And as per promises made I am here with my supposed essay. Well, honestly my first intention was to draw out a detailed draft for each and every episode that you rolled out...but in matter of few seconds I came to the conclusion that it really isn't my forte! I can pretend all I want but I cannot afford to lose my crown of lazy and hence here is an amalgamation of all that I had to pour out for a journey that is, unfortunately, in your own words nearing its end! History amazes, beguiles and intrigues me in ways more than one and I am left reeling with breezed pleasure away from the morbid reality that continues to destroy all our lives.
When you had begun with a tale of man accused and abused in dark dungeons of a palace of illusions in a time when allegiance was being sworn anew, I felt as if I was transported back to my good old childhood days when the songs of bards would be re-told to me by my pretty grannies and then you added yet another flavor to it and it turned out to be an etched saga of betrayal and counter attacks. Shrutz I have made it clear before that I don't like investing time and energy into things that cannot hot within my encore and I expect people to the same with my scribbles, if at all they plan to. I am not denying this fact that you have a long road to tread before you will find your own satisfaction at being the author that you want: but even then this is a tale that should not be missed.
I know how difficult it is to take a character out of another fictitious piece and weave an entirely another story around the same and sweets, you are doing that with lan! The first introduction of Sanskaar was enough to pique my interests, I wanted explore more of him and see it for myself whether or not he deserves the title of being the Dark Knight. And I was more than happy that he not only deserved the said title but also was much more than being just a wronged man. From plotting his revenge to serving his vengeance and all the while hiding out in the open really opened me up to him and I honestly can't begin to explain this particular part of my emotions in writing! You made him akin to those true blue heroes out of legends, ones who are grievously wronged and who stand against the major evil for a greater good. A romantic notion that all of us have loved ever since we can remember. But the defining moment for this forgotten legend was when he held Ragini at knife point and made her a reluctant nemesis in his shadowy games. You have defined him in ways that I love to read, he not the perfect hero...well truth be said he is far from it, a man ready to destroy everyone and everything all in the name of his revenge can never be labeled as a man of honor yet you gave me enough loopholes to skim through a potential barrier of hate and disgust and then came the master stroke. You pitted sunshine against mighty gloom and no I am not just talking about stark contrast in Sanskaar and Swara that was visible to all but I also speak of Ragini versus Swara and Sanskaar versus Lakshya. Along with the main narrative that dealt with subsiding of hate and its blooming into tender love...the side narratives of Ragini's undiluted hate and Lakshya's unintentional action of being a catalyst along with Shramistha, Janaki, Annapurna and Kaveri were very balanced.
Speaking of them brings me back to the point in hand and that being I still, very much, doubt Shramishtha and now Annapurna as well. How can a mother whose, daughter went through the worst of ordeal still remain so passive in her dealings? And why should Annapurna take a detour and accept a girl whom until yesterday she considered as a taint in honor and decorum that Maheswari's flaunted to all and suntry? I don't really like the look of it all...there is something wrong with both these woman, especially Shramishtha...what I don't know and I am making wild guess that you must be holding some cards really too close to yourself.
Having said so it brings me back to thing I really wanted to speak of...beginning with Swara's abduction. More anything else I must write this down that I love, love and simply love the way you have brought about the ruling of psyche in the bygone era. A man's mistake however lethal and disreputable is never questioned but a slight flaw in the conduct of a woman opens her to scrutiny by common gazes. Ragini's assertion of the same was for me the detrimental instrument of change and I knew this would somewhere come back to haunt the two in a manner more tedious and horrendous than what they can ever imagine to. And you played by that so brilliantly! The other thing that I want to make a mention of is the flow of storyline...I vehemently hate those scenarios where love, hate or apathy happen in jiffy and you are left feeling cheated, I don't like justification of evil or a glossy covering to simpleton of emotions and sweets, I could smash myself through my laptop screen and give a hug for not hurling such bizarre situations on our faces. Sanskaar was stirred with the underplay of the events but he was never overthrown in his treading that dangerous route. There are few distinct artistic impressions in the tale so far that I cannot shake off my head. First one has to be the Samkalgoonj episode...I have to make this confession here I hadn't really expected such a subtle, almost recondite acceptance of emotions on Sanskaar's part. Honestly that was when you jumped to the narration proper, and it was beautiful. The next one is definitely the Ehsaas Nagar's newfound ehsaas' being slowly stirred in our protagonists! It is very interesting that you chose such names for the places to mark as a checkpoint of sorts. And the third one is when Swara loses herself to hysteria as an aftermath of her first kill. I loved that you did not skip that one point that was of utmost importance. For a girl, however rejected and demeaned, who is brought up in an elite society and who has been long since prevented from all sort of harsh brutalities...it is a matter of utter unrest that a man however scrupulous died at her hand. That survivor's guilt in her was a master stroke and I can't help but marvel that you did not skip these small but relevant details!
