Yes you are Right ...
Vrishketu is mentioned in bhishma parv
Here's the link
He did took part in war here is the link---
-------------------------------------------------
Vrishaketu was never mentioned in Bheeshma parv.
No sloka proved it.
But you can feel relieved taking Jaimini as your source.

BORI never had Vrishaketu anywhere.

It quoted kmg and thanks for being so rude ...

There are so many versions of Mahabharata English translations that now history is changed

If you don't believe that vrishketu existed

Then there's no point in arguing

I have only read Karna parv sabha parv and swargrohinika parv
of kmg ganguly one

And thus not ever read Bori version more over I believe the Sanskrit version is not posted on Google so nobody knows the truth
Bori has its own version
Kmg its own

But where the real essence ...

If you do have link of Sanskrit version feel free to share

Chill guys...😊
Let's discuss n then come to a conclusion...😊

I too believed that Vrishaketu doesnt exist as he is not mentioned in KMG n BORI. However last night, I came to know that Vrishketu IS mentioned in KMG in Bhishma Parva...but probably not in BORI.

Now coming to the Sanskrit shloka which Lakshmi provided...
She clarified by saying that there is a mistranslation...Vrishabhena is 'bullock on standard' n Angapati is Karna himself...

However I got a second doubt. What was Karna doing in the battle in Bhishma Parva?

Hi Jyotsna,
Replying to ur scrap n PM here itself...😊
'Blast from past'!! Not at all...😆
I have commented on many people's answers where I have seen glaring factual errors n yours may have been one of them...I guess that is wat Quora is for...For sharing knowledge n correcting wat is wrong...Right?
And usually my comments are in accordance with the answer...😉

Nonetheless...I got a question about Vrishaketu yesterday...n while answering I found out he is mentioned in KMG in Bhishma Parva. I had included wat Lakshmi had translated in Sanskrit...but I got a doubt. And hence wanted to clear it.

I dont like to answer about topics about which I dont know enough...and wen I realize my mistake, I immediately go back n edit my answer with correct facts...😛 Hence I am bothering Lakshmi so much today...

Lakshmi is knowledgeable about Sanskrit. If she can clarify, I'll edit the answer again. People who read Quora should not be misled by half-learned answers...😉

Amrita As per the Epic Bheeshma did not prevent Karna from entering the war.
Karna himself pledged that he would fight only after Bheeshma's fall.If you want I will provide the slokas. Here Karna was mentioned in connection of the army which is under his protection.
It doesn't mean that he should not even step into Kurukshetra since he took the pledge.
He can come and entrust the army or instruct them some thing
Moreover this present part is the prelude to Bhagawat Gita.
So Sanjaya describes the whole scenario the army on both sides and all.
In BORI it is mentioned as Bhagawat Gita Parv.
Karna's movements are not restricted by anyone. As it happens to be the first day
There is nothing wrong in Karna being present there.

It can be taken in another way the army which was protected by Karna Kripa. Like that.

As I earlier said every one is entitled to take it in their own way.
I won't argue on this anymore.
If Angapatina is taken as Vrishaketu I won't bother.
I bothered only because BORI is referred here.
As I always told I am an admirer of Sukthankar and his Critical Edition.
Vrishaketu was not mentioned there. That's all I can say.

Thanks for clarifying Lakshmi.
Yes...that makes sense. Maybe in this section, the narrator is describing who all are prepared for war. I'll read that part again.
Sorry for asking too many questions.
I like to clarify things while writing answers on Quora...😉
I know it is a wasted effort...but somehow I take it seriously...😆 n try to be as honest as I can be with my limited knowledge.

Anyway...enough of Vrishaketu...😆
Any serious discussion on the epic turns out to be depressing...😭

Let's get back to discussing Sonyputra Karna...
Today, the show is ending. So, let's enjoy n make fun one last time...😊
