wow, i loved it...the whole team hanging out together instead of only doing work is always nice to see! Next Day…. Late afternoon…..

The door bell rang sound and clear….😊

There was a small shout of "I see"…. A scraping of stool and the door opened…. Peeping through the small opening through the door Sri squealed and jumped down from the stool….😛

She immediately opened the door and welcomed him in as Aryan swept her off her feet lifting her….

Dipika: Koun hai Sri? ❓

Aryan turned to the sound and saw Dipika lying down on the floor reading a book… She glanced behind at him upside down and seeing it was Aryan immediately sat up…..

Aryan: Oh sorry…. Main… 😳

He let Sri down who went off to clear the scrabble blocks she and Dipika had been playing…. And then Sri had wanted to listen to a story! The usual time pass of both of them….. Dipika would lie down on her back reading a book and Sri would lie down opposite to her, on a pillow listening to her as Dipika looked at her upside down… ⭐️

Dipika: (Getting up) Aryan! Hi! Sorry kehene ki kya baat hai? We were just lazing around….. Mumbai me late summer afternoon aur kar bhi kya sakte hain… Come in… Lekin is waqt? Office nahi gaye?

Aryan: (Coming in and sitting down) Gaya! Subah…. Ab permission daalke aaya tha…. Jewellary shopping kaise thi subah?

Dipika: (Taking out the water bottle from the refrigerator) We didn't go… Ajay ki mummy ne kaha aaj achcha din nahi hai mangalsutra khareedne ke liye…. Isliye kal jaa rahe hain…. Vo aaj Pandit ji se milne gaye hain…. Shaadi ke pehle ki pooja ke liye muhurat nikaalne gaye hain!

She gave him the bottle and tied up her free hair…. She didn't ask him again as to what he was doing here… She had left asking that question long back…. Because she knew he would come up some excuse or the other…. It had become his routine now…. 👍🏼

Sri came back and flopped down beside him taking his hand….

Aryan: (Giving back the bottle) Er…. By the way…. If you are free… Shall we go out… (Hastily) With Sri? 😃

Dipika: (Ignoring his haste asked surprised😉) Abhi? Lekin humne aaj koi plans nahi banaya tha naa?

Aryan: Haan… Vo… Actually… Aaj Mumbai me ek circus group aaya hai…. To I thought Sri would like….

Dipika: (More surprised) Circus?!?! 🤔

Sri: (Exclaiming) Circus!!! (Going over to Dipika and pulling her hand) Mamma! Mamma! Please…. Chalo naa… Maine aaj tak circus hi nahi dekha hai… Pune me nahi aata hai… Mere friends sab gaye hain… Pleeje….

Dipika: (Rolling her eyes) Achcha baba…. Maine mana thode kiya hai…. Chalenge…. Theek?

Sri: (Hugging her around her waist) Thankuuuu Mamma! (Pulling her's and Aryan's hand immediately) Chalo!

Both of them smiled seeing Sri's enthusiasm….

Dipika: Ek minute… Ek minute... Ready nahi hona kya? (Indicating Sri's dress) Aise hi jayenge? (To Aryan) Er… Kitne baje?

Aryan: Paanch baje ka show hai…. (Showing her the tickets) I have got the tickets… So we can go in directly!

Dipika looked at him suppressing her smile to her best and thought…. He really cared about what he had said to Sri about showing her Mumbai…. And he selected areas which would interest her in every way…. Not monuments and all! 😳

Dipika: Chalo Sri… Ready hote hain!

Sri jumped up and hopped upstairs…. Dipika first went to kitchen to make Aryan come tea and serving him left to change!

Half an hour later…. Both were ready…. Seeing Sri Aryan smiled… Because she was wearing the dress he had gifted her…. She was looking really cute in it….

As usual Dipika looked awesome in her simple attire….

Dipika: (Smiling a little) Chalein?

Aryan nodded and got up and they left the house….

All three of them left the house with Sri in between Aryan and Dipika clutching one hand of Aryan's and one hand of Dipika's…. Swinging between their hands while walking to Aryan's car parked outside!

