Chapter- 5

[LOCATION: RAGINI'S HOUSE]

Ragini is having dinner with her parents at home. Suddenly, her phone rings. It's Lakshya. At first, Ragini ignores the call.

Ragini's mom- RG, Lucky ka phone hai. Utha le!

Ragini- Mom, rehne do. Waise bhi, bakwaas hi toh karega. Kaunsa koi important baat karni hogi usko?

Mom- Ye kya keh rahi hai tu, RG? Best friend hai woh tera. Use tujhe call karne ke liye important kaam ki kya zaroorat hai? Pehle toh tum dono ek doosre se din bhar chipke rehte the. Woh call karta tha toh tu naachna shuru kar deti thi. Abb kya hua? Main kayi dino se dekh rahi hu, kuch ajeeb behave kar rahi hai tu. Sab theek hai na tere aur Lucky ke beech mein?

Ragini angrily gets up from her chair.

Ragini- Mom please, aap toh aise keh rahi hai jaise Lucky ke bina meri koi life hi nahi. Lagta kya hai woh mera? Bas dost hi toh hai. Thodi na koi boyfriend lagta hai mera? Marr nahi jaaungi main uske bina!

Ragini then angrily goes to her room without having dinner. She lays down on the bed, crying. After a while, her phone rings again. Again, its Lakshya so she ignores it. Lakshya repeatedly keeps calling her and at the 5th call, Ragini finally receives.

Ragini- Kya hai, Lucky?

Lakshya- RG, tu mera phone kyu nahi utha rahi thi?

Ragini- Dekh Lucky, mujhe Vish ko call karna hai. Islye koi important baat hai toh bol warna phone rakh.

Lakshya feels hurt.

Lakshya- Waah RG, itni dur ho gayi tu mujhse ki abb meri awaaz tak nahi sunna chaahti?

Hearing this, Ragini feels like crying but she still remains strong.

Ragini- Ho gaya tera? Kar lee apni bakwaas? Abb kuch zaroori baat hai toh bol warna bye bye!

Lakshya- Actually main tujhse poochna chaah raha tha ki kal tujhe kitne baje pick karne aau?

Ragini- Kyu? Kal koi plan hai tera?

Lakshya- Bhool gayi? Kal prom hai. Har saal hum saath jaate hai toh iss saal bhi saath hi jaayenge!

Ragini- Lucky, pehle ki baat alag thi. Tab tu bhi single tha, main bhi single thi. Lekin abb Tanya teri girlfriend hai.

Lakshya- Aur Vish tera boyfriend, hai na?

Ragini gets shocked.

Ragini- Haa? Kya bol raha hai tu? Vish mera best friend hai bas aur kuch nahi.

Lakshya- Best friend? Do din pehle tak toh main tera best friend tha, aur abb Vish!

Ragini- Dekh Lucky, tu Tanya ke saath jaa. Iss saal waise bhi mera mood nahi hai prom night mein jaane ka.

Lakshya- Accha! Toh tu nahi aayegi?

Ragini- Nahi.

Lakshya- Vish ke saath bhi nahi?

Ragini- Nahi! Abb teri baat khatam ho chuki ho toh main phone rakhti hu. Mujhe neend aa rahi hai.

Without waiting for Lakshya's reply, Ragini disconnects the call and starts crying vigorously. After a while, she sleeps. Next day, at around 6 in the evening, Vishal calls Ragini.

Ragini- Haa bol, Vish!

Vishal- Kaha hai tu, RG? Ghar pe hai na?

Ragini- Haa, kyu?

Vishal- Tayyaar ho jaa! Main 10 minutes mein tujhe lene aa raha hu.

Ragini- Kya? Kaha?

Vishal- Prom night mein nahi jaana hai kya?

Ragini- Nahi yaar, mood nahi hai mera. Tu chala jaa.

Vishal- Bakwaas mat kar! Main aa raha hu bas. Tayyaar ho jaa jaldi se.

Ragini- Arrey Vish, meri baat sun...

Before Ragini could say anything, Vishal cuts the call.

Ragini (in mind)- Abb kya karu? Yaar, ye Vish bhi na! Abb toh jaana hi padega.

Ragini wears a white long gown with white heels. She keeps her hair open, puts very little make up. Overall, she looks like a doll. After a while, Vishal reaches her house. Ragini's mother welcomes him. He wears a white shirt, black coat, black trousers, black shoes and a black bow. He too looks very handsome.

Ragini's mom- Arrey Vishal beta, kaise ho? Gayab hi ho gaye tum toh!

Vishal- Aunty, woh bas thoda college ke kaam mein laga hua tha. RG kaha hai?

