@DD you have pointed out a very important aspect of astrology or horoscope. You go fanatically behind it. When you expect horoscope to control every aspect of your life. This fanatism I can see for certain stars as far as marriage goes. When you say the girl's star is Thriketta immediately the marriage proposal is rejected if the boy has an elder brother or the girl can marry only the eldest son of the family. Then comes the next star Moolam. There is a belief associated with it that a girl with Moolam is bad for FIL and he can die. Last but not the least Pooradam or Pooradam on a Friday. The girl will be a widow they say. I don't know how much of this is true, but I have seen parents worrying when their daughters have these stars, especially pooradam, other 2 are still manageable. Hearing these stars itself the proposal is rejected. Like Meena said maybe the kundali will have something that can nullify the effect of the doshams even if they exist. So without looking into completely you fanatically make some judgement based on half knowledge then it is a problem.

One more thing I have to tell about this. Astrology is a prediction science or probability science. A science where you need a spiritual compass also for your predictions to be successful. Today it is made a business. If you see many old astrologers does not demand a fee. After consultation you keep dakshina or whatever you feel like giving them. So should making him listen to Gayatri Mantra continuously have improved his condition. Scientifically there is a chance. As the mantra is nothing but sound energy and if chanted correctly can impact the brain cells in the right frequency. And since Upanayanam is in the growing up years of the child, would that sound energy helped the child. Maybe, maybe not. But if we had thought about that aspect of Upanayanam atleast we could have tried.

I have asked my aunt now to try. He is grown up, don't know whether it will help, but still I have asked her to try. Make him sit no matter what in front of the CD playing Gayatri Mantra and if possible support him to chant that.