With Sri as reason Aryan had frequented Dipika's home… And they had come closer and closer and closer… Seems there was nothing more to come closer….. Any differences, fears, distances they might have had in the past didn't creep even for a second between them… Somehow they felt them drawing closer and closer to each other with each passing day… The reason they talked to each other was Sri… But when she was engrossed in her games and tiny tot world they had to talk to each other… And they did…. They talked all about the past pleasant memories…. About everything except office…. Just like… Just like?!?! 😉

Just like a perfect couple would… And in these few days of outing, both found that they had many interests in common…. In food, in Sri, in liking long drives, in Sri, in liking road side eateries of chat, in Sri… Sri found herself in their conversation every now and then!

Also Aryan came to knew that Dipika liked to ride bike… Not like ride bike exactly…. But liked sitting behind and going for a long ride with her hair flying lose behind in the air… She had done that during college days it seems… But there was a long gap between then and now! ❤️

The music was blaring and hence no one heard the cell phone ring or Sandhya who was shouting to stop the music…

Sandhya: Stop! Stop! (Shouting to get herself heard) STOP! 😲

Finally hearing her Dipika stopped the music player and asked….

Dipika: Kya…

But she stopped speaking when she heard the cell ring… Everyone looked around a little confused wondering whose cell it was just as Dipika jumped down from the table exclaiming….

Dipika: Mera hi phone hai!!! (Running over to pick it from her bag) Hello!

Sandhya turned to her group and told them about the step they had been doing wrong….

Dipika: Oh! Hi!

Dipika: Are yaar… Music baj raha tha to kuch sunayi nahi di! Sandhya aur uske friends practice kar rahe the!

……………….

Dipika: Maine kaha naa Vishal… Main yahan Rocker's dance academy me hoon… Neha ki sangeet practice chal rahi hai….

Dipika: Haan…. Concert to nahi kar rahe! Lekin kuch to practice ke liye jagah honi chahiye naa?

Dipika: Ah ha ha ha ha…. Jo hai vo sangeet ke liye hai… And we don't compromise…. Tumhe kya? 😳

Dipika: (Looking at her watch) Haan saath baje!

Dipika: Abhi? Vishal! It's only six…. Abhi ek aur practice session hai….

Dipika: Dekho… Aana hai to aao…. Warna main taxi le loongi! I didn't tell you to…

Dipika: Hmm…. Better be that way! Sharp seven…. No delay!

Dipika: Bye!

She turned around and saw that they were all taking a break…. She went over to Sandhya who was standing by the window humming and going through the steps in her mind….

Dipika: Sandhya! Vishal is coming at seven!

Sandhya looked at Dipika who was smiling knowingly.…

Sandhya: (Skeptical🤔) You think it will work…. Kaheen Vishal ko shak ho gaya to?

Dipika: Kaise shak hoga? You will be learning each part of your dance per day…

Sandhya: But he can't learn like this….

Dipika: (Determined) He can learn in two days…. Sandhya! He is a fast learner…. Aur college dinon ka best dancer tha vo! There will be no problem…

They looked back hearing a call "Di"… It was Aadhya who was also taking part in the sangeet celebration….

Aadhya: Ye gaana to aadha choreograph ho chukka hai…. Lekin humara gaana?

Sandhya's friend: (Going over to her) Aadhya…. Abhi time hai… Lekin you are right…. (To Sandhya) Sandhya…. Aaj is gaane ki preparation kaafi hai… Tum log apne group ke gaane par shuruaat karo….😊

Dipika: She's right… Chalo… Cynthia… Purvi! Come on….

Cynthia and Purvi who had been waiting and watching to begin their song preparation came to the center enthusiastically, as Dipika switched songs…. They all heard the song again and again and discussed steps to put in…. Everyone's suggestion was good and found place in the dance!

It was their first day of sangeet rehearsal…. Dipika, Sandhya, Aadhya, Cynthia, Purvi all came at four to Rocker's dance academy…. Where Sandhya learnt dance during her weekends….. The dance academy troop was on a world tour so the academy was free…. And Sandhya was given permission to use it for the sangeet practice….. They could have practiced in any house… But they needed privacy and space… And practicing with a large group was difficult in homes! 😛

Also Sandhya had collected her friends who were also interested in dancing… They never said no to dancing… Be it a stage performance or marriage… And for marriage it was more fun….

They had decided to exclude Neha because they wanted this to be a complete surprise for her… And she had obliged…. Marriage full of surprises was a great memorable in future!

Night Seven….

Dipika: I am tired…. Ek hi dance ke liye… Lekin Sandhya manana padega…. You have practiced for so many songs!🥱

Sandhya: (Drinking water) Plain practice Dipika…. Also I have got used to dancing…. Isliye bahut takleef nahi hui….