Ragini speaks from behind.

Ragini- Main yaha hu!

Vishal literally loses his breath on seeing Ragini. He keeps on staring at her. Ragini looks at herself consciously.

Ragini- Kya hua, Vish? Tu mujhe aise kyu dekh raha hai? Main acchi nahi lag rahi? Ruk abhi change karke aati hu!

Ragini is about to go when Vishal holds her wrist.

Vishal- Main kuch bolu toh tu believe karegi?

Ragini- Haa, bol na.

Vishal- Pariyo se bhi zyaada sundar lag rahi hai tu. Pariyaan bhi tujhe dekh kar jal jaayengi aaj

Ragini starts blushing.

Ragini- Kuch bhi bolta hai! Waise, tu bhi accha lag raha hai

Vishal- Thank you. Accha, abb chal already late ho chuke hai

Ragini- Haa chal!

Ragini's mother gets shocked to hear that Ragini and Lakshya are not going together.

Ragini's mom- Tum dono saath jaa rahe ho? Lucky nahi aayega RG ko lene?

Ragini feels irritated to hear this.

Ragini (angrily)- Please mom, aap kyu baar baar Lucky ko beech mein laati ho? Lucky ke alawa bhi ek life hai meri! Ye baat aap kyu nahi samajhti? Hadd hai yaar! Lucky mera boyfriend nahi hai ki har waqt uska aur mera saath hona zaroori ho.

Vishal (angrily)- RG! Ye kya tareeka hai apni maa se baat karne ka? Zara tameez se baat kar!

Ragini feels guilty. She innocently holds her ears.

Ragini- Mom, I'm really sorry! Main kuch zyaada hi bol gayi. Kya aap apni princess ko maaf nahi karogi?

Ragini's mother kisses her forehead.

Mom- Ek maa apni princess se zyaada der tak gussa kaise reh sakti hai? Tu jaa abb. Theek se enjoy karna!

Ragini- Bye mom, I love you.

Mom- I love you too, beta!

Ragini kisses her mother's cheek and goes out with Vishal. They sit in Vishal's car and drive off to the college.

[LOCATION: INSIDE THE CAR]

Ragini- Vish, tujhe main jitna bhi thank you bolu, kaafi nahi hai yaar!

Vishal- Toh mat bol na! Kisne bola thank you bolne ko?

Ragini gives Vishal a smile and Vishal smiles back. After a while, they reach the party venue at college.

[LOCATION: COLLEGE]

Ragini and Vishal enter inside the party venue and everyone's eyes land on them. People start gossiping about them.

Girl 1- Hey dekh na, RG aur Vish ek saath kitne cute lag rahe hai.

Girl 2- Haa, par RG aur Lucky toh har saal prom par saath aate hai. Iss saal kya hua?

Girl 3- Arrey, tum logo ne suna nahi? Aaj kal RG Lucky se zyaada Vish ke saath rehne lagi hai. Mujhe toh lagta hai dono ka kuch chakkar chal raha hai!

Girl 1- Kya? Sach mein? Yaar, saare handsome ladke hamesha iss RG ko hi kyu milte hai? Pehle Lucky aur abb Vish! Arrey, humme kya kami hai yaar? Kam se kam dono mein se ek toh hume milna chahiye!

Girl 3- Sach mein yaar, mujhe bohot jalan hoti hai iss RG se!

Lakshya hears all this. He sees Ragini and gets angry that she came to prom night without informing him. Tanya notices his anger. She is wearing a red short dress with red high heels and loose hair.

Tanya- Kya hua, baby? Tum theek toh ho?

Lakshya- Haa Tanya, I'm fine. Main bas abhi aata hu.

Saying this, Lakshya goes to the bar and starts drinking while his eyes are still red with pain and anger. He continously keeps staring at Ragini who was smiling and enjoying with Vishal. This smile on Ragini's lips irritates him. The fact that she could remain happy without him irritates him. All of a sudden, Vishal's phone rings.

Vishal- RG, tu yahi reh! Main bas do minute mein aaya. Kahi jaana mat, okay?

Ragini- Haa, okay! Jaldi aana.

Vishal goes to the corner and Lakshya sees this. He finds an opportunity to talk to Ragini. He gives a 100 rupees note to a waiter and asks him to spill juice on Ragini's dress. The waiter intentionally spills juice on Ragini's dress as told by Lakshya.

Waiter- I'm...I'm so sorry, ma'am.

Ragini- Koi baat nahi, ho jaata hai! Aap jaayiye.

