Yes yes Viji I remember .Haha There you go ! so our Sanskar truly is earthly in every way. I guess the perfume simply enhances his essence. I agree Sanskar is also very much like Arjun especially his steadfastness and single mindedness in achieving his goals. I am a massive LOTR/Hobbit Fan too. I have lost count of the number of times I have watched those movies. Each and every dialogue is etched in my brain. Ever since I was introduced to Middle Earth I have never really been able to leave it. I keep revisiting it time and again. I know Crazy me.
I feel Aragon's dilemma is still relevant in today's times. He belonged to a superior race of men yet he was not immune to the vices that plague ordinary men. And in his case it was no secret how these weaknesses ran in his bloodline. Of all the members in the fellowship I could relate to him the most. Probably because he was less supernatural compared to the others.
^^^ I am in absolutely the same boat as you, Ruqu. 😊 I've seen each of those movies dozens of times. Some time ago, had done a DVD marathon of the 3 hobbit movies over a long weekend, and then the 3 LOTR movies over another long weekend. 😆
I like Aragorn's character too---like you mentioned, his insecurities, his fear of the possibility of the inherited weaknesses which ran in his bloodline, made him so relatable, so grounded, so identifiable, in a sense.
I like Legolas's character too---for the flamboyant elegance mostly. 😆 But apart from the fellowship, another character I really liked was Faramir. Again, a fundamentally good and honorable man, battling his insecurities of always being considered second best, to his elder brother Boromir. His own father Denethor shows this open partiality towards Boromir all the time. But in the end, it is Faramir who turns out to be the better human being, than either his father or his elder brother!
Viji Not you too😆. I used to have major debates with my friends over Aragon and Legolas. And I agree Legolas has this other worldly appeal oh yes great hair and piercing blue eyes. He could have done really well in a Pantene commercial. And the fact that he is immortal makes him well timeless. But my heart was always set on Aragon just like Eowyn . Alas he had pledged his life to Arwen. There was no way I could resist those deep set eyes that reflected an unspoken sadness
Oh yes Faramir was another example of a good man who strived to rise in the eyes of his unworthy father. He also underwent the test of his willpower and ultimately succeeded. Another thing that stood out was that he never resented his brother for being the favored son and shared a great bond with him.
