Chapter 3: Blame game

Bharath, Laxman and Shatrughna went in different directions to find any incidents related to shiv mandir as per the order of King Ram. Near the washerman house, Bharath witnessed a huge crowd and he approached them. People said to Bharath "Rajkumar, he (showing washerman) is the reason for all this bad omen. He only forced the king to banish Sitadevi and right now we are facing the anger of mata parvati". Bharath said "you people can't punish a person, let me take him to Raj darbar (Kings' court) and all can come and explain your views there".

In the darbar, the King Ram is seated in throne and all 3 brothers are in their respective positions.

Minister: Pranam maharaj, these people wants justice and they brought the washerman who is the cause for the unhappiness in the whole of ayodhya.

Ram: (Seeing the people, he asked) Can I know what is the charge against this washerman?

(Representative from crowd) Rep: Pranam Maharaj, he is the one who defamed our maharani and forced you to banish our queen. As our maharani went from the palace, mata parvati became angry and the Ardhanarishvara lingam is tilted. We want you to punish this washerman and bring our maharani Sitadevi back to palace.

Ram: So you people think my opinion on that time of agreeing Sita's exile is the cause for the anger of mata parvati. In that case, I should be punished along with washerman.

Entire court is speechless and even guru Vashisht took time to counter Ram.

Guru Vashisht: When an opinion of a person becomes the decision of two, it is no longer an order.

Ram: (with a smile understanding his guru) So how come one person be totally responsible for the opinion of another? Moreover, if the same people has not found the washerman's words to be wrong on that day, how can they blame him now? Can I consider, these people had the same opinion as washerman and now repent over it.

Again there is a silence in the court.

Ram continued ... I can't punish the washerman till we know the whole reason for the inclination of the linga. (Turning towards washerman) you can go home. But you will be called to the court before closing the case. If anyone harms you, the court is always open.

Washerman: (He really felt that no punishment can ever hurt this much than the forgiveness) with unstoppable tears he folds his hands and moves away from court.

Ram: Minister send two soldiers to washerman's area and make sure nothing happens.

The court is dispersed.

The news spreads over all areas and reached Valmiki ashram in the evening. People in ashram started blaming king Ram for the assumed upcoming bad omen in the kingdom. They accused king Ram for banishing Sitadevi and inviting the trouble for ayodhya.

Sita is completely shattered to hear their gossip. She is not able to trust her own ears. She rushed to meet Valmiki where he is in meditation.
