This show tends to make us dislike Ram and Sita's characters at times, and that's not good at all.
Ram and Sita were ideal characters, but so were the others. Lakshman and Bharat were ideal brothers, and we cannot forget Shatrughan either. He took care of Ayodhya while his brothers were both busy serving Ram in their own way. Urmila suppressed her own sorrow and took care of Kaushalya and Sumitra, and Mandavi and Shrutakirti too must have had a hand in keeping the family together.
We cannot compare Sita and Urmila. Both were great in their own right. Yes, Urmila was separated from her husband for 14 years compared to Sita's one year, but Sita was in greater danger, so while even Lakshman missed his wife, he didn't have to worry for her safety like Ram did. Also, Lakshman and Urmila got their happy ending, but Ram and Sita were eternally separated. So we cannot compare their greatness and sacrifices. Ramayan is about Ram and Sita, so it will concentrate on their greatness more, but at the same time, it doesn't make the others any less.
After all, Ram's brothers and Sita's sisters were an image of them. How can they be portrayed as weaker/foolish? It doesn't make sense.