Ragini walks towards the washroom. In the middle, someone holds her wrist and pulls her inside the physics lab and locks the door. This someone is Lakshya. He pins her against the door. Ragini was about to shout so he puts his hand on her mouth. She looks at him, shocked. Lakshya's eyes were blood red with anger. He slowly removes his hand from her mouth and puts both his hands on her sides, blocking her way. He then comes close to her, very close. So close that their lips are inches apart. Ragini feels uncomfortable.

Ragini- Lucky, tu kya kar raha hai? Jaane de mujhe!

Lakshya- Kyu? Vish ke paas jaane ki itni jaldi hai tujhe? Itna tadap rahi hai uske paas jaane ke liye?

Ragini- Kya? Lucky, tu theek toh hai? Kya ho gaya hai tujhe?

Lakshya- Tujhe kya ho gaya hai, RG? Tune mujhse aaj phirse jhooth bola?

Ragini- Jhooth? Maine kab jhooth bola tujhse, Lucky?

Lakshya- Aaj kal roz jhooth hi toh bolti hai mujhse. Kal bhi jhooth bola tune mujhse ki tu ghar pe hai jabki tu Vish ke ghar pe thi, aur aaj bhi wahi hua. Aaj bhi tune mujhse kaha ki tu prom par nahi aa rahi hai lekin Vish ke saath aa gayi. Ye sab ho kya raha hai, RG? Chal kya raha hai tere aur Vish ke beech?

Ragini- Pehli baat, mere aur Vish ke beech kuch nahi chal raha hai. Aur kuch chal bhi raha hai toh tujhe kya? Dosti toh humari usi din toot gayi thi jis din tune mujhe bataaye bina Tanya ko propose kiya tha. Short skirt, cleavage wagera dekhke patt gaya tu. Physical hone ke liye hi chahiye hai na tujhe Tanya? Hattt mere raaste se, jaane de mujhe! Tere jaise characterless se mujhe koi baat nahi karni.

Ragini tries to push Lakshya away but he holds both her hands and pins her hands against the door with his hands. Ragini winches in pain and struggles hard to escape his grip. Lakshya is even more angry now.

Lakshya- Kar le koshish, par kuch nahi hoga! Poori taakat laga le apni par jab tak main na chahu, tu yaha se hil bhi nahi sakti. Aur haa mere character ki baat kar rahi thi na tu? Characterless lagta hu main tujhe? Agar main characterless hota toh abhi yaha khade hokar tujhse baat nahi kar raha hota. Tune seedhe mere character pe attack kiya! Main chahu toh abhi isi waqt teri izzat ki dhajjiya uda sakta hu, kuch bhi kar sakta hu tere saath, samjhi? Agar main characterless hota toh abhi tere saath woh sab karta jisse tu kisiko mooh dikhaane ke laayak nahi rehti par main aisa nahi karunga. Kyuki mera character waisa nahi hai. Kuch bhi bol, lekin character ke baare mein kuch mat bol.

Lakshya leaves Ragini's hands and goes outside, leaving her alone in the physics lab with tears.

Chapter- 6

{LOCATION: PROM NIGHT VENUE}

After confronting Ragini for lying to him, Lakshya goes back to the bar and starts drinking again. He was hating everything, everything that was happening around him. The noise, music, everyone's laughter all these things were irritating him to an extent where he could take no more. On the other side, Vishal comes back to the party venue after attending the call but he doesn't see Ragini.

Vishal (to himself)- Yaar, ye RG kaha chali gayi? Usko bola tha maine kahi mat jaana!

Vishal enquired about Ragini but no one knew where she was. Having no option left, he finally decides to ask Lakshya if he had seen her.

Vishal- Lucky, tune RG ko dekha kahi? Woh yahi thi thodi der pehle.

Lakshya was already angry with Vishal and Ragini so seeing Vishal's face frustrates him even more.

Lakshya- Tujhe kya lagta hai maine usko kidnap kiya? Kidnap karke kahi chupa diya maine usko? Rape karunga main uska?

Vishal gets angry at Lakshya.

Vishal (angrily)- Dekh Lucky, be in your limits! Hadd mein reh apni, samjha? Tune sapne mein bhi RG ko choone ki koshish ki na toh main teri jaan le loonga.

Lakshya (angrily)- Hattt bey! Tu kya meri jaan lega? Main leta hoon teri jaan. Saale sharam nahi aayi mujhse meri best friend ko alag karte hue? Dost ke naam pe kalank hai tu, samjha? Ek bohot bada daag!

Vishal angrily hits Lakshya and a fight starts between them. Both of them beat each other like amimals when suddenly, Lakshya feels someone's hand patting his shoulder. He comes back to present and sees Vishal. He then realises that all this fight scene was nothing but his imagination.

