one!! 😃

Actually I think it;s called 'Koorai pudavai' and I believe some families have the custom of wearing this on their wedding day, i.e. for the actual muhoortham I think. I may be wrong. I have seen this saree in some movie weddings too... 😳 😉

But I agree with you Bharadwaj , I too won;t like to wear this lousy color on the Big day of my life! Good we do not belong to Sivagami's family! : ) 😆 😃

I understand that wearing a white blouse with a red sari may be the 'uniform' in some families, but at least the red sari could be a silk sari with some jarigai border. Does it have to be a dull cotton sari without a border? Even cotton saris come with some great borders these days, and some of them look better than silk saris. Shouldn't one's wedding day be the biggest day of all in a girl's life? Even for the sake of sampradayam, they shouldn't make a bride look so awful, esp when all around her are wearing such nice saris. As Keerthi said, I am also glad I didn't belong to such a family! I would have walked out if they had asked me to wear a white blouse at that, even if the groom had been as good looking as ... Dev Anand? Amitabh Bacchan? or as madly in love with me as Selvam is with Archana, so there would have been no marriage.
