CHAPTER 3
She didn't know what to do, Maybe we should call the doctor she thought. She wiped away her tears and ran upstairs.
Bihaan was in pain, but he was astonished by her, more than the pain. Then he noticed that Dhruv was watching...but she wouldn't cry if she was trying to make him jealous. Yea, Bihaan noticed. He noticed when they tried to make each other jealous. But Thapki wouldn't do that? Right? She's always wanted to make Dhruv move on, things would just be so much easier if I didn't marry her in the first place. The pain of guilt encompassed, surrounded and surpassed his physical pain he experienced from the fall. But he trusted her, if she was doing something it was for the best of intentions, even towards him. He remembered the time she took her statement back from the police.
She came rushing down with her phone...
Thapki: Bihaan Bihaan main doctor ko phone karti hu...
Bihaan: abey oy chuk chuk gaaadi, koi Doctor ki zaroorat nahi. Hum theek hai.
Thapki: Dhiik rahhaa hai, tumhara haatth...
Bihaan: bas karo ab, hum P se Poori tara theek hai, yeh to kuch nahi hai, humne to isse badi badi chote khaayi hai. But his voice didn't have confidence it had pain.
Thapki thought of all of the times Bihaan risked his life to save her, then for once she remembered the words she used with him in the past. After she had found out he was adopted, she didn't know how to react. HE was right, he has had greater pains in his life. But if he has experienced pain, then why did he not have the ability to empathize when it came to Thapki? It still bugged her, she couldn't ignore him, his pain, or his mistake. She realized that Bihaan was all she thought of, at times overwhelming feelings of affection, and at times overflowing bursts of anger. She just noticed that every family member was watching her every move.
Aditi really wanted these movie plans to continue, it would allow for her to begin the first plan. MISSION JEEJ ko pataao. She needed to break through to him first. He seemed to be the less stubborn one of the two, but was he really? She just didn't know, but it wouldn't hurt to try.
Aditi: OH no, Jeeju, ab humaare movie plan ka kya hoga?
Thapki: Kaunsa Movie Plan...kkkoi movie plan nahi ho raha, abhi bahut saaraa kaam baki hai
Aditi: Tum akele kaam karogi?
Thapki: NAhi voh bihaan...
Aditi: Tum bihaan ko aisi haalat mein kaam karvaaogi, kaisi biwi ho yaar...
Thapki: Lekin...
Aditi: Lekin vekin kuch nahi...movie night matlab movie night hai na jeej?
Bihaan: Bilkul! M se Movie or N se Night. Aur vaise bhi hum comedy movie dekhne vale hai thapki, tumhein nahi dekhna to mat dekhna...
Thapki: nahi mujhe kuch kaam hai
Aditi frowned and nodded her head signaling Bihaan that this isn't going to work, her sister is too stubborn, but he knew how to change her mind. In the past 2 and a half months he had come to know how to, but then again chuk chuk gaadi can be moody, but he decided to convince her anyway.
He immediately took away the icepack from her hand...and started to keep it up by himself.
Thapki: kya kar rahe ho BIhaan, main kar rahi hu na, tumhein dard hoga
Bihaan: Humaare dono haathon mein chot nahi lagi, sirf ek hi haath mein lagi hai...vaisi bhi movie night mein tum thodi na hogi humaara ice pack pakadne keliye...hum karlenge, tum jaao apna K se kaam or P se planning karo. Bye...and as he raised his hand to wave goodbye...a sharp pain struck his arm again, it hurt to raise it, and he couldn't stop himself...
Bihaan: ahh...
Thapki: KYa hua Bihaan? She immediately took back the ice pack and continued to press it against his arm with greater pressure.
she realized she had snatched the icepack away from him in haste, deep down she knew that if she stayed away from him for the night all she would do is worry, would she really get anything done?
Thapki: Kya kahaa tha tummne hum comedy movie dekh rahe hai...
Bihaan: ha
Thapki: kaunsi?
Aditi: 3 Idiots...
Thapki: Ye to meri favorite movie hai...
Bihaan: Lekin tum to nahi dekhne vaali thi, lau ice pack vaupas kardo
Thapki: Voh mujhe pata nahi tha na...ki...before she could complete her thoughts, she was interrupted by...