Vishal- Lucky, main tujhse kuch pooch raha hu!

Lakshya- Haa? Haa, kya poocha tune?

Vishal- RG ko dekha tune? Usko maine yaha khade rehne bola tha par pata nahi kaha chali gayi.

Lakshya- Ummm haa, shayad wash...washroom gayi hogi. Dekha tha maine use uss taraf jaate hue.

Vishal- Haa, ho sakta hai! Thank you.

Lakshya gives a bitter smile to Vishal. Vishal runs to the washroom but in the midway he hears the crying sound of a girl. After observing the voice properly, he comes to know that this voice belongs to Ragini. He runs inside the lab.

Vishal- RG, kya hua tujhe? Tu...tu ro kyu rahi hai?

Ragini hugs Vishal and starts crying even harder.

Vishal- RG, hua kya? Bata to sahi.

Ragini (crying)- Woh...Lucky...Lucky ne...

Vishal- Lucky? Lucky kya, RG? Kya kiya usne tere saath? Kahi usne tere saath kuch aisa waisa toh nahi kiya?

Ragini- Nahi, bas mujhe ehsaas dilaakar chala gaya ki main kitni kamzor pad jaati hu uske saamne.

Vishal- Matlab?

Ragini- Uski problem kya hai, yaar? Kyu woh mujhe khush nahi dekh sakta? Zindagi bhar usse pagalo ki tarah pyaar karne ke bawajood mujhe kabhi uska pyaar nahi mila. Isse pehle ki woh maangta, maine use woh har cheez di jiski use zaroorat thi. Aaj tak exams mein meri wajah se paas karta aaya hai woh, meri wajah se homeworks hamesha ready rehte hai uske. Zaroorat padne par maine apni notebook use di taaki teacher uspe gussa na ho. Inn sab ke badle kya mila mujhe? Kuch nahi! Khair, maine usse kuch expect bhi nahi kiya tha. Par abb, abb jab uski girlfriend hai, abb kyu mujhe meri zindagi nahi jeene deta? Kya mujhe haq nahi ki main doosre dost banaau? Tujhse dosti karne ka haq nahi mujhe?

Vishal hugs her even more tighter.

Vishal- Ssshhh! Ro mat, sab theek ho jaayega. Lucky ko inn sab ki aadat nahi hai. Usne kabhi tujhe kisi aur ke saath dekha nahi hai islye aaj jab dekh raha hai, toh use ye baat hazam nahi ho rahi. Uske liye tujhe kisi aur ke saath dekhna utna hi mushkil hai jitna tere liye use Tanya ke saath dekhna. Par tu tension mat le! Time heals everything. Waqt ke saath woh bhi samajh jaayega.

Vishal wipes Ragini's tears and both walk back to the hall. Lakshya sees them together and his eyes turn blood red. Ragini tries her level best to avoid him. Tanya goes to him and pulls him to the centre of the party.

Tanya (To everyone)- Hey guys, I gotta make an announcement. Waise toh aap sab ko pata hai ki prom night par dance, music ye sab har saal hota hai. Lekin iss saal hum iske alawa kuch aur bhi karenge.

Lakshya- Kya karne ka plan hai tumhara, Tanya?

Tanya- Iss saal hum sab apne apne partners ko kiss karenge. So, are you guys ready?

Crowd- Yeahh!

A picture of Ragini kissing Vishal immediately comes to Lakshya's mind.

Lakshya- No! Ye...ye kaisa plan hai? Nahi ye...ye accha nahi hai. I...I feel...ummm...uncomfortable!

Tanya- Lucky, tum ladkiyo ki tarah baatein kyu kar rahe ho? Come on, it's just a kiss. You love me, right? Toh mujhe sabke saamne kiss karne mein tumhe kya problem hai?

Lakshya looks at Ragini who was already looking at him. Both have tears in their eyes.

Lakshya (Looking at Ragini)- Problem ye hai ki mujhe aadat nahi hai. Mujhe aadat nahi hai inn sab ki, iss naye change ki. Mujhse bardaasht nahi hota ye sab.

Tanya thinks that Lakshya is saying this to her. She holds his chin and makes him look at her.

Tanya- This is your first kiss, right? Don't worry, I promise you'll feel good.

Ragini's heart starts beating very fast to see all this. She never thought that one day she'll have to see Lakshya kissing another girl, that too right in front of her eyes.
Tears flow down from her eyes. Tanya closes her eyes and leans closer to Lakshya. Lakshya was also very nervous. He didn't know what to do. He didn't want to kiss her. Just when Tanya's lips were about to kiss Lakshya's lips, he turns his face towards Ragini and Tanya ends up kissing him on his cheek. RagLak share an intense eye lock. Tanya feels embarrassed. She holds his hand and pulls him to the corner of the room so that none can see them.

