Spider-Man star Tom Holland gave fans a real scare when a high-octane stunt on the set of his next Marvel outing went unexpectedly wrong. The 28-year-old actor, who is currently shooting Spider-Man: Brand New Day, suffered a mild concussion after a fall while filming at Leavesden Studios in Watford, Hertfordshire. According to international reports, Holland was treated for head injuries and taken to a nearby hospital. A woman believed to be his stunt double was also taken to hospital in an ambulance.
The incident prompted an immediate halt in filming. Production sources confirmed that Holland is “taking a break out of precaution” and is expected to return to work in a few days. Producers from Sony and Marvel are scheduled to meet soon to reassess the shooting schedule, though insiders believe the brief suspension will not affect the film’s overall timeline.
Inside the Big-Budget Marvel Sequel
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is one of the most anticipated superhero films of the decade, with a reported budget of $150 million. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film began production in Glasgow in early August before moving to the UK studios. Holland is once again joined by his fiancée Zendaya, along with Jacob Batalon, Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal, Kevin Feige, Mark Ruffalo and Michael Mando in key roles.
The movie is scheduled for a grand theatrical release on July 31, 2026, and will continue the beloved Marvel storyline with fresh twists. Despite the sudden pause, sources close to the production maintain that the release date remains unchanged.
Holland’s Excitement for His Fourth Spider-Man Outing
Before the accident, Sony had shared a behind-the-scenes video of Holland stepping into his red-and-blue suit for the first time since Spider-Man: No Way Home. “It’s my fourth ever day one as Spider-Man,” Holland said in the clip. “It feels different this time. We even had fans on set from day one, which makes it extra special.”
For now, fans across the globe are sending their best wishes for a speedy recovery. With Holland expected back on set soon, the web-slinger’s next adventure looks set to stay on track, just with a little more caution in the stunt department.