Shraddha: Tum apne pati ko aise dard mein nahi chod sakti hai na? HOWWW CUTE
Dhruv fumed with anger...he was about to storm away.. when Shraddha stopped him.
Shraddha: Tum nahi aaoge,
Dhruv: nahi mujhe bahut kaam hai...
Shraddha: Mere liye bhi nahi?
Dhruv observed Thapki and Bihaan, they were starting to look like a real couple, he didn't want to admit that she looked different these days from when she first came to the Pandey home. Her eyes were fresher, they didn't look like she was crying at nights anymore, would her brother treat Thapki right? Bihaan would never hurt her, that doesn't make him any less guilty for what he did, how did Thapki forgive him? I guess they understand each other in a way I don't he thought. But he still hoped that Thapki would stop this wedding from happening, somehow someway. He decided to stay, he owed shraddha that much.
Dhruv: theek hai shraddha Tum kehti ho to ruk jaataa hu, glancing to see Thapki's reaction, but she wasn't even looking in his direction, she was ONLY concerned about "her Bihaan." Dhruv tried not to think about her, but it was harder seeing them together.
Thapki had been in the game room only once, she never went in there. However, she did remember Dhruv talking about it, how Bihaan and him would stay up nights playing games and watching movies...Anger overtook Thapki thinking about how Bihaan ruined not only lives, but Dhruv sir's concept of brotherhood...but more than that it was sadness. IT was sadness that she never got to see that element of the brothers, and unfortunately she was the reason. IT was dusty, its seemed like even the workers decided not to enter the room if Bihaan baba and Dhruv baba haven't made it a mess yet.
Bihaan: Oy chuk chuk gaadi, kya dekh rahi ho?
Thapki: Kuch Nahi...
And they all took their respective seats on sofas. On the left sofa, Thapki sat in between Aditi and Bihaan and Dhruv and Shraddha sat on the right sofa. Aditi was going to do anything and everything during this movie to bring the two closer, she decided that she was going to take up more space on the couch pushing Thapki towards Bihaan. She slowly started to shift her body towards her sister, pretending to fall asleep, Thapki naturally moved closer to Bihaan, but she was trying to resist getting to close...His hand was completely numb, and he decided to tell Thapki to stop with the ice pack.
As he moved towards her to move the icepack away, Thapki lost her balance in resisting and bumped right into Bihaan, completely falling and leaning into Him. For a moment, she didn't want to lift herself up. His eyes were mesmerizing, and his arm was around her. Bihaan didn't realize when his arm went around her, it was becoming so natural to just hold her when she fell. He didn't want to take his arm away, keeping her in his arms was so comforting. Bihaan had never felt possessive of Thapki, he didn't have the right to, or he never let himself feel it, but right there in that moment he felt like her protector. He felt like he was meant to hold her, for the first time he felt like she was only his responsibility, not out of obligation because he was her legal husband, but out of care and LOVE. That was it, he knew he loved her. And once he knew it, fear arose too quickly, he let go and she quickly propped herself up. She didn't love him, and never would.
He wanted to leave, because he was Angry at himself for falling in love with her. HE was Angry that he married his Brother's true love. He was angry that GOD gave him love, but in a way he could never call the love his own, despite her being his legal wife. HE saw that not one person was paying attention to the movie. Aditi was sleeping, Dhruv must have left, Shraddha was sleeping, and Thapki was still recovering from the uncomfortable situation she was just in, looking down, and straightening her kurti. The thought that being in his arms made her uncomfortable provoked his state of fear and anger level to new heights...He couldn't take it. He rose with fury, and didn't realize that Thapki was about to reapply the icepack, she lost balance from Bihaan's sudden movement and was on the ground. Bihaan was in such rage, he didn't realize that he walked right past a hurt, cold, and confused Thapki. She was crying. He just left her like that, but isn't that typical Bihaan? Just when she starts to feel affection towards him, his actions snatch it away...
She wanted to go question him, how dare he just move past his wife like that ? I am his responsibility even if it is obligatory. Since when did she start thinking this way? She was the Strong Thapki who never needed to be dependent on anyone, she got up and felt a hollow thud in her heart as the phone rang loudly, who would call this late at night? Would it be Bihaan? was he going to say sorry? She was excited to pick her phone waiting to hear an aplology, but it was her brother.
