Disclaimer: The story is a fiction though it includes characters from Ramayan. Hope none of the chapters match with any existing FF/OS etc.., if it happens it will merely be a coincidence. In such case, please bring it to my notice, so that I can stop it with the satisfaction of knowing one more person with the same mindset of mine.😊

Part II: Dharm in Love and affection

Chapter 1: Realization

King Ram entered the Raj darbar (court) followed by his brothers. Ram sensed some uneasiness in the court. He understood that again some emotional case is on the way. He greeted his guru and sat in his throne with a mindset of no attachment to whatever comes in his path of Raj dharm.

Minister: Pranam Maharaj, a family has come with their problem to be sorted and they require your justice.

Ram: Ask them to enter the court.

A man and two women entered the court. Both women had worries in their face and one carried a newly born baby in her hands. They came in front of King.

Man: Pranam Maharaj, I am Bandhu. She is my first wife Anulekha (showing a lady). We didn't have a child for 8yrs and with her permission I married Sudarshini (showing another lady, one whocarries the baby). At the time of my marriage to Sudharshini, I told Anulekha that she can have the pleasure of fostering my child if she accept my second wife. She also accepted the same. Now she ask for her rights over the child which Sudarshini refuses. I don't want to breach my promise. Help me to solve it Maharaj.

Ram (He didnt like the reason of Bandhu's second marriage but he maintain patience to know the truth in whole): What do you say (looking at Sudarshini)?

Sudarshini: Maharaj, Paranam. Its my child and I want to have the experience of nurturing my child. He told that he will give all happiness in my life but right now he wants to go against his words. I can't live without my child. I want my rights as a mother.

Ram (understood the pain of a mother): Ma, Please don't cry. Let me know what do you want to say in this regard (looking at Anulekha)

Anulekha: I want him (Bandhu) to fulfil his promise. I agreed for his second marriage and treated Sudarshini with full love and affection. Can't I have atleast this happiness of upbringing the child in my abandoned life? Ma Lakshmi has no children but still the world call her as matha. Is she not shedding love and affection towards us? (Not only she but none in the court knows, that Sita (incarnation of Lakshmi became the mother of Luv and Kush). Will I be not a good mother for his child?

Everyone remained in silent as none has any solid solution for the problem in front of their eyes. Four eyes silently shed tears, two recalling how she gave away her rights and the other two out of unaware mistakes.

To be continued...😉

Part II: Dharm in Love and affection

Chapter 2: Bitter truth

Two eyes shedding tears remembered her stolen rights and went to cherish the unretrievable moments. Kaushalya remembered the day, her doting son Ram who uttered his first word "Maa" looking Kaikeyi. Kaushalya felt unrecognizable pain which was immediately overcome by the action of Kaikeyi who shouted in great enjoy without even looking back at Bharath who cried hearing her loud voice.

Though Kaushalya was the mother of Ram, Kaikeyi only nurtured Ram. It was not only Dhasarath who thought Ram to be slightly special than other sons but it was Kaikeyi who made Dhasarath to behave so. Kaushalya remembered about the marriage of Ram-Sita which was narrated to her by Kaikeyi in a splendid way who knew it from Dhasarath. She refreshed the convo...

Kaushalya: Kaikeyi, tell about our sons marriage

Kaikeyi: Di, how can I describe the beauty of Ram-Sita marriage? I am not as good as Maharaj.

Sumitra: Kaikeyi di, who can narrate about Ram better than you?

Kaikeyi with an extreme joy rendered the events during their marriage.

Kaushalya: Tell about Bharath-Mandavi, Laxman-Urmila and Shatrughan-Shruthkriti

Kaikeyi: Di, They also followed as per the order of priest and got married.

Kaushalya: What is this, tell about them know

Sumitra: Kaikeyi di, if you skip it Kaushalya di will not sleep today.

Kaikeyi: Sumitra, I didn't ask about them to maharaj. He told about Ram and answered by questions of whether the rituals were performed accordingly.

Kaushalya: This is too bad kaikeyi. You should have asked about them especially Bharath who won't even talk like others.

Sumitra: Don't worry, I have got an replica. Let me get the details.

Kaikeyi: Urmila can't say about others know. She was busy in her marriage.

Kaushalya: No Kaikeyi, by now she knows about the events happened in our marriage.

