Today Luv-Kush asked the question that is asked generation after generation. After sacrificing an innocent wife who has shared his joys and sorrows how can Ram be a good human, how can he be a good king. What is the justice of Raghuvansh, what is the maryada of Raghuvansh. We will not stay another second in the place woman is not respected. They will ask their guru why Rajaram is called Maryadapurushottam, he has no maryada.
The only thing that came into my mind when Luv-Kush was questioning Ram and Kausalya's face listening to the insults 2 kids are throwing on her son was surpi's dialogue " Bhaiyya I knew you will bring justice for me". Justice stands at the door of Ayodhya. For Shanta, For Kausalya, for Taramati and thousands of woman who were made dispensable by patriarchy and the so called Raghukul ki Maryada.
Why Ram had to face such a question. A man who in his privacy breaks down calling himself a failed husband and failed father telling to Sita's murthy he doesn't have any answer to the kids question and neither will she have any answer to their question is heaped insults calling him an insufficient ruler. Ram who crossed the ocean for liberating his love, Ram who is always filled with love, Ram who has not even hurt one single woman knowingly and in his own way have tried giving justice to them is called heartless. He gave liberation to Ahalya. He didn't insult Tara or Ruma. He respected Mandodari and Kaikasi. He bowed in front of Kaikeyi, loved both his mothers Kausalya and Sumitra. Loved his sister Shanta and loved his wife Sita like anything. He is called a man who is against woman. Centuries later also this question hangs over his head. A man who send his pregnant wife to forest listening to a dhobi.
Why the world doesn't ask the question to satyavadi Harischandra who sold his wife Taramati and son Rohith. Why the world doesn't ask this question to Dasrath who married thrice to get a son, who send away his daughter to lure a Rishi. And then she is seen as maryada ki murthi, while the kulvadhu who has come married into that family the right way, who has followed her patni dharma to the dictum becomes impure. Why the question to Ram.
Reason patriarchy loves Harishchandra and Dasrath . They can relate to these kings hypocrite behavior. What they cannot relate to is Ram. He is a threat to them. As they do not have answers to his actions. They feel uneasy as Ram exposes the so called maryada of patriarchy society. Ram who send away the wife who gave AP. They would have loved if Sita stayed in Ayodhya, heard the rumours and then she herself decides to go away. They would have also loved if Ram made her stay there. Kids are born. They hear the society calling their mother impure and they also discard her calling her impure. But Ram messed up all those plans. His one action ended up vindicating his wife forever. His kids questioning the society, him who represents that society.
And I feel SKR by answering Luv-Kush's question why Ram is maryadapurushottam will answer the audience like me also who had wanted the answers for ages.