And as she picked up the phone she heard his words the phone dropped out of her hands, she ran down the stair out the door, caught the first riksha she saw, and was on her way to the Hospital...
when she reached there she saw her Mom, and Brother crying...she couldn't move, she was numb. She saw Aditi rushing towards them...in haste Thapki didnt realize that her sister was right behind her...Aditi started to cry as she saw her Mother's disheartened, weak, hopeless face...Aditi started a conversation with the Doctor
Doctor saab: Bahut zyaada blood loss hua hai, police Report hochuki hai, hum blood donor ki zaroorat hai.
Thapki Immediately volunteered herself, she couldn't cry she Had to stay strong for the family. She went inside, but realized immediately that her blood group was B+, Aditi's was B+ and So was her mother's. Her Brother had B- and her father was O-. The odds were not in their family's favor. The problem was apparent, and to find a blood donor in time for the surgery to happen was difficult. Her mind was boggled. Who could have done this to her father? She heard her brother fighting with the police about hit and run cases, and how they never find the culprit. She wanted to cry, but nothing seemed to come out, she needed something. What did she need? She saw Vasu rushing in, and bauji, her babhis and bhais followed, but her eyes were frantically searching for HIM, she saw dhruv sir, and behind him she caught the glimpse of his watch. She couldn't stop herself now, her heart pounded as the speed of her steps increased and moved towards him, she no longer had control of her body and she was running, the distance seemed endless, and as she could smell his scent she knew he was near, she slammed herself into him and disintegrated into his arms...He felt the floor beneath him shift, she was bursting out into tears yelling his name...
Thapki: Bahaman Bihaaan,
He knew that she was emotionally torn up, and undoubtedly needed someone, and to his surprise she was in his arms, and not anyone else's. He pulled her into a tight embrace and sushed her...
Bihaan: shhh, thapki sab theek ho jaayega...He tried to calm her down brushing his hand through her hair, trying to stop the sobbing, but it didn't work, he sat her down next to him, still holding the embrace, she didn't move. She finally cried, and she was glad she got it all out. She knew that she was in the arms of a man who betrayed her, but it felt soo safe. As if he would somehow take care of everything, even though she knew this wasn't in Bihaan's hands, but in God's. She knew she was dependent as much as she wanted to deny it, she needed his touch, his care, his presence. She couldn't love him for what he did, but she couldn't hate him for what he had become. He had become her support system, and she didn't want to lose it, not right now, not when she needed it the most. She pulled away for a moment, realizing she hadn't eaten anything in hours, the stress got to her and she passed out into his arms...
He held her as she slept, feeling her breathe, and smelling her fragrance, he tried to drift off, but the worry of Thapki not being in his arms when he woke up kept him up...at last his pain too caught up, his arm was swelling, but he'd better not tell anyone, especially not now, the best he could do was give it rest. HE too drifted off into deep sleep, not knowing what would happen next, but satisfied to be able to comfort the one woman that brought comfort to him.

Chapter 4
She woke up first, her heart fluttered with excitement, not fear. Her eyes swelled with tears of relief, not hurt. Her head rested on his chest with affection not dependence. This was her turning point, she had been wrong all along, what she thought was dependence of touch, care, and presence, was need, it was want, and it was love. But as beautiful she felt in his arms, the ugly, dreadful reality hit her hard, what had happened to her father? She immediately shuffled, but caught herself quick enough to not wake her husband up. She smiled to herself, "my husband," she thought. But she had to leave that thought, because he never married her with the intention of making her his wife, rather stopping her from being Dhruv sir's wife. Her fresh mood was sinking drastically, in sorrow, mystery, and urgency to learn about her father's health, and the culprit who caused this tragedy.
But to her surprise she saw her mother, and Aditi Smiling, her brother was still talking to the police. Aditi walked towards her sister and sleeping Jeejaji.
She quietly sat next to her sister, being aware that her brother-in-law was still fast asleep.
Thapki tried to quietly slip out of the embrace, she was only half successful, because he wouldn't let go of her hand, which he held with a firm, immovable, protective grip. Even in his sleep...thought Thapki ...even in his sleep...and she shook her head smiling... but only briefly as she was interrupted by a whispering Aditi...
Aditi: Thapki, Jeejaji hero hai hero, pata hai kal raat kya hua???
