@amrita - AFAIK, Seeta did not enter fire as per the version MB Vana Parva has and in Valmiki Ramayana, she entered fire and Agni deva appears holding her. This was before Rama returning Ayodhya after killing Ravana. When Rama sees Seetha he tells her that he came Lanka and killed Ravana only to show the world he had been a dutiful husband and now she was free to choose even a monkey or rakshasa as her husband for Rama did not want her anymore as she had spent pretty good time in Lanka. To this, Seetha gives a taunting and mocking reply, asks Lakshmana to prepare a pyre and jumps in. But there are practical difficulties to believe this.(a tiresome task to type that right now) So I consider this jumping in fire was a finding of later male chauvinists who did not want to believe Rama accepted Seetha as she was.

Ram did not want Sita any more?
He said that himself? Is it in Valmiki's Ramayan?

Oh no...Ram is my most favourite male character in Indian mythology after Lord Shiva and Lord Krishna... 😭
If that is an interpolation then fine but otherwise this is really 😭

Will people throw chappals at me if I point this out in Siya Ke Ram forum...No...just asking.
Since there are more believers there than thinkers... 😆

Now I am reconsidering whether I should take refuge in Ramayan or not... 😆

Amrita, it is a part of VR. There is one full chapter of Rama's rant in Yuddha Kanda. Who will throw chappals at you? All know this. Ramayana is available online to read like KMG. You can quote it and post. To me, this Rama ranting appears to be an interpolation. Reasons I shall post later. Lazy now.😆

People like us...who are reading to learn n discuss...we will understand it is a folktale.
But people who read just for fun will believe this to be the gospel truth without reading the footnote n start arguing with the ones who are knowledeable...I have seen many such examples on Facebook n Quora... 😭

di, do u go to tht bakwas place? i don't think there're any person who even opened the epic. just blabber and copy paste. tht's it. by searching for at least half an hour, i got ONLY ONE convincing answer😆 and it seemed, yes, this person not only opened the epic, but also researched correctly.

And don't think Ramayana is any safe. There are people - not me, of course - who love Ravana more and believe Seetha had some "dhink chinka" with him.😉. So go warned that you are stepping into burning gas stove from frying pan.😆
And yeah, we had a show on MB in which Karna rocked more than others, another one on Karna where Arjuna is rocking, now one on Rama where Lakshmana is the eye-catcher. I stopped watching it after seeing a sleepy Sree Rama. I love Rama very much. So cannot tolerate such a portrayal. (No offence intended)

Bold- Seriously 😆

i rather believe in the theory that Sita was Raavan's daughter that is part of some versions as well

Devdutt Pattnaiks' books are not actual epic.If people think that by reading his books they will fully know Mahabharat and Ramayana then they are wrong. His books are just interpretation of the epics which has various stories from different versions and plays. And its always good to know what other versions or related stories are there.

I actual liked Sita more than Jaya .They way he has interpreted Sita's character changed my view of Sita. There are also many other Ramayana related stories that he has told which i never knew earlier. So its always good to know which other stories exist as well.

Laxman line is in Valmiki's Ramayana as well as far as i remember

But i dont blame Ram here since its clearly mentioned in the epic that he just did this to prove to the world that she was chaste not because he doubted her
