hello everyone ,
I have been a Sanskrit student for 5 years now and I simply love the language , it keeps me grounded and also reminds about great ideas in the epics through the shlokas , not just this others languges too and I have cherished them .
for me more than anything I vaue the ideas , the values , the perception in every story .
now we never know that stories or characters or the storyline are absolutely true what glues me to them is the ideas and how they are shaped and attained the modern form and so if the makers are able to get that essence back by little deviation , I take it with respect and moreover I want those ideas .
those demanding original epic are also right .
I will take a very neutral stand as I find both the sides correct in their perspective
that's my stand .😊

hmm really dont know how to start with my views😆..ok this is my first ramayan serial and do have a little knowledge about it...i was fascinated by the promos and i heard Ashish will play the ram role and i decided to watch this serial for him and also to know about the content of the epic ramayan...as u asked will youth doesn't enjoy this kind of shows if love stories are not highlighted??ofcourse we will enjoy this show even if the love stories are not given much attention...So far the basis for every couple love story were not went with a filmy or some OTT melodramatic style. It was handled with utmost care and cant deny of the fact that every serial has it's plus and minus points...I dont know how many distortions have been showed till now and will love to hear from the people who tells whenever distortions scenes appears...I do learn something from the serial and also from the forum members as knowledge has no boundaries and it can be learned from anybody...From this serial i came to know that a sister whose name is shanta exists and kept away from the ayodhya kingdom...If i would not start seeing this serial i may not come across from this in my entire life...I also want to tell one thing that we youth easily sell for Love stories...Some characters have been little OTT and some scenes do look like filmy but still i have no objections in watching this serial...It will be good for me to learn something from this serial and also forum members who have the idea of entire ramayan where they enlighten us some unknown facts...
Lastly i will say im watching this serial for three reasons Content Entertainment Happiness
Whenever i see this serial i will feel like watching some fairytale😳

nice topic, varali, altough i like the show but i want to know more about ramayan. i don't think that our epics are "boring" or "not cool" but not knowing our roots and heritage is that.

Hi Everyone,
Though I don't belong to the young members of this forum, I would like to say regarding this.
Any mytho or historical shows are made to make money. TRPs are not important for us,but for the makers its important. If they show same things then nobody will watch it, so they have to show something different or something that is not seen before, resulting in many boring and baseless shows. But not in case of Siya ke ram. As per my knowledge there is not much of distortions. they are mostly sticking to the original story, incidents, characters sketch . I think you should give it a try, its really beautiful show. The makers have already clarify that this show is from siya's perceptive.
They don't call it Ramayan, it is Siya Ke Ram. So of course, the treatment is different here.
So far, its going perfectly, if you watch it, you will love it tooo.😊

I am not sure about others but I am not watching this to learn about "Ramayan", just watching it for the sake of entertainment. SKR is better than many other options out there (shows) and also out of curiosity since the promotion were all about Sitas point of view. If anyone want to learn about the original epic, its better to read it. Movie and TV serial adaptions can never be accurate and faithful with the original version. Maybe it shouldn't be about about the accuracy but blending the components of Ramayan with the known history.

I do believe the makers already gave hint out there when they named the show "Siya ke Ram" how it will not be based on the original epic. This is a fictional mythology so the makers have taken creative liberties in several places. For the channel and the makers, TRPs is everything because they have invested on it and want revenue for the product they are selling.

I am personally okay with modern adaptions too. At end of the day, its all about being critical to the medium we learn/sees.

In fact , we never know that there is other side as well .

Obviously , We are enjoying Janak and his wisdom , whether it be his parenting , or acceptance of daughter's equally just like sons , or his independent way of thinking to allow his daughter's to gurukul back then in tretaYug itself . #InspiresMeOfcourse.

Coming to romantic scenes , Yes we do enjoy them . And I can say that we cannot do without them , is ramayan not about the Epic Love saga of SiyaRam . ? Is it not about the sacrifices for their partners ? Yes , whats wrong in it , if we enjoy it the most.
And we are not going nuts over OTT scenes , We are loving the divinity in Siya-Ram , Eye talks and their understand , We are impressed how they are Independent bt still together.

Giving Ram lengthy slokas for narration is more like what we used to see in BnW movies , time changed , ppl changed , we don't even understand hindi properly , Ypu cant expect us to understand that slokas. Short dialogues is what we prefer .
As a sanskrit student for 5 yrs , I love the language , Its a beautiful language no doubt bt more than language its the Impact it has on viewers , If they can grab more audience with this lil Hindi its better...Atleast they are trying to put some Idea of Ramayan in our Minds.

SKR is not all about Romance , If you watch the show there is lot more to it. They are showing Ayodhya's Strict rules which are highly against a woman's independence like mothers cannot attend the wedding of their sons , on the other side they are showing How Independence should be given to a woman to make the things better like in Mithila .
Not just that , Ram speaks on every minor issue , clears his throat and speaks boldly , Even that captivates us . Sita , not being just a fragile princess , Questions every wrong deed she comes across . What more they can teach us inthis modern society ?

I agree , they could make it some more realistic , bt they cant loose their TRP as well.

Hmmm , quite a lengthy reply . :P
Lovely post varaali , Great topic .
Sruthi.

Sruthi, not a single point I disagree with... 😃 u echoed my thots.. Bas thoda add Karti hoon... 😆

I think Ramayana Mahabharata were the epics told to ppl years ago to give them moral lessons... These both epics were narrated to guide the society when they lost track...

But as time passes things change, don't they? And for every generation you need to explain thinks differently.. As the world has become technology oriented it has become difficult to teach the kiddos the way we were taught... Me though being 22 find it difficult to deal with aj ke bacche 😆 you can never know what questions they shall come up with...

And yes if they show us the old original Ramayana, won't the kids counter question? There were simple things- why were the ranis not attending wedding? A kiddo asked me who was my guest dat day...and I was 😕.. I said bhai unko welcome preparations bhi karni thi na ghar pe so they didn't come... To this that chutku replies " but dadi toh came to chachu's wedding.. Unko welcome prep nahi karni thi kya?"🤢 I was 😲.

So even when we are shown the modern adaptation, ye haal hai.. Juz imagine what would happen if they show the original one... 😆

Unlike 10-13 yrs ago, when I was a kid( like my generation) my mom would narrate me these stories and we would listen with interest.. But nowadays as technology has advanced and there are so many channels, kids don't shun away from simply switching the channels if they find the content disinteresting... It's a natural thing isn't it?

Am okay with it, till the essence is intact... And yes, trust me every episode has a moral hidden...

So its this way, "Kabhi Kabhi ghee nikaalne ke liye ungli tedhi karni padti hai". 😉

So the ghee is same Bas the technique is different... 😛

It's not like they explained the queens' absence in this adaptation much better. All they did was make it worse by portraying Ayodhya as this rigid, patriarchal society, which it wasn't. They did not explain why the queens did not come to the wedding. They gave no reason or justification for it, which there certainly is in the epic.

In fact, by pointing out the queens' absence, they made the situation worse by villifying the people of a Kingdom who were known for the kindness and virtue.

What exactly did they accomplish by highlighting the queens' absense? What lesson have they taught the younger generation? Nothing except that Ayodhya was a patriarchal society and Dashrath was a man who did not care about his wives' feelings. Is this what we want to teach our youth? Do we want to villify characters who are known for their kindness and mercy?