Thapki: Kya hua, kya kiya Bihaan ne, main maaainn toooh, mujhhhe laga ki voh yahi hai...mere paaas...
Aditi: Pata nahi, kab, kaise lekin kal raat tum bilkul thak chuki thi tumne kuch khaayaa nahi tha, aur phir tum behosh hogai thi, uske baad tum neend se jaagi hi nahi...
Lekin kal raat kuch dedh ghante keliye jeej gayab the, pata nahi kaha gaye, kaise gaye, kya kiya lekin Voh ladka dekh rahi ho, blue jacket mein, uska naam Harshad hai, usne kal raat papa keliye Blood donate kiya...pata nahi Jeej ne unhe kaha dhunda... kaise dhunda, lekin voh ladka itna acha hai, papa ki surgery do ghanto ke baad hai, voh keh raha hai ki surgery complete hone ke baad hi voh jaayega.
Aditi kept talking about Harshad and his life story, the only thing she picked up was that he was a Doctor, and had a daughter whose mother died in a car crash, hit by a drunk driver. It came together in Thapki's thoughts, why Harshad was willing to donate blood at 2 AM, but what mesmerized her was how Bihaan left in the middle of the night without her noticing and returned, deliberately bringing her back into his arms. She was completely caught up in it, and flattered, a sudden rush went down her spine and after long she experienced shyness, not just any kind of shyness, but the kind that made her cheeks turn a rosy red. She wanted to slip back into his arms, She wanted to slip back into the betrayer's arms. She needed to get past it, could she? Maybe he had changed, maybe her staggered talking doesn't bother him. He does call her chuk chuk gaadi, but isn't that just teasing? Or does he do it to make actual fun of her? All of these thoughts were jumbling up in her head, what she really needed was a shower, but one thing Thapki learned in the past 2 and a half months was to live in the moment. Life had taught her not to dwell in the past, or worry about the future. She shuffled right back into his arms, how easy it was. How natural. How Romantic. Thapki was in love, and she wanted to scream it, shout it, but to her that was all childish and immature. She was his wife, and now she was going to prove it, so what if their marriage began on the rocks, it will not end, SHE won't let it. Even if he doesn't love her, she will win him over. Thapki knew that once she devoted her heart to him, there was no looking back, this was it, God had brought them together and Thapki won't let this sacred bond, spiritual union of marriage shatter into pieces, even if a part of her is angry at him for what he did. She leaned into him wrapping her arms around him tighter, not realizing that she was hurting him.
Bahaman: OOuuuch, and he was awake...
Both of their eyes met and locked for what felt like an endless era of admiration, but only lasted seconds because Thapki noticed the swelling, his hand was multiple shades of blue/green and purple. This was definitely a fracture. She was about to vocalize her concern, but he was still a little mesmerized by her...He took his arm and cupped her face, brushing her cheek with his thumb,
Bihaan: chuk chuk gaadi...sote hue itni buri bhi nahi lagti, Thapki's stomach dropped a thousand feet, he was adoring her, he was caressing her, and he was acting like a husband. She could feel his breath near her cheek...
Bihaan was bursting with affection and burning with desire, he wanted to feel her soft rosy skin touch his lips, but he was afraid. She doesn't feel that way about him, does she? He was so close to planting a kiss on her temple, but refrained. He couldn't, it would violate Thapki's beliefs, she would feel taken advantage of, and he would never do that in moment of emotional vulnerability, especially because it was her Father who was the reason of her weakness. Instead he softly moved the luscious curls off of thapki's face, and slowly set them behind her ears. He wanted to tell her how beautiful she was, but afraid that she would get the wrong idea out of it, because he didn't love her for what she appeared to be, but what she encompassed on the inside. He was just satisfied that she was there, and still hadn't left. He saw nervousness in her, for him, it made him smirk. He wanted to say something...
Bihaan: Chuk Chuk Gaaadi... voh
Thapki: Tum mujjhhhee humm hummesha chuk chuk gaadi kyun bulaate, ho pata hai mujhe kitna bura lagta hai...
Bihaan was taken aback, her voice was not serious, nor was it a bluff, it was cute like an innocent child, and she was leaning back into him, he continued to caress her hair, it was so soft, fresh, and light he thought.
Bihaan: tumhein such main bura lagta hai...CHUK- CHUK gaaadi...enunciating his words further
Thapki nodded her head against his chest up and down indicating yes.
