Chapter 10:-
It's the Mehendi and Haldi ceremony of RagLak. Haldi ceremony is to be held during the day time and Mehendi ceremony is to happen in the evening. PRM has sent the shagun haldi and mehendi to Ragini. All the nearby women are applying haldi on Ragini's body. Swara takes a pinch of haldi and applies it on Ragini's nose and runs, laughing. Ragini also starts laughing.
Ragini- Shona, you naughty girl! Don't worry, I'll take revenge soon when you get married.
Swara- Di, there's too much time left for my marriage but you're getting married tomorrow and soon after that, I shall become an aunt of a little Ragini or a little Lakshya.
Swara runs away laughing. Ragini gets upset because she knows this is impossible. Lakshya will never love her.
Ragini (in mind)- Shona, how do I tell you that you won't ever become an aunt? How do I tell you that Lakshya doesn't love me and he's never gonna do?
All the women are applying haldi on Ragini and the same is being done to Lakshya on the other side. All the nearby women are applying haldi on Lakshya's semi nude body. Some women start flirting with him.
Lady 1- OMG Lakshya, Ragini is so Lucky that she's getting married to you. Such an awesome physique you've got!
Lady 2- Exactly, look at his muscles! OMG I can't help it. I gotta flirt with him though I know he's of my son's age.
Lakshya (in mind)- Am I so handsome that even aunties can't stop flirting with me? I'm so lucky! But how unlucky is my destiny that I'm getting married to that behenji!
All the women start laughing. Lakshya is so shy that his cheeks turn red. The women notice this and they laugh even harder. The Haldi ceremony is over now. It's about time for the Maheshwaris to arrive Ragini's place. Jagadhara Devi gadodia (Ragini's mother) is very busy with the decoration and stuff while Swara is sitting with Ragini. Ragini is wearing a red lehenga. She somewhat looks like an angel who stepped down straight from heaven.
JDG (To Swara)- Shona, come here! I need your help. What are you doing there with Guddi?
Swara- Maa, let me stay here with di for sometime. She'll leave us all tomorrow.
Ragini and JDG laugh because they know Swara is just making an excuse so she doesn't have to work. Swara makes a puppy face to melt her mother.
JDG- Stop it now, you drama queen! Come here and help me.
Swara- Uff! Okay.
Swara, JDG and other women are decorating the house. After a few minutes, the Maheshwaris arrive. Many other people also arrive with them. As soon as Lakshya's foot touches the floor of Ragini's house, she feels his presence. She looks at the door and sees Lakshya looking at her. JDG welcomes him with the traditional thaal, teeka, flowers, diya and rice. Lakshya touches her feet and gives Swara a chocolate. Swara literally jumps out of happiness.
Swara- Thank you, thank you, thank you so much, jiju! You're the best.
Lakshya- Hahaha chill, dear saali saahiba! It's just a chocolate. No problem.
JDG gives an angry look to Swara.
JDG- Shona, behave yourself! You're not a kid anymore.
Lakshya- It's okay, maa. She is my only sister in law. Moreover, jijas and saalis are meant to be best friends.
Lakshya (To Swara)- Right, saali saahiba?
Swara- Exactly, jiju. Maa never understands!
JDG (To Swara)- Accha baba okay! Now let him enter.
Lakshya enters inside and looks at Ragini with a smirk. Ragini tries to avoid him but he sits exactly opposite to her so he could see her every step. The mehendi girl is putting mehendi on Ragini's hands.
Mehendi girl- What's the name of the groom?
Ragini is about to say Lakshya's name hesitantly but before she could say, Lakshya answers it.
Lakshya- Lakshya! His name is Lakshya.
Mehendi- Oho! The groom himself came to say his name. How cute!
RagLak look at each other. The mehendi girl writes Lakshya's name on Ragini's palm. Lakshya sees it and smirks. He comes close to her ear and whispers something.
Lakshya (whispers to Ragini's ear)- This is another step closer to you being mine, Ragini. Look at your palm. My name is written on your palm. What does it mean? It means that you belong to me and I can treat you as bad as I wish!
