One can interpret ramayan in various ways. In fact, if someone tries to research about the ramayan events, various diversions can be seen. I for once read that ram and sita were sent to jungle at the age of 22 or 23 years and they happily lived their marital life before that for the 12 years. it means ram would have been married at the age of 11-12 something 😲...it cannot be said that young gen will feel bored if original valmiki ramayan is portrated as it is. because there is nothin origninal. All what we have today are various works and these works simply represent the mindset of every author. The key is to present the ideas and values and they have to be shown as it is. As far as SKR has been till now, I believe it is doin a wonderful job in terms of depiction of values and ideas. Creative liberties are always allowed to some extent. Agree dat various conversatns that were showed between siya ram would not hv even happened considering that era. But, what we r getting as a result of these conversatns and all d interactions shown among al d couples is the connection that they r feeling. it will become easier for the viewer to understand the pain and turmoil that ram and sita will go thru once dey r separated. Till now, we only know dat lakshman went with siyaram to jungle. But, the feel and effect of such decsn on both laksman and urmila will only be understood coz we wud hav already scene their chemistry built-up by then. Moreover, mithila and rajrishi janak are appropriately highlighted in the show. It actually makes me understand the connectn of sita with the BHOOMI. How al mithila love its bhumija and how great rajrishi janak was. All this wud not hv been possible had the makers not decided to show the situation from sita side.Regarding the love stories, i dont think it is OTT. They are sweet, cute and subtle. They r buildiing a strong platform for all the incidences that are going to happen and how this impact them as indiviiduals.Agree d show is bit modernised. But, I have liked ramanad sagar's ramayan and i am equally enjoyig SKR coz there is no criteria to decide what might have actually happened in that era. All the versions are interpretations of human mind.

I follow devlok on epic, where DP said that there are no archeological evidences to prove that Ramayana or Mahabharata ever happened in reality.. Its just that the epics were narrated orally to people and the tradition continues in written interpretations too.Is this true?

Been a silent member of this forum since long but this post compelled me to post here.
Varaali might be knowing me because we both have been on Mahabharat Forums.
I have learned Sanskrit for three years and have read Bhagvad Gita for 17 times and that just leaves me astounded that someone could give you a message which would hold to be correct for every single generation and every single situation. I don't take pride in my knowledge in Ramayan but I managed to watch every single version of Ramayan aired till date.
Now coming to your post, for me Ramayan and Mahabharat are two such epics which are written down by amazing poets like Valmiki and Veda Vyasa to teach the way of life for the upcoming generations. A Ramayan or a Mahabharat might happen anywhere in our own lives. Isn't every lady dishonored and silence beheld by the people around her not a case of Draupadi in Dyut Sabha? I believe every event of these epics have taken place but the they were recorded to give a message not to be read like a story or to be remembered like a formula of maths or a theory in science. And SKR is giving such amazing messages and the exact same messages what Valmiki would have wanted. We don't know every single thought of every single character and that gives way to creative liberties.
Like Shruthi rightfully said, even after learning Sanskrit and reading the Gita, I would not be able to understand and enjoy if they give long shlokas for us as dialogues and stick to the plot, which has been interpolated at so many instances. Like in a recent found, a version of Ramayan didn't have one full Kaand. I don't even know what Sargas are but I expect them to phrases or verses.
Coming to romance, it is extremely divine and subtle. And who said romance is not there in Ramayan? That pain of separation which Ram felt, that loyalty which pulled Sita along with Rama to the Vanvaas, the love which stood without flickering in the separation period and the love which became the life giver of Sita and the strength of Ram to fight. Ramayan was full of the nine feelings which constitute life and you cannot separate one feeling out of it. I didn't feel it was vulgar at any point nor will it ever be, as I trust the production house with that. And more than romance, I think it shows immense love between everyone and anyone. Love of people, love of things, love of position or love of something else.
SKR is not just a romantic saga but it shows a contrast between two societies and hence giving us out a good message.
And if they don't show these minor changes in the plot, who will watch it and who will even get the idea of Ramayan? We have too many option these days. People who have read the original Ramayan might have a problem with all this but at least people are learning, if not Ramayan then some values which was the reason behind writing Mahabharat and Ramayan. I don't think that if we were asked to watch the same Ramayan as it was written, many of us would not have been here. As I personally began watching this as it was from Sita's perspective and that always MB and DKDM managed to erase every problem of my life by giving solutions in their seekh.
This is Sita's perspective guys. We don't know what exactly she thought. If the Vidhi was there that Ayodhya's Rani cannot go to her son's weddings than Sita might have felt bad about it. We never know. It is also an answer to many questions we get in life. Like Gautam Rishi Ka Krodh Ka Part, Bwhy should girls leave their homes and should girls should be given bidaai with smiles or tears?
As someone rightfully pointed out, kahin baar ghee nikalne ke liye ungli tedhi karni padhthi hai. Ghee tho wahi rahe ha lekin nikalne ka dang alag hai. Ramayan and Mahabharat are full of interpolations and they all happened to serve the changing thought processes of the audiences.
Lovely post Varaali!
Sorry if my post offended someone!

Thank you so much, Janu! I myself don't have great knowledge in Ramayan as I was always more passionate about Mahabharat but this just pulled my interest towards Ramayan.Originally posted by: daydreamers
Yagya,You wrote my mind... 😳 please don't be a silent reader.. Pen down something always. Am sure ppl like me who haven't read much of Ramayana or any mythology in Sanskrit would love to be enriched with the knowledge you have... In fact all those who have read and researched mythology a lot... 😃Am loving the presentation of SKR...I take an opportunity to thank varaali for this thread... Its been an enriching experience with all the discussions... 😊Janhavi/Jan/janu/DD

My thoughts exactly. 👏It makes sense for CVs to change a little bit here and there to show progressive thoughts, but why change something that is not regressive and actually has a much deeper meaning? Why create something bad that is not bad to start with, and them make Ram preach against it?