Thapki: kabbhi kabhhi lagta hai
Bihaan: Theek hai to phir hum tumhein chuk chuk gaadi aaj se kabhi nahi bulaayege...
Thapki: Nahi...she stopped him before he could complete
Thapki: Mujhe kabhi kabhi bura lagta hai, humeshhha nnnahi
He smiled, he pulled her tighter into the embrace...but ended up hurting himself
Bihaan: aaahhh
Thapki was angry now...
BIHAAN: BAS, bahut ho gaya
Bihaan had never seen her this angry, not even when she gave all of her DHOKA lectures.
Thapki: Mujhe kuch nahi sunna, ab agar tummmne is haath ka ilaaj nahi karvayya na TO Mujhse BURA KOI NAHI HOGA!!!
Bihaan was actually scared, scared of his Wife. HIS wife, he thought. Both awkwardly pulled away from each other, this was new to them. It was different, weird, and unique. They knew their relationship wasn't that of a husband and wife, but they were no longer strangers, they were no longer just friends, they were something else.
She tried to follow him to the Emergency Outpatient clinic, on the 3rd floor of the Hospital, but he stopped her...
Bihaan: Thapki, tum kyun aa rahi jaao, apne ma, aur bhai, aur aditi ke saath jaao, aur vaise bhi...TUMhein naahne ki zaroorat hai...Waving his hands back and forth in front of his nose indicating that she stinked...
Thapki was annoyed...It hadn't been two minutes since they separated and here he was teasing her again...She stomped and stormed away.
He heard her laughing, of course he was joking...she turned around and continued to follow him...
Thapki: Tum to paagal ho hi, leeekiin tum mujhe bhi PPP she pppagal kardoge
Bihaan: Gajab, tum to bilkul humaari tara baat karne lagi ho...
Thapki: Toopiccc Change mat karoo...Chalooo
Bihaan started to run, trying to leave Thapki Behind...he ran to the elevator, she tried to keep up with his pace, but he was already in the elevator...She tried to stop it but her dupatta got stuck in the elevator, and closed...
Bihaan was scared for a second, he didn't want her hand to get caught in the elevator, but luckily it was just her dupatta. She was wearing Red, he neatly folded it, and put it into his pocket, she was not going to get it back so easily he thought...
She was waiting for him, outside the elevator, with her cute angry red nosed face.
Thapki: Mere dupatta mujhe vopus do...
Bihaan: Kabhi nahi dege
Thapki: Bihaan...
Bihaan: aahh mera haath, me jaa haha hu, and he went into the ER clinic
In honesty, Thapki kind of felt uncomfortable without her dupatta. She liked this Red dress, but it was a bit lower than she thought it was, or maybe she was overthinking it, because her dupatta wasn't there to cover her up.
She sat down on the waiting bench trying to fold her arms in a graceful way, to try and cover herself up, but she looked and felt uncomfortable...ugh now she was angry with him. He should've known better, he knows me well enough to know that I'd feel uncomfortable, he didn't even think about it once...
Bihaan peeked out, he was waiting his turn in the E.R clinic, and saw an uncomfortable Thapki trying to fold her hands into covering herself up.
Abbe year, he thought, kuch bhi to nahi dikh raha, kaha aaj kal ki ladkiya, aur kaha ye sati savitri...Just then he caught one of the Patients staring at Thapki...Maybe he was staring at nothing, Maybe he was just looking at how beautiful his wife was, whatever it was he better stop staring or else ill punch him until he does...rage was building up in Bihaan...but then he saw Thapki's face...she wasn't just uncomfortable but she was cold, he immediately took his jacket off, oh boy did it hurt to stretch that arm, but he was still able to? He knew he had a fracture...
He quickly stepped out of the room, and from the back covered Thapki with his jacket rubbing her shoulders up and down. She knew it was him, attempting to keep her warm. She smiled and held his hand with hers...as he was about to leave,
Thapki: Bihaan...
Bihaan: Main abhi ayaa...letting go of her hand, but pinching her cheek out of love...She saw the red dupatta sticking out of the back of his jeans pocket, it didn't even fit properly, and looked quite hilarious, but to her it meant the world. He liked to keep her things, and she hoped he would continue to keep her in his life.
End of Chapter 4