Sandhya's Friend: Chalo phir Sandhya…. Hum nikalte hain… Der ho rahi hai… Bye! See you tomorrow! Bye Dipika!

Sandhya thanked her friends and saw them off… Even Cynthia and Purvi bade them bye and left….

Dipika: Koun sikhane waala hai dance?

Sandhya: (Inserting a disc in the VCD player) No one specifically…. Maine yahan ek instructor se kehke gaane ko choreograph karne ko kaha tha….

Dipika: (Surprised) Oh! I thought every one had gone for that tour! 🤔

Sandhya: Nahi… The academy will be open…. Junior dancers hain naa… There will be classes till afternoon… Usually senior classes hoti hai evening…. Since they have gone for the tour it is free now… Isliye do intructors hain abhi bhi yahan… They'll join in the next tour!

Dipika: Achca….

Dipika looked towards the door as she heard a sound and saw a young man of about twenty five years come in….

Man: Hi Sandhya!

Sandhya: (Going over to greet him🤗) Hi Sam! Sam this is Dipika… Dipika this is Sam…. Joined dance academy last year…. But a really talented dancer…. He will be helping me learn the steps and practice the song!

Dipika: (Shaking hands) Hi!

Sam: Isliye to confused hoon… Why I to help you in this dance?

Sandhya: Sam maine kaha naa… Actual performance main kisi aur ke saath dene waali hoon…. You have to just help me get the steps right… Ye dance hai hi aisa ki akele practice bhi nahi kiya jaa sakta….

Sam: David master ne kaha tha… Lekin…

Sandhya: No lekin vekin…. Unhone aur Vrinda ne dance ko tape kiya hai… We have to watch it, learn it…. At least you have to help me learnt it!

Sam: (Removing his shoes) Agar apne asli partner ke saath practice karti to koi problem nahi hoga naa performance ke waqt…. Do I have to tell you? (Jovially) Senior! 😃

Sandhya: (Slapping him on his shoulder) Agar aisa ho sakta hai to main tumhe disturb karti? You helping me or not?!?!

Sam: (Straightening) Alright! Alright! Chalo…

Sandhya: (Switching on the projector) First we watch… By the way hum ek din ek para, us tarah practice karenge… And we have five days from today!

Sam: (Looking at the dance video on the opposite wall) What!?!? This dance within five days!??! You are joking…. Isme…

Sandhya: (Pulling him down to sit with her) Just watch…. Aur dance main karne waali hoon… Tum nahi.... Waise bhi someone else has to learn it in two days! 😉

Sam looked at her bewildered at such a prospect….. Learning this dance in two days?!!? That person really must be a pool of talent to do so…. Seeing him look at her with a shocked expression Sandhya forcefully turned his face to watch the video…. 😲

Dipika: (Taking her bag) Sandhya… I'll wait outside!

Sandhya looked at her smiling and nodded and went back to watch the video….

They watched the full video twice…. Then started on part by part, watching it and playing it back and forth to learn it…. Separately both tried out their steps to get a hang of the movements…. Then they practiced the steps together without the song…. And then with the song!

Dipika stood outside the glass hall and watched Sandhya and Sam practice the first step of the song… First one was simple…. Not much of a difficult step…. The intensity and fell of the song seemed mostly to be based on the expressions the dancers give!

Just then she felt a tap on her shoulder and turned around to find that it was Vishal…

Dipika: Hi! 😊

Vishal: (Glancing in at Sandhya and Sam😳) Chalein?

Dipika: (Turning to look back in) Wait karo naa… Sandhya ko bhi aane do!

Vishal: (Puzzled) Kyun?!?! Use bhi chodna hai?

Dipika: (Indignantly) Vishal! You don't expect me to leave her alone here at this time of the night! Alone that too!

Vishal: Dipika! It's only seven fifteen… Phir bhi she's not a kid… Kitne din hospital se der se aayi hogi…

Dipika: (Turning around to face him) Vo hospital hai… Ye dance academy…. Abhi practice khatam ho jayegi… Then we'll leave together…. (Seeing Vishal's expression) No… Lift dene ki zaroorat nahi hai… Apni gaadi laayi hai vo! I just don't want to leave her here alone! Anything could happen….

Vishal: (Sternly) Nothing will happen…. (Shaking his head) Phir practice jaldi shuru karke jaldi khatam kar dete… (Irritated😡) Making people wait!