Oh and of course the ultimate villainy makes an entrance and I swear my heart fluttered. While I do ship good over evil and man chosen of destiny against a greater evil, there is something orgasmic about men who are evil to a point that nothing else can define them. I have said this before and I say this again...I don't like evil being justified, evil is evil. One doesn't have to brand it into different categories to let people know what it truly holds...and Devendra is one such man. He is bad because he is bad...no strings attached that can justify his stand, no morals or situation behind him that can as catalyst...he is pure and unadulterated form of that greater evil and I love it! Sanyoggadh episode is my favorite and stands so without a competition. And no! Before you draw a conclusion that would define me as a potential sadist let me tell you that I for one am not! But I do appreciate dark humor and tale...you see there is something magnetic about dark abyss and it creatures that adds to the fun. Devendra is my fun even he turns our protagonists and deuterogamist's life in complete and utter hell...and I unabashedly love and adore him. Thereafter that torture sequence, well it was a bit too tamed for liking...I had honestly expected more...much more that would jolt a more severe and scathed reaction from our knight whose dark is somewhat turning into grey. I had a bit more of expectation laid on that particular sequence and it did not happen to m liking...sorry if I am hurting your sentiments but I can't go on about something that didn't interest me or held my attention!
But hey! You did fulfill my dream of seeing a weapon wielding Swara. There is something about queens and their badass avatar that turns me on...I love alpha women; ones who are unapologetic about who they are, ones who can cause a caustic reaction and ones who can all ruthless in their conduct and yet hold a bottom less ocean of good within their delectable frames...that to me is the ultimate picture and Swara in this particular episode had come quite close to my fevered imaginations...and of course more blood and gore that followed, although here too I wanted it to be a bit more bloody for Sanskaar was an avenging knight but I think it did fit the bill. Okay a quick escalation of things from here...the romance was dealt with beautifully though what I personally loved was Sanskaar internal monologue's as they were the ones that outshone the foreground events and hey..did I mention that I love Pawan? Boy he is so cute choirboy kind of a creature...amenable one and definitely my favorite after Sanskaar and Devendra! (Yes, me loves him!)
I would like to skim over other chapters as they were more of a take on societal pressure and the plight of women caught there in, but even then they aren't to be missed or dismissed. Among all this two things I need to make a clear mention of first Ragini and her thought process. I cannot begin to tell you how much I love the way you have played on her psyche. She is that moth that flickers to the flame deliberately to have itself killed and before doing so creates oodles of irritation for others around. She is desperate villain and that shows, damn why couldn't the makers have made her so? She was and will always remain the dumbest of villain on this planet! Period. I loved how you have brought her facets out...she doesn't really have much to hide or flaunt but with whatever little materials that constitutes her...you have given her an edge and I simply love you for the same. She thinks herself to be a vilified victim...a pretty delusional take on her stupidity but believable nonetheless. The second one is the military planning that every minister and the famed General made. The minute detailing on that really lifted the entire episodic unraveling...since we are dealing with time that are turbulent and treacherous and it adds to the fervent imagination of all I believe and not just me. You seem to be holding this one aspect of the story very tightly and not letting this details skip at any point and that is amazing for it simply takes the story and spins to further twisting angles and we poor readers have to ransack every corner of our brains to hit your wavelength...koi nahi pakad mein tumhe bhi aana hai!*evil smile*
And Kavita emerges from the ashes of her past and man...I love this delusional piece of a vamp. There is something dangerous about those who have their intentions out in the open. She is so overt that it is brilliantly covert and there is nothing that you can do about the same. Either you can look at them in feared reverence and wait for them to strike or hide your all and pray they never find you. This one is that. Kavita on her own has no identity of her own put in the hands of someone like Devendra she is a vile, deadly and lethal weapon! She hates a woman whom she has never laid her eyes on, she hates the prospect of being subjected to abstract poverty and more so hates the fact the her favorite toy now has a mind of his own and has rejected her over a queen in the making. Kavita is scary because she isn't guided by a personal interest it is simply Devendra twisting her up and I believe things are all set to get murkier now with every equation out in the open. As far as Swara is concerned then the queen in her is coiling to wake and it was delight to see her fare so well in the face of looming distrust and pain. Well done girl is what I'd like to say. All in all the game is now reaching its peak and it is going to be fun-freakin-tastic to see how things escalate from here...crescendo is just at the corner from the looks of it all. Even then I have a few questions of mine and hence I shoot:
1# When Swara returned with Sanskaar as the heroine emerging out of fire, why did Shramishtha did not react? I mean come on your daughter is being hailed as a heroine and all you do is plaster a pain smile? Why??
2# When Sanskaar had been hurling accusation at Ragini, Shramishtha didn't react at all? This is too fishy and I don't like the look of it at all!
3# When Swara had been recounting her torture at the hands of Devendra, Shramishtha came across as too distant...I don't like this either!
4# Who was that lady who had been writing a letter beside her sleeping husband? Was that Ragini and what was there in the letter? Is she by any means a partner to Dushta Trishyaam" viz. Kaveri, Kavita and yes the bid daddy Devendra??
5# Why is Annapurna all of a sudden so much on the defensive especially for Swara? Why did she not allow Swara to take away the letter with her or have it destroyed right in front of her? She seems fishy too!
My final line is Shramishtha isn't good, Ragini has a plan up her sleeve and Annapurna is hiding something and all this is just the tip of the iceberg! Come up with the next installment already...I am too heavily invested in it to let go!
Gaaah! I did it! OH. EM. GEE. *khushi ke aansu*
Oh and yes..me mohabbats you! That's all!!
