I always wanted ragini to realise that lakshay is not worth it
I mean she has sacrificed all her relationships for a man who has rejected her twice and was in love with her sister and frankly speaking it was not worth it
Lakshay still blames only ragini for the whole mess, he does not realise that he too played with her feelings which made her what she is now
Sanskar realises his mistakes and he knows that he played a role in making ragini what she is now and I also want him to play a major role in her redemption

Hey Akanksha...Oh Yes, I agree with you perfectly, I wanted Ragini to realize too, that Lakshya was just not worth it. Like you said, he broke his engagement with her twice, shattered her heart, and pursued her sister. Seriously, she deserved better. And this action of his, definitely pushed her along this path of obsessive, fanatical devotion to him, though of course, she has to ultimately take responsibility for her actions.

I just wanted the CVs to show how she recovers her sense of self worth, her confidence, and realizes that she doesn't need Lakshya at all. So what if he rejected her, it was his loss, not hers. What I would have loved to see was a Ragini with calm dignity and poise, giving it right back to Lakshya, even slapping him was fine. But the way they have shown her becoming the malkin of MM house is kind of too filmi. Plus, I feel a tad uneasy about zabardasti giving her a makeover at this point.

Nothing wrong in dressing modern, we all do that in our day to day lives, and I must say, Teju looks fabulous in that (as she does in traditional wear, too). But I wonder what is the message being subliminally conveyed. Are they trying to imply, only a lady who dresses modern, can be confident and assertive? And a traditionally dressed one has to be necessarily a doormat, suffering type? What my fear is, that they will show a hate phase between RagYa, and then Lakshya will start falling for Ragini because of her modern dressing and behavior...we are shown that he preferred modern girls. And I very much fear, that a few months down the line, once the RagYa hate story becomes a love story, they would suddenly show Ragini going back into a pati vrata, traditionally dressed, conservative girl mode.

It is the conflation between dressing and values which I feel doubtful about, not in Ragini being shown as confident and assertive. Am I making sense? 😆 Sorry if I went on a rant!

Wow. I really am speechless. I have been waiting for so long to read something is yours in spite of my exams. I'm sorry I took so long to comment, I wanted to finish studying before I actually got carried by your piece.

Coming to the piece. It was amazing. I loved every bit of it. If I could I would write every line but I'll stick to telling you sooner of my favourite parts.

I loved the beginning. The innocent version of Ragini of the white version. Then the transition to the cruel or rather revengeful version of her, that may be called her black side. And through the talk Ragini and Sanskar share, where the shades of grey in her character are brought out.

I read and re read the lines where you compared the love of Ragini and Sanskar. Wow. It was spot on according to me.

I also enjoyed his you give particular attention to the ambiance of the setting, specially at the very end. Last but not the least I love how your whole story revolves around music. The CVs seem to have forgotten that the swaragini sister's life used to revolve around music.

Thanks for writing. Thanks for the PM. And can't wait for the next part.

Lots of love
Sree <3

Thanks a ton Sree, for that lovely comment. 😊 Glad you liked the portrayal of Ragini here. I do feel she is a fascinating character, and she had a lot of good in her, that is probably still hidden within. I wanted to explore the layers and shades to her nature, and I'm happy you liked that.

And I really wanted to interweave music into this piece, as you said, Swaragini started with the concept of music, but that's got completely forgotten, with just the occasional random mention of a music teacher in Benares, whom Swara wants to recruit for her planned school! The ambiance in the end kind of flowed from the theme I had set for the first chapter, since Raag Yaman Kalyan is an evening Raag.

Thanks again for reading and commenting! 🤗

And I completely agreed with you about Laksh and Sanskar having their own share in what she has become now. She needs a sensible redemption to bring out the true Ragini rather than living her in the convoluted form that the show has

Thanks again, Sapna. 🤗

Thanks for the amazing comment dear...I was very humbled and touched by your feedback.

Am very glad you liked Ragini's portrayal here. I find her character very fascinating, she had a lot of good in her before, and I would think it's still there, hidden within. I wanted to explore the layers and edges in her nature. I also feel a touch of sympathy for her. 😊

Sanskaar, I think, feels a little guilty still, for having initially pushed her on this path towards her obsessive behavior, when he was a gray character earlier. Of course, he did try desperately to pull her back from the abyss, but she was too far gone down this path by then. I'm quite sure Sanskaar would want to give her a second chance to repent and redeem herself, after all, who better than Sanskaar to know the importance of an opportunity o redeem oneself.

Am working on part 2 now 😊. Hope to update by tomorrow.

Viji I guess Sanskar does owes her a chance. I too find Ragini quite fascinating. What fascinates me is her overpowering and endless love for a person as undeserving as Laksh. Why does she love him?? To me this is the biggest mystery. The irony is that out of all people, an innocent girl like Ragini got afflicted with such a toxic and unhealthy form of love and in the process of this meaningless pursuit, she lost herself and her identity.