Dipika: Oh ho Vishal! She has to see other's convenience also…. Khud to humari help kar rahi hai Neha ke marriage ko successful banana ke liye…. At least we could do waiting for her… Waise bhi we were practicing till now… This is her special performance!

Vishal: Whatever! Main bahar gaadi me wait karta hoon…. Tum….

Dipika: (Hastily catching his hand and making him sit beside her on the chairs outside) Vishal! Mujhe company do naa…. Nice dancing…. Tumhe bhi dance pasand hai naa?

Saying Dipika started again to watch the dance…. Vishal had no choice but to wait and watch the dance with her…

They couldn't hear the music from outside but they did know it was a very beautiful song…. The steps choreographed also were very romantic even without music!

He enjoyed the practice session even though not wanting to! ☺️

Sandhya was a perfectionist and concentrated in even the minutest detail of the song…. She repeated the steps until she got a proper hang of it! She was a pleasure to watch during dance, he had seen…. But even during practice…. He was seeing now! 😳

Dipika smiled as some argument had cropped between her and Sam and she had gone chasing him inside the dance hall… And finally she caught him and made him do the step for which he must have joked about…. She casually glanced towards Vishal and smiled seeing the concentrated expression on his face…. There was some strange expression on his face… An expression of pride or happiness…. But both in what sense she couldn't place! She turned back to watch the practice before he found her looking at him… 😕

Sandhya was immersed in her performance…. Nothing in and out distracted her…. She didn't even notice the people sitting outside watching them…. Her focus was only on the dance…. ⭐️

Half an hour later….

Sandhya: (Opening the door) Thanks Sam! I think I can easily learn it…. If only you would be a little serious about helping me learn it…. Kal milte hain!

Sam: (Grinning) Yes bossy… Bye! 😃

Saying Sam left nodding to Dipika!

Sandhya: (Surprised😛) Oh! Vishaaaaaaaaallllllll!!!!!!! Yahan kya kar rahe ho? Mujhe dance karte dekhne aaye!?

Vishal: (Not interested) Dance tha vo!?!? Shayad ho bhi… Main yahan Dipika ko pick karne aaya tha…. (To Dipika) Ab chalein?

Dipika: (Nodding) Chalo… Chalein Sandhya?

Sandhya also nodded as an irritated Vishal left the academy…. She looked at Dipika and winked and left the academy with her… Sandhya stopped just to inform the watchman of the academy…

Dipika: (Walking to Sandhya's car) Seems our plan might work…. He was watching it very intensely…. Liked it from his expression…. But was trying to hide it! 😊

Sandhya: Then it should be fine…. Kyunki mujhe khud tough laga kuch steps…. But it mostly depends on the person who handles it… Let's see!

There was a loud honking and Dipika turned to see that Vishal was at the gate indicating her to come fast…

Dipika: (Looking back at Sandhya) Bye! Warna poore mohalle ko disturb kar dega… Good night!

Sandhya: Good night!

They gave each other a hug and Dipika ran across to the academy entrance…. She waved to Sandhya who waved back and walked to her car parked inside the academy…

Putting on the gear fast….

Dipika: Vishal! Gear todne ka irada hai kya? (Really exasperated) Kiska gussa kis par nikaal rahe ho?

Vishal: (Through teeth gritting😳) Kisi par bhi nahi….

Dipika: (Softly) Wait karane ke liye gussa ho? Achcha baba…. Kal se tum mat aana… Main khud chali jaoongi… Ya phir Sandhya se kehke lift…

Vishal: (Interrupting sternly) No need! Jab tak main hoon doosron se help maangane ki koi zaroorat nahi hai! Jab tak tumhari gaadi service se wapas nahi aa jaati… Main tumhe aake pick kar liya karoonga…. I don't mind waiting!

Dipika: (Smiling) Phir itna gussa kyun? Mujhe aise gusse driver ke saath nahi aana…. Roko gaadi… Main yaheen se taxi le loongi!

Vishal: Achcha baba! (Looking at her pasting a smile on his face) Gussa nahi kar raha…. Theek?

Dipika: Nai! Is tarah nahi…. This is not your usual smile…. Tum ab bhi gussa ho… Gaadi…

Vishal: Fine! (Genuinely smiling said in his usual tone) Gussa nahi kar raha…

Dipika: Pata nahi ki ussse baat tak karne par tumhe itni irritation kyun ho rahi hai? (More to herself) Shayad isliye ki tum (Stressing) ussse khul ke baat nahi kar paa rahe?!?!