The bhavan was filled with extreme happiness and laughter.

Kaushalya cleared her tears and saw Kaikeyi being lost somewhere in thoughts.

The other two eyes shedding tears to wash away her own committed sins.

Kaikeyi remembered the day of Ram's coronation.

Why she gave importance to the words of Manthara?

Why she failed to understand the consequences of separating Ram from Dhasarath?

Why she forgot that it was Ram who blindly trusted her next to dhasarath?

Why she asked bharath to be the king?

Why she asked Ram to be separated not just from dhasarath but from her?

Why she forgot that she can't attain the mental peace in Ram's absence?

Why she snatched the rights of Kaushalya and destroyed?

Kaikeyi recalled the events and asked herself just "why?". Kaushalya who understood Kaikeyi touched her hands with a consoling eyes. Kaikeyi tried hard to release herself from inner turmoil.

Ram: The future of the child is more important than your right over parenting. So I want to know your plans for upbringing the child. I want both Anulekha and Sudarshini to convey their ideas of how their wish to build his career separately to the minister. I will make the decision based on that. Don't think these are mere words. We will keep track of the child's life to know whether the chosen mother fulfill her promises.

Ram (Looking at Minister): Make arrangements to get their words being documented and attested.

Part II: Dharm in Love and affection

Chapter 3: Classical dharma

Minister made records of the statement issued by both Anulekha and Sudarshini separately. He brought the same to the court along with them.

Minister: Pranam Maharaj, their statements are registered.

Ram: Minister,You read the same here.

Minister: Yes. These are the words of Anulekha

"I will take good care of the child both mentally and physically. I will take care by giving only good food for him. I will make him educate well so that he can be knowledgeable to take decision of his own. I will make him understand the dharm and the need to respect women"

Ram understood the inner meaning of her words.

Minister: Shall I proceed with the statement of Sudarshini?

Ram: please..

Minister: Sudarshihi's statement "I will make sure that my child is safe and brought up in a secured place. I will give him a good shiksha by joining him under a well-known guru. He will be made a multi-talented man. He will be nurtured in a way where he obey the words of elders and give respect to them."

Bandhu: Won't you both try to make him as a good businessman? Who will take over my business then?

Ram: Wait Bandhu, its only their wish and you can also have one of your own.

Bandhu: Sorry, Maharaj.

Ram: Bharath, what do you think about their statements?

Ram knows that kekeya is going to face war in upcoming days and he wants to make sure of his brother's ability as a king.

Bharath: Both are good in their own way. But I feel Anulekha as a better person to guide as she mentioned that the child will be given the knowledge to make decision on his own but at the same time Sudarshini's views are also right.

Ram: So what's your opinion?

Bharath: Why can't a son be nurtured by more than one mother?

Ram (with a smile): Okay.

Ram firmly looking at the people gathered in the hall started his judgement

Ram: This case is not just particular to Bandhu and his family, its a social issue and my judgement will be made as a law for the upcoming days.

1. A woman can't be disowned on the basis of fertility issues.

2. A man can't marry many times by making the reason as just for the sake of child. We know kings and prince marry more than once due to political issues but in no way it means that the path can be blindly followed. Many kings did multiple marriages to stop unnecessary wars at the the cost of human lives but I make a rule that even my successors will be in the dharm path of single wife.

3. If a man is tied by a situation to marry again, he has to get the complete permission from his first wife in written. At any cost she can't be threaten, in which case women can approach the court which is always open for them.

Bandhu, I really want to punish you for your mentality but on thinking about your family, I am leaving you. You have to ask apology to both your wives and keep in mind that don't make promises to anyone which is not in your hands.

"The child will be nurtured by his biological parents Bandhu and Sudarshini but each step in the life of the child can be decided only with the approval of Anulekha"

Both Anulekha and Sudarshini are satisfied with the judgement and they thanked the King.

Bandhu asked apology to both his wives and they left the court room.

The judgement made two eyes to shed tears which is wiped by other two hands. Yes, Kaushalya cried who is consoled by Sumitra.

The END 😊

Note 1: Hope you like it. Do share your views.

Note 2: We know Krishna married several women with their wish, but we ask for only Ram Rajya and not Krishna Rajya. So I made Ram making those laws😉