Saying this, Lakshya moves back and sits on his chair again. Ragini doesn't react. After about 2 hours, Ragini's mehendi dries up and she washes it. The colour comes out too dark, much to Ragini's surprise. She thought, since Lakshya hated her, the colour must be very light but it turned out to be exactly opposite.
Swara- Woww di, look at the colour. It's so dark. That means jiju loves you a lot.
Ragini looks at Lakshya who is busy chatting with his friends on his phone. Suddenly, Swara speaks up.
Swara (announcing)- Mehendi ceremony is too common. I'm planning to do something new today. Let's play a game. What say?
JDG (angrily)- Shona!
Lakshya- Maa, it's okay. Let her speak, at least.
Lakshya (to Swara)- What game do you wanna play, Swara?
Swara- Jiju, I'll blindfold your eyes and you have to find Ragini Di with covered eyes. After that, the same shall be done to di. She'll have to find you then.
Ragini- Shona, what nonsense!
Lakshya- Ragini, what's wrong? It's just a game. Let's play it.
Swara (to Lakshya)- Thank you so much, jiju.
Swara then blindfolds Lakshya's eyes and asks him to find Ragini. Somehow, even Lakshya could feel a heavenly presence. He could see Guddi, still standing behind the tree. He forgets about Ragini for a second and follows the direction of the tree. He holds Guddi's hand and removes the blindfold. He is then shocked to see that the hand he is holding is of Ragini. He is too shocked as to how he could feel Ragini. He held a hand thinking it was of Guddi but it turned out to be that of Ragini. Ragini is in utter shock. She couldn't believe what she is seeing. Everyone starts clapping and Lakshya leaves Ragini's hand in a jerk. He looks around, embarrassed. Now it's Ragini's turn. Swara blindfolds her eyes and she could feel such a heavy presence of Lakshya that she finds him in a minute. Lakshya is absolutely stunned to see that. Swara then pushes Ragini towards Lakshya. Ragini accidently kisses Lakshya's lips, right in front of everyone. Lakshya and Ragini both are shocked. They feel embarrassed.
JDG (angrily)- Shona! How many times have I told you to act matured? There's a limit for everything.
Lakshya- Don't scold her, maa. She didn' do that intentionally. It just happened.
Swara has tears in her eyes. She looks at Lakshya and says thank you with her eyes. Lakshya nods and smiles. The Maheshwaris then leave. Ragini goes to change. After a few minutes, she goes to the terrace and and looks at her mehendi.
Ragini (to herself)- Lakshya says he hates me. Then why did this mehendi colour come out so dark? And that kiss? OMG, I kissed him! Though accidently, but I kissed him and he didn't get angry. Am I dreaming?
Swara comes and pats her shoulder.
Swara- Di, why are you here? All okay?
Ragini hugs Swara tight and she hugs her back. Tears start falling from Ragini's eyes.
Ragini- I'll miss you a lot, Shona. How will I stay without you and maa?
Swara- Di, stop crying. You're too lucky to have a husband like Lakshya jiju. He loves you so much. Look at the mehendi, di. The colour itself says how much he loves you. He won't ever make you cry. Plus, he's a great man. He not only loves you but also cares for me and maa. He respects maa so much. I wish I too get a husband like him.
Ragini wipes her tears and turns around to avoid Swara.
Ragini (in mind)- I know Shona, I know very well how much he loves me. I wish you never get a husband like him. I wish no girl gets a husband like him.
Ragini- I know that, Shona. Now let's go and sleep. It's too late and I'm tired.
Swara- Di, are you hiding something from me?
Ragini cups her face and smiles.
Ragini- No Shona, why would I?
Swara- Are you seriously happy with him? I've felt something, di. I feel like something's bothering you.
Ragini- No Shona, you're mistaken. He's the man I've loved all my life and finally, I'm getting married to him. Why wouldn't I be happy?
Swara nods. They go to their room and sleep together, hugging each other.