Tanya- Lucky, ye kya kiya tumne? Kitni embarrassment feel ho rahi hai mujhe tumhari wajah se!

Lakshya looks down.

Lakshya- I'm sorry, Tanya! I wasn't ready.

Tanya- What? Tum ladki ho kya? Ladkiyo jaisi baatein kyu kar rahe ho? Yahi baat main bolti toh sunne mein accha lagta. Par tum ek ladka hokar aisa kaise keh sakte ho ki tum ready nahi ho? Aur waise bhi, it was just a kiss! Koi virginity lose karne ko thodi bola tha maine tumse?

Lakshya- I'm...I'm really sorry, Tanya.

Tanya sighs.

Tanya- Look baby, I love you. Main bas chahti thi ki sabko pata chale ki hum ek doosre se kitna pyaar karte hai. And I'm sorry too. Main bhi kuch zyaada hi overreact kar gayi. Chalo abhi dance karte hai.

All the other couples kiss each other on their cheeks. Ragini and Vishal also do the same. Lakshya sees this but he doesn't react. The music starts and all the couples start dancing except Ragini and Vishal. Even though Lakshya dances with Tanya yet his eyes only remain on Ragini. He keeps watching every step of her. Tanya notices this and finds something fishy.

Vishal- RG, sab dance kar rahe hai par kisi mein woh magic nahi hai na?

Ragini- Haa yaar, inn mein se kisi ko dance nahi aata!

Vishal- Main hota toh sabki baja deta.

Ragini folds her hands and raises her eyebrow.

Ragini- Accha? Dance ka "D" bhi aata hai tujhe? Chal chal, tu rehne de. Tere se na ho paayega beta!

Vishal- Oh beta, ye baat? Challenge kar rahi hai tu mujhe?

Ragini- Wahi samajh le!

Vishal- Chal phir, dikhata hu tujhe!

Vishal holds Ragini's hand and pulls her to the dance floor. Ragini forgets about Lakshya and starts dancing with Vishal. Lakshya sees this and his blood starts boiling. His focus was less on Tanya and more on Ragini. Ragini's closeness to Vishal was killing him from the inside. He wasn't being able to bear it and he didn't know why.

Tanya- Lucky, tumhara dhyaan mujhpe kam aur Ragini aur Vishal pe zyaada lag raha hai mujhe. Kuch baat hai kya?

Lakshya- Haa? Nahi toh! Aisa kuch nahi hai. Woh bas main unka dance dekh raha tha. Accha dance kar rahe hai dono!

Tanya- Sirf yahi baat hai ya kuch aur?

Lakshya- Ummm na...nahi toh. Aur...aur toh koi baat nahi.

Tanya- Sach?

Lakshya- Haa!

Tanya hugs Lakshya but he doesn't hug her back. He simply keeps staring at Ragini who was happily dancing with Vishal. Suddenly, a girl announces something.

The girl- Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the most important moment of the evening. The award of the best couple that is Prom King and Queen. So, any guesses?

Crowd- Tanya! Lucky! Tanya! Lucky!

Tanya (To Lakshya)- Dekhna Lucky, iss saal Prom king aur queen toh hum hi banenge!

Lakshya- Thak gaya hu har saal prom king bann bann kar. Abb koi aur bann jaaye toh bhi chalega.

Tanya- Par hum hi banenge, dekh lena!

Lakshya- Theek hai.

On the other side, Vishal and Ragini were also thinking that Lakshya and Tanya will win the awards.

Vishal- Tujhe kya lagta hai? Kaun jeetega?

Ragini- Ye bhi koi poochne waali baat hai? Tanya principal ki beti hai. Usko toh jeetna hi hai. Aur uske saath Lucky hai, toh uski bhi jeet pakki.

Vishal- Tujhe bura nahi lagega?

Ragini- Kyu?

Vishal- Matlab har saal tu hi Prom queen banti hai par iss saal...

Ragini starts laughing.

Ragini- Hattt! Ye sab bakwaas hai. Inn sab awards se kuch nahi prove hota. Aur waise bhi, main pehle bhi bohot baar jeet chuki hu. Abb inn sab se mujhe koi matlab nahi.

Vishal gives a smile to Ragini and she smiles back. On the other hand, the host is now ready to announce the names of the winners.

The girl- So the prom King and Queen are...

Everyone present in the venue look at her with too much excitement except Lakshya, Ragini and Vishal.