Vishal: (Glancing at her suddenly) Kya kaha tumne? 😈

Dipika: (Sheepishly) Nai to… Main kahan kuch kehene waali…. Bas kuch soch rahi thi!

Vishal looked at her suspiciously and turned back to concentrate on the driving…. Dipika glanced at him and looking back outside the door thought about his apprehension… He didn't have any fear to keep far away from Sandhya…. But then what was stopping him? He liked her one moment… But to stop himself from been attracted towards her, the next moment he fought with her on purpose for no specific reason…. Just for sake!

Dipika smiled thinking that both cousins were same in this case!

Coming out from her thoughts she dialed home….

Dipika: Hello…

Dipika: Haan Maa…. Khatam ho gaya…. I am on the way! Sri ne khaana khaya?

………………

Dipika: Lekin maa… Mere aane tak der ho jayegi…. Ussse kahiye ki khaake so jaaye…. Yaad dilaayiye ki kal hum zoo jaa rahe hain….. Jaldi khaake so jayegi….

………………

Dipika: (Glancing at Vishal) Haan maa… Hai!

………………

Dipika: Theek hai! I'll be there within… (Looking out and at her watch) within half an hour!

………………

Dipika cut the call and said….

Dipika: Maa ne tumhe dinner ke liye rukne ko kaha hai!

Vishal: Aunty ne kaha hai to rukna padega… Lekin maa ghar pe intezaar karti hogi…

Dipika: (Smiling) No way…. Aunty ji bhi ghar me hain… She came there in the evening….. She wanted to meet mom!

Vishal: (Stunned) Ye kab hua? Maa ne to kuch nahi kaha! Ki jaa rahein hain…. Jayengi….. (Shaking his head) Ladies! 😲

Dipika: (Chuckling) Aunty ji ko jab pata chala ki maa aaj aa rahi hain, tabhi do din pehle hi plan bana li thi…. Sri was so happy to see mom….. Excited as if she was away for months….

Vishal: Aur tum?

Dipika: Kaisa sawaal hai Vishal? I am (Stressing) seeing her after months been busy with work…. Din bhar maa beti baatein hi karti rahi…. (Laughing😆) Sri got bored after a while and together we had a good time in the morning!

Vishal: (Smiling) That's nice… Mujhe bhi aunty se milna hai… Ages ago I came to Pune with you!

Dipika: Aaj dekh lena… Baat kar lena… (Suddenly said hastily) Vishal! Roko! Roko! Gaadi roko!

Vishal: (Braking halt) Are baba… Main to ab gussa nahi hoon naa, phir gaadi kyun rokne ko kaha?

Dipika: Tch… (Getting down from the car) Park in the side… I'll be back!

Surprised Vishal watched and saw her entering a sweets shop…. Smiling he guided his car to park few feet before the shop….

Dipika went to the shop and purchased all the favorite sweets of everyone who was attending today's dinner…. Her mom, Sri, Vishal, Vishal's mother… And of course for herself too!

While paying the bill her eyes fell on the gulab jamuns…. Instantly she was reminded of Aryan… He loved jamuns and immediately wished he was there too to join them in dinner! 😳

She smiled thinking of this prospect… As a last minute decision she bought the jamuns…. Even Sri liked jamuns but not more than rasgullas! Maybe she could have it!

Seeing her loaded with packets Vishal asked in shock as Dipika closed the car door shut!

Vishal: Baap re! Itneee saare sweets…. Dukaan kholne ka irada hai kya?

Dipika: Tch Vishal… It's everyone favorites…. (Looking into the bag) Yours, aunty's, mom's, Sri's, mine's and A….

She paused saying anything further and tried covering up….

Vishal: (Grabbing the packet and looking in😈) Jamun?? Hum sab me jamun itna to kisi ko pasand nahi… (As if remembering🤔) Ah…. Arrrrrruuu ko jamun pasand hai! (Looking at her meaningfully)

Dipika: (Grabbing back the packet) Ye sirf extra hai…. Baad me use karne ke liye!

Vishal: Achchaaaaaaa?!?! 😉

Dipika: Haan…. (Hitting him) Ab chalo bhi… Sri wait kar rahi hogi!

Vishal smiled and started the car! 😊