Once again, I just want to say, what an absolute privilege and pleasure it is for me, to get such comments from you. I mean that, from the bottom of my heart. Each time you read and comment on what I've written, I feel so incredibly moved--I am touched and humbled at the same time, by your very generous words.

Am so very glad you liked my portrayal of the different shades of love, in a sense. You put it so well, love can bring out both the best, as well as the worst in onself, depending upon the type of love you feel, and for whom.

Sanskaar's love for Swara elevated him, brought him out of that dark cavern of hate and bitterness in which he buried himself after Kavita's demise. But Ragini's love for Lakshya, an obsessive, fanatical pursuit, has blinded her, robbed her of her inherent goodness, and made her what she is today. Am very happy that you liked this contrast which I tried to show.

The song by Begum Abida Parveen which you quoted, was so amazing. I just love how you recall and weave in poetry and verse with your comments. You have the soul of a poet, please do enrich us soon with your poetry, on SwaSan or anything else you choose to write on.

Thanks again for this amazing comment which really made my day. 🤗

Can you please write a book? Like a book that I can go to a bookshop and buy and make it a part of my collection? We really have a dearth of fabulous Indian writers and you need to publish to make us Indians proud. Please. Believe me, I will help you promote it whenever you take this seriously. Like seriously! 😳

Let me start with the title, Music of the Soul: Agony and the Ecstasy. What a beautiful title. Love it! You always have me an awe with the titles of your FFs! So here goes the first round of applause. 👏 👏

I loved how you showed the difference in the way of love that Sanskaar has for Swara and Ragini has for Laksh. It was well described! 👏 👏

I will not detail this response, but I loved the beautiful interaction between Sanskaar and Ragini. Oh Viji, I wish I can tell you how much I want Sanskaar and Ragini to interact - like enemies or friends - just interact. Sanskaar started this journey of revenge and involved Ragini in it but I always feel that not Swara, not Laksh but only Sanskaar can be the one who can help Ragini in her path to redemption. I love how this whole first part is Sanskaar and Ragini centric. These are my two favorite characters in the show and I love them the most here too. Sanskaar and Ragini's conversation, I read it twice because it was so brilliant. 👏 👏 Ragini is a complicated character and you have portrayed her so well. I wish her redemption was as beautiful as you have portrayed. 😳

The whole theme of the TS, the theme of Raag Yaman Kalyan. I remember my Grandfather talk about this raag ( he was a great singer!) and I saw it fit for the first part. I liked how Ragini looked at the three people who probably mean the most to her. Laksh - her first love, Swara - her beloved sister and Sanskaar - her best friend. Her sudden desire to not want to harm either of these people was beautifully portrayed. Loved it!

Cannot wait for Part 2!

Cheers!

Anna

P.S : Do you have training in classical music? The knowledge of Raaga's as I have understood from my grandfather is very hard to retain. I have learnt a few Raagas from him and I have heard him sing Raaga Todi and Raaga Bhairav personally, so I am definitely waiting for the next one.

Anna...Thanks yaar. I am still on a high after reading your comment. It really made my day, am so very glad you liked this so much. 🤗

Am really happy that you liked the delineation between the love Sanskaar feels for Swara; and what Ragini feels for Lakshya. I wanted to bring out that contrast here, how this powerful emotion we call Love, has the capacity to either bring out the very finest in a person, or the very worst; depending on who feels it, and for whom. Sanskaar's love for Swara elevated him, out of that morass of anger and bitterness and pain; Ragini's obsessive fixation of Lakshya has driven her to the dark side.

I agree with you completely, Sanskaar and Ragini are the most fascinating characters on the show. Perhaps its because they combine light with darkness, good with bad. We are all like that after all, shades of grey. 😉 (Though Sanskaar is the most adorable, admirable, imperfectly perfect grey character I have ever watched 😳).

The Sanskaar--Ragini frenemy bond is really of interest to me too, and I do think that Sanskaar will give her a chance to repent, and redeem herself. After all, who better than him to realize, the importance of a chance to reform oneself?

I'm sure, he still feels guilty for giving her that initial push which sent her down this path. He tried his very best to dissuade her, of course, but probably that time it was a little too late. I really feel he's going to give her another opportunity in the show, as well.

On the music aspect: Yeah, I've learned the violin for about 6 years, till I stopped formal training while preparing for the 12th boards. But I do practice off and on still. Am rusty now, though. 😊 I wanted to interweave the theme of music into this, as when Swaragini started, it had a lot of connection to music. But now we don't really get to see too much of that, except a stray reference to visiting Benares to recruit a music teacher! 😆

Am working on chapter 2 as fast as I can, Anna. Was planning to have it up today morning actually, but work is tight, so might take more time. Will PM you of course, the moment it's up.
